I haven't played the game yet, but just from the clips I've seen, I can tell the developers had a lot of love and respect for the original franchise. Most FPS games feature fast-paced movement where you're trying not to get hit, so it's interesting how Robocop differs in that area by having your character move a lot slower, but with the ability to take more damage.
It takes a little while to get used to but it actually works surprisingly well. With the upgrade system you can get a temporary dash and armor/shield system that recharges after time. There's also a healing system that restores your life. Oh you can also grab and punch enemies. The only thing I wish they had was maybe a side step move or something.
I'm so glad the game is doing well and getting so much coverage. I went to get spider man 2 and it was sold out so I picked this up instead and was very happy with my purchase.
Bullseye at last,I saw the original movie back in the day in Edinburgh and we were mesmerized and wondered if ever there would be a game to capture the essence of the movie(many attempts over the years) it's not all about graphical power the game needs to put a smile on your face, Even better if you can't wait to get home to get one more try. Well done developers I've been waiting many years for this.
There was however one game that sorta captured the essence of robocop back in the day. A game called RoboCop vs the terminator for sega genesis/mega drive. Overly violent for the time but fun as hell. Look it up.
Exactly! It’s like they set the game out to be fun and nothing more. I felt like I was getting a complete game and not have to worry about any dlc or micro transactions along the way.
Oh definitely, it even has a mission where you go inside an arcade complete with one of those old token/dollar exchange machines. This game was such a trip down memory lane😊
@@SuperJumpReviewsHello sir, tnks for all those VITA reviews they were to the point and were interesting. I was saying that please could you also review ports on VITA (such as GTA SA etc .) now for those interested.
It seems you didn´t play Terminator: Resistance on ps4 / enhanced edition on ps5? Same developer. The best Terminator game. It counts only T1 and T2, as it should be. I never saw a Robocop movie as a kid, but I´m going to buy this, just to support the devs. I wonder what they will make next. Good vid. I also love those targeting lines.
I actually did play the terminator game but I didn’t stop to think they were the same developers haha. Not surprised though. They put a lot of effort into their work. Since these guys have such a proven track record with movie license games I’d really like to see their take on a 90s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. Now that would be wild!
It wasnt a "big" budget game so i think the devs did a great job with what they had. I like it, its a decent game and definitely one for fans of the original films plus it was only £25 on cd keys and it runs sweet on the steam deck.
I think that's the problem with big budget games nowadays. They have so much money that they pour into graphics that by the end the game isn't even fun to play. With small budget games it forces developers to be creative which I feel is why this game is so much fun. btw, it must be nice playing this on the steam deck while laying in bed. How's it run on it?
Im really enjoying playing through this on PC at the moment. Got it virtually half price on release from cdkeys. Big fan of the original film and as you said it feels like a perfect continuation from that
If they had just taken this story line and used it for the RoboCop 3 movie it would done a helluva lot better instead of what we got with RoboCop wearing the jet pack and the Japanese cyborg twin ninjas ugh, "What were they thinking?!"
In terms of performance how is it in a scale 1 - 10? Does it suffer a lot from input lag and framedrops? Does it have numerous issues like EA and Ubisoft games? In a heavy shootout or where many effects are on screen so you notice drastically framedrops or it drops 2 - 5 fps?
On a scale of 1 - 10 if 10 was really bad and unplayable then I'd rate it as 2. It's hardly noticeable. Does not suffer from input lag and aside from the cutscene glitch I mentioned earlier there are no issues. The game is otherwise very well put together. To be honest, the frame drops are no minimal it's hardly anything to be concerned with. It's basically like 2 -5 frames at most when it happens. It's not going to look like a slide show or anything. No worries. The game runs great.
I'm waiting for this game to get a sale and then playing. It just seems to be taking forever to get it. With that said, this game seems to be one of those licensed games where you really need to be a fan of the license to fully enjoy. Stuff along the lines of like Terminator Resistance and Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. The former is a great Terminator game but as a game, it's kind of on the mediocre side. I am not sure if I'll enjoy the slow bits since Murphy seems to move really slow and I am the kind of guy who likes to look through everything but still on occasion misses some stuff. It might drive me crazy but I need to play the game to be the judge. Also, I wish this game wasn't an interquel between Robocop 2 and 3, I usually hate it when stories do that since it feels like the writers can't be creative and they have to try everything to avoid contradicting what happens later.
Yeah, I see what you mean. By the review you can tell I'm a huge RoboCop fan😁I actually didn't mind the interquel approach with this game since I hated RoboCop 3 with a passion😂sorry. $60 might be a hard sell for people unfamiliar with the franchise but for $30 it's totally worth picking up. When you do please let me know what you think.
I remember being a little kid and asking my parents if they could rent RoboCop 3 for me on FIRST RUN. I think it was the movie service on tv at the time. Oh man, I'm old!@@civilwarfare101

Love your channel sir, I recently purchased a PS5 and as a child of 9 years old when the first movie came out, this is definitely on my nostalgia radar. 😀 P.s I miss the 80's 😔
As a child I absolutely loved RoboCop. Even though it was way too violent for me as a kid I just thought there was something so fascinating about a guy that was turned into a machine🤔 P.s I miss the 90's 😞
What a candid & thus reliable review. You're emotionally intelligent, which is healthy, your knowledge is wholesome, and although your lack of confidence is indicative of higher intellect (seeing that people with critical thinking skills are able to doubt or be aware of their errors) I think you should in the future, possibly consider taking the leap of faith with explaining something similar to this upgrade system of the gun. Because Devs need to know how these systems are confusing to people. I had to look at it for 10 minutes straight, experimenting to establish the logical of it. All the points you make are fair, accurate and well noted. I would also like you to add your thoughts with the sound, music, & voice acting - seeing that we live in the age of Dolby Atmos & abundant music production everywhere. Which makes me feel somewhat confused with just how badly it adds up on this. Over time, we get used to the limited amount of sounds and music in a game; unlike real life. This game has far too sparse music and the sfx become repetitive quickly. I think they could take a leaf from Goleneye64 who literally had one theme - the Bond Theme and tarted it up in every possible way! They could have done this with the Robocop Theme, although I personally would have added more abrasive analogue synths from the 80's. But that's just me. I'm enjoying it in small doses though. Funny how such an odd little film has gained such a cult following.
I think the worst part is some of the voice acting, Peter Weller is good even his sidekick is good, but when a stable character like the Sarge is involved the voice is not even close to the original voice which I personally think they could have done a better job at finding an actor who had a similar voice, or a close voice, it's like they said doesn't matter we will take this guy. It takes away from my enjoyment of the game
No. Its not worth it. Graphics are meh and aiming is really meh story is dull . For a 2023 game its really poor . And i cant compare it to the film its miles off the. The film was dark and put you on a bit of nervous edge . And why robocop looks ps5 himself the rest looks like ps3. Shame.
I actually did play the terminator game but I had no idea they were the same guys who worked on this game 😅imagine my surprise. These guys do good work👍
This sounds like the kind of guy who makes yelp reviews at his local Applebees. “Mmmm, yes. 🧐 I ordered my steak rare and it was too pink for me. There were only 5 cubes of ice in my glass of water, which wasn’t triple filtered, when I would have preferred an even 6 cubes. The service was lack luster at best as they only had 3 people in the restaurant. I remember when they had 4 people at 11am on a Tuesday.” 😅
Worst game I played in a while, and I'm saying that as a fan who's got Robocop everything in my movie, series and game collection. What a clunky bugging laggy mess.
