    Like to see a little more on your bracket system. I'm going to most likely purchase the same rod tree. And I as well have the versa trak..
    Thank you

    Good video with explanation. Maybe I missed it what size boat are you running. Do you have a video setting those riggers and planers in order.

    Great Video, I just broke my plastic rod holder last weekend and lost my whole set up. cant stress enought the importance of a good rod holder on these big lakes.

    Similar to what I have except for the dipsy divers I rarely use them i rather run cooper and cores on planners to the side and 2 downriggers at the back of the boat, it works for me.
    Thanks for the info, very helpful.

      I'm going to go up in August an try for some silver fish. I don't have down riggers, but I run Cisco cradles, only planning on running my normal 6 rods. Less chance of a cluster #$%^ .

    The black plastic Scotty diver rod holders work just fine. I have had them on for 15+ years dragging dipseys and salmon. The cheap plastic one you have in the video is junk I agree.....

    • @themichiganangler4746
      @themichiganangler4746  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which one are you running? The tube style?

    • @outdoorrn2980
      @outdoorrn2980 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both....Key is having lock nuts on the back side of the bases so the screws don't pull out from all the pressure of the dipseys. I use the tubes more for the walleye trolling....I trust the holder with the barrel lock over the rod more than the tube with dipseys and salmon and the intense stress they are under while dragging dipseys....but I have never lost(knock on wood) any gear or fish due to the black plastic Scotty rod holders failing.....just my experience.

    just getting started in this type of fishing with my young son. Without giving up your secret spots, can you point me in the which direction to head out of SOHO lol? I know water depth and all will play a factor in catching fish, just no clue where to go and start hunting them.

    Tell me about your base brackets for the versatrack. I'm waiting to take possession of my new 2021 Tracker Targa v18 and want to build brackets like yours to utilize the track system. I was informed that ANY drilling into the boat would VOID the warranty. Best price I've found for a bracket is $64.00 each. I need 8-10 for my setup. I can buy a piece of aluminum angle for $45 that could be cut down to make the brackets I need. This would save a ton of $$$ to be used for other Items! Thanks for any info.

      So I bought some 2x4” aluminum angle and my local steel supply and they work perfect! Cut them to the length you need and you’re good to go! Carriage bolts fit and hold into the versa track slot!

    • @themichiganangler4746
      @themichiganangler4746  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I normally start out at the 2.5-2.6 and speed up or slow down depending on what the fish are doing! Make big sweeping turns and if you start getting hits on the turns you know your too slow or too fast.
