That’s sewn binding. Not glued. It just has a thick glued support.
Do you know if that's also the case with other recent DC omnis? They've been looking like glued binding.
@@giorgiogirardi4661 With a few exception all DC omnibus are sewn binding. They just support the page bunches with A LOT of glue which makes books stiff and create gutter loss and this has been the case for a while. For example, the Batman New 52 Vol 2 omnibus had the same sewn binding and it was stiff with no eye. I had to force over open the book for 20 seconds and force the binding to stretch so there was an eye. Some of the printers are better than others. The books printed in Canada usually have the stiff glue problem.
So glad to have this on the way - hoping the sequel series “Gotham
Adventures” gets announced next (would probably need 2 omnis to collect)
This Omnibus and Superman Triangle Years are the 2 I want the most this year.

I hope DC does a third omnibus of the batman animated series which could be called Batman: the new adventures omnibus. Definitely most wanted DC omnibus.
This could be the mapping:
The Batgirl adventures #1(1998)
Batman: Gotham adventures issues #1-60(1998-2003)
Batman adventures issues #1-17(2003-2004)
Batman: Harley and Ivy issues #1-3(2004)
Batman: the adventures continue issues #1-23(2020-2023)
It may or may not happen but I hope DC can do a big third omnibus to complete the animated series
I don't think an 81 issue omnibus is realistic, that could crush a reader if they're not careful.
I'm just hoping for the Superman TAS comics now, but that'd be amazing too.
Hoping we get that (plus the Batman/Superman Worlds Finest adaptation) in 2 omnis

This book doesn't have glued binding, it's the same as all omnis with sewn pages glued to a ribbon. It's a small eye but it is not just pages glued to the spine with no ribbon or stitches. My copy is fine anyway, I think Dom got it wrong
Exactly. I think there’s a fair amount of people in this hobby that see the glue on DC books and assume that means glued binding. It does not. I recommend folks check out some book binding videos because it’s actually pretty cool, but it may make them feel more confident in the books they buy, knowing how they’re assembled.
@@comicscoda Marvel omnis have glue there too, it's just that DC ones tend to have a more visible layer of it. Maybe more glue, that could be why DC books don't open as much/have less of an eye sometimes. So far all of my DC omnis have held up to years of shelf wear and reading. DC omnis have thicker paper more often than not as well

@@comicscoda yep DC might be tighter but much better paper quality. I'm done with marvel ripped a page from just turning, the paper is way too thin now

I know there’s some other comments here that say so, but feel the need to reiterate to minimize the misinformation in case it was actually deterring potential buyers.

There's a good handful of miscellaneous DC Animated Universe-related comics I'd like to see collected, such as the Claritin Syrup Presents Batman one-shot, the 1993 Superman & Batman Magazine, Batman: Comics to Color (at least two issues released around 1992-1993), the Adventures in the DC Universe series, the Batman: Shadow of Sin Tzu webcomic, Superman Adventures Exclusive Edition (a tie-in to Titus's infamous Superman game for the Nintendo 64), and some Burger King Justice League Adventures comics. I dunno if all of this can possibly be reprinted (if good quality copies of the materials exists, or if there are potential legal issues with the sponsored tie-in comics), but I hope someone at DC reads this and considers it.
Agreed would love a collection of all this additional DCAU material that has never been collected before!

Really glad for this book although I wish they had included “Dark Claw Adventures 1” which was an issue from Marvel vs DC set in the DCAU style by Ty Templeton & Rick Burchett - especially since currently DC & Marvel are working together to make the DC vs Marvel omnis later this year

Glad I kept your channel, it’s motivating me to collect comics, read, and review them on my channel. Ended up throwing out some, because of personal issues. I have a Dunkin’ Donuts cookie review and a metro dlc fan made trailer.
I got into reading Batman a few weeks ago and this came out at the perfect time. I finished Dark Victory and planned on reading Second Chances Death in the Family shortly after but that didn't seem right. I wanted more Robin stories with Greyson. I picked up the Robin Bronze Age omni but it wasn't exactly scratching the itch. I'll wait for this to come in the mail and hopefully I'll feel satisfied before continuing.
Are this book and Batman adventures continuations of the animated series or their own thing but set in the same universe?
They are set in the same universe. The general rule is that these take place in the same continuity unless theres specific conflicts (ie in Batman Adventures - Batman meets Superman with a mullet and red headed Lex Luthor which is later rendered non-canon by the Worlds Finest crossover episodes)

does anyone know if this omnibus has glossy or uncoated paper stock? i know the first one had glossy but this one looks uncoated in the video, can't quite tell.

Yes its in the same continuity with B&RA taking place after Batman Adventures. Both series are really good

I have this book. It's exactly the same as every other DC or Marvel omni. Sewn pages glued to a ribbon down the spine.
It’s sewn binding. You can see the signatures (the collection of folded pages that get sewn) when they show the binding in the video. Sometimes you’ll still see those folds in glued binding from dc, but if you do it is only on one end of the book. With glued binding, instead of seeing the folded signatures, you’ll see a bunch of jagged rough cuts where the glue gets in to bind all the pages together.
I tried the first trade of the Batman adventures and fell off. Should I have continued on? Would it have gotten better? Love the show dearly.

@@cullenn2100looks like sewn binding, not glued. There are signatures in the video. You wouldn’t see signatures on glued binding from DC.
Omar said it was glued. All books have signatures regardless.
@@cullenn2100 not necessarily. And most of dc’s books that are glued with indications of signature on one side are clearly glued instead of sewn when you look at the opposite side of the book. There are clear jagged cuts to show the glue to bind the pages (with what I’m talking about). Omar has been wrong about binding multiple times in the past, which is fine, he just didn’t look right. This definitely appears to be sewn binding.
Cheap Graphics still has The Batman Adventures omnibus for purchase as of today.
How is the material in this book compared to the material in the first one? It didn’t really grab me, and I wish more was written by Paul Dini.
If DC starts doing glued binding on omnis, they can kiss my purchases behind. Disappointed to see this with a worse binding so they can save a few bucks. The premium paid for an Omni should be enough to guarantee better quality that this
Fear not, DC fan. This is in fact sewn binding. They just misspoke. That’s definitely sewn, as you can see the signatures. DC quality is still good and this looks to be the same quantity as many of their other sewn binding omnibuses.

Like all Marvel & DC omnis, it has bunches of pages stitched together and glued to the spine. Not just glue

@@jjm6187 It's there, the ribbon is also black same as the hardback. My copy has, so unless Doms got a weird copy with no ribbon. The book is no different to every other omni.
This has got to be sewn binding. Don’t panic. When you get the book, look at the top and bottom where the pages meet the spine. There are many little curves. That’s because the pages are folded in groups and then sewn together. The fact that you can see those in this very video is a strong indicator that it’s sewn binding. You can sometimes still see these folds in glued binding but it will only be on one side, and the other will look all jagged as the signatures have been scored/cut to allow glue to bind them. But this definitely appears to be sewn binding
