As someone whose garage is mostly Rogue stuff…. I am happy and sad at the same time. Happy because Rogue now acknowledges they have a “competition” - this is a win for the consumers. Sad because this is TOO LATE!! I bought a separate cable machine and lat pull down machine - ain’t no way I am selling and move things around. Would love to have all in one Rogue rack/ cable - but too much effort to sync in with this late innovation.
same here, too invested with both: rack and pulldown
why do you care about Rogue or any fitness company.
you giys treat them like football teams i swear
If you have a high end lat machine it's gonna be better than. Any system added tl a rack
@@outtrigger to answer your question, rogue makes stuff in the USA. I'm loyal to the American worker, and if I could get USA made stuff from others, I wouldn't care but rogue it is for now.
@@stark5353 all the steel they use is probably made in china anyway, along with the machinery they use to build the stuff
I hope with all my heart that Rogue get your feedback, that's an awesome review that at the end makes it better for the consumer! KUDOS for the great work!
the pulldown bar looks to be in a clip, so i think it's folded inward for storage...the pulley looks like it might have a little more clearance for actual usage.. wish they started with this couple years ago
i feel like the lat pulldown is so close in this display; so nobody hits their head when they’re walking by since people will be walking around it all day at The Arnold etc
@@KingCompton no. They have an integrated storage that holds it higher. Not just for the Arnold. For everyone. You don't have to detach it.
A drop-in Rhino with this and Athena-like selectors for the FT part would be sick.
Bells of Steel just did a single stack all in one trainer that does everything with the same ratios as this and it is a quarter of the price
That's true but rogue is rogue bells of steel is ok
@@TheX777X Unless you’re either really disrespectful to your equipment, or you’re a juiced up monster moving crazy weight, there is no justification for spending 4 times as much on an item like that. It’s a good product made in the USA, but is it worth literally thousands of dollars more to do the same thing?
@OfficialLeverKing no justification if you have the money to spend why not? Rogue is the best haha and If saying that is being disrespectful to equipment then I'm a fucking asshole lol
@@OfficialLeverKing you can go to work in a Toyota Corolla or a Porsche gt3. They both get you there.
I personally can't justify 9k for a rack with a pulley system (which is what the new Rogue products would cost to get in Canada). Cool design, bad execution and too late to the game.
I'm so glad you made this video! An important feature to note is that the cables run along the sides of the rack which may limit some attachment and storage capabilities. I'm worried this gives competitors that have integrated cables an edge.
Appreciate the vid. I was so close to getting the FT-1. Legit had it in the cart for days and had talked to Rogue a few times about it. Fired up for the FM-HR.
I can’t wait to hear your review.
For me and my low ceiling garage, the REP wins with the 80” height. The 90+” that Rogue sells would not allow me to open the garage door.
I have a 93 inch rep ares and need the extra height because of my size. My only change to the ares is I would like rollers on the trollies
I just got the drop in rhino, I’m just hoping they don’t make rhino 2.0 and instead make a way to turn the existing rhino into a pulley system.
The shrouds around the cable parts are optional per the description on rogue website. That’s a good choice to be able to skip the shrouds.
I had shrouds on my Inspire Ft1, which I removed. Purely aesthetic, but in all truth it's useless junk. I would too skip the shrouds (unless you own a pet that would most likely play with the cables)
Finally Rogue makes their Rack and cable system combo. Another step closer to having these companies start integrating smith machines and have a true all-in-one Rack lol.
The single stack setup not having the ability to setup different weights on each trainer handle is a big miss compared to the Ares IMO- the ability to use either as a station for two different users at the same time or for two different movements as a super set is something I use in my gym almost daily.
Ya this is a great reason why ares is nice. Can have 1 side for biceps the other side for triceps without having to adjust.
I agree, the double stack is key for the functional trainer. Love having separate exercises and weights for that. I have the Ares and love it. Don’t find any issues with the lat pull down but low row sucks. It’s just too low, which looks like this one is the same.
I’m stoked. Will absolutely be dropping some g’s on this
The 2:1 and 1:1 "magic" is also how the Prime Prodigy stacks work. Each stack is 1:1 on the lat pull, and 2:1 on the pulley. Or you can go 2:1 on the lat pull, and 4:1 on the pulley. You're the one who showed us that years ago lol!
Great video! Really interested to see how Rogue executes on this, given how far they've fallen behind Rep so quickly. I bought my rack in 2020. At the time, Rogue felt like the more serious choice, but now I advise all my friends to go with Rep, and the Ares / Athena are part of why.
Coop, I'd love to see your review of the Dialed Motion Ibex and Sidewinder Systems. Gluck's review of them was positively glowing, and they seem like they could be a great option for Rogue owners to add a functional trainer to their racks, but I'm curious for your take as well!
Isn't the Bells of Steel All in one Trainer already available and has a 1:1 lat pulldown/low row and 2:1 for the functional trainer pulleys?
Yeah only problem is it's bells of steel.
Yep, lighter stack, but very inexpensive. Same concept
What’s wrong with BoS? I went to their showroom in Toronto and was impressed. I don’t like the fact that they are essentially producing in China though to get the prices as low as possible.
Nothing wrong with it at all, they have great customer service as well
Yes, nothing innovative with that cable setup.
Completely agree with you regarding the pull-down bar rubbing the uprights and the low row being too low. I'm not sure there is much of a noticeable difference between the aluminum and plastic pullies, but I'll take your word for it that the aluminum is a smoother pull. In that case, the option to purchase the upgrade would be nice. The Rhino integration is fantastic and a smart move on their part! The option to anchor it to the wall for additional stability is also very nice.
Bells of Steel all in one trainer with the weight stack is doing the same thing with 1:1 on middle pulleys, and 2:1 on side pulleys! They only have a 210lb stack however. But, it's also only $1500 and a 2x2 rack.
Just commented the same thing. I'm considering buying it. Did you see the new Dreadmill?
Dreadmill looks badass, a little pricey for me but very cool! I am also considering buying the all in one trainer though. Between that and just going all out on a Rep Athena build.@@theunknownsamurai7426
It's a very average rack at best (talking about BOS). But let's not bash the design. We are FINALLY seeing functional trainers/adjustable pulley systems incorporated into racks. Companies probably thought they could get away with their incompatible ecosystems until the Chinese copy cats started flooding the market a while back. Now, big names have no other options but to finally design well thought products.
@@Oli-Ravioliwhy do you say it's an average rack? I'm considering getting one.
@@Stayafloat4869It's a solid option if you want a stand alone functional trainer with adjustable pulleys/weight stack (their plate version doesn't have great reviews). I personally would not get two and make it a ''rack'' as it's not really designed for that purpose. I just would not purchase it for the ''rack'' feature as you'll most likely get something better down the road. It also all depends on your budget and gym space. I was once considering buying it but changed my mind. I would much rather recommend a 4 or 6 posts rack with adjustable pulleys and/or the low row/lat pulldown.
I had the RML6 with the weight stack slinger and never really liked it. The slinger was so loosely designed that If you had less then 50 lbs on it the selector rod would bang the edges of the plate still on the stack every time you came down. Travis S did a review and contacted Rogue and they didn't seem to care. I sold the whole thing on CL and moved on to Rep. I have an 8 post 4000 with an Athena on both sides and a lat/low row in the middle. All with weight stacks and couldn't be happier. I do love all my Rogue barbells though.
I have a RM4 108” and I’ve been eyeing the REP Adonis for months now. I’m considering using the Adonis as two uprights and then turning my existing set up into a 6 post. A belt squat platform that connects to the low row would be amazing. I’m also intrigued by the Bulletproof VTS to add a smith machine type feel to my rack.
I've been getting back into working out again, and with limited space I've been looking at the REP but this gives me pause and I want to wait and see if ROGUE pulls this off! Lots of promise for sure!
Would be nice to have an attachment on the front horizontal post. Something that mimics or simply functions as grips for pull ups.
Looks neat, and more options is generally better for the market but I think the MAXUM SX2 rack has all the options beat right now, you get the same 3" x 3" 11-gauge steel, dual stacks with included weight horns to add plates, articulating arms for the functional trainer, plus a smith machine w/leg press all while costing less than Rep or Rogue options when you compare with all the attachments the MAXUM includes.
Coop, I would love to see a review of the MAXUM!
Those articulating arms look dope
Dang that looks sick. It even includes a lot of add-ons. Hopefully the quality is good.
Good to see Rogue doing this. I’ve been feeling like home gyms are such a small piece of Rogue’s business that it was affecting the versatility of their rack ecosystem for home use. If they do this right, they’ll have taken a big step toward closing the gap that Rep has opened up on the home front. Now we need both companies to figure out ways to seamlessly integrate their stacks with accessories like lever arms, rack mounted leg extensions/curls, a good belt squat (not the one rep currently sells), and even weighted (or assisted) dips.
Need to review the wall mounted Athena next
yes this is what i'm looking for as well!
Hopefully they make some of these attachments work with the Rogue Rhino Belt squat!!!
We haven’t seen Coop this jazzed up and jonesing to get his hands on a new product for a looong time.
Love Rogue’s innovation, build quality, overbuilt stability and made by American workers.
Coop, do you plan on reviewing the Wall-Mounted Athena soon? Looking to place an order soon but would love to see your review on it.
I agree. The pulleys needs to be aluminum, lat pulldown out more, Low row at a higher height and weight horn/band pegs built in to the weight plates. They should allow for the safety option to include an upgrade to spotter arms as the trolley can get in the way of other type of safeties and hopefully the trolley can be interchangeable with jammer arms
One thing Rogue doesn’t list on their site is the length of cable travel when using both functional trainer handles at the same time. Unless they redefined physics, I’m predicting 76” of travel with one arm and 38” of travel when using both for a 90” height rack. For a 108” rack it would move up to 94” of travel for one arm and 47” when using both. This could be a big trade off depending on what movements you want to do off the front.
Agreed. As well, with one stack the cabling will involve more pullies, including floating pullies and likely won't be quite as smooth. They should have used aluminum pullies here
Great point. Curious on this as well. Could really handicap the whole system. - Coop
These cable additions, in the plate loaded version is enticing enough to have me replac my cage
So if rep was wanting to squeeze the market an integration between the Athena and rhino style belt squat and be able to low row? Now if it were combined with the jammer arm/ functional trainer prototype like you showed at PRX!
I think rep is still a better option, if ur keen on US made, get the prime prodigy
We'll see when we get it in house and compare. On paper, I'd probably agree with you. Glad to see more options though! - Coop
Nah rep attachments blow. They can even manage to use the 3x3 standard and simply lie and say it is. Rep is mediocre at best.
@@GarageGymReviews Max weight on Ares is 450 per stack and for less money, really the only reason to buy Rogue is if you're adamant in owning Manufactured in America products
I actually like the nylon pully on my rhino vs the aluminum on my Rep functional.
I'm waiting for a conversion kit for the SML-2 to Half rack with functional trainer. But if I end up having to start form scratch, I'd probably go with Rep at this point based on price and innovation.
I'd love to see a review on the Titan Nemesis. Their website says its in stock but I haven't seen any reviews.
Rogue take note!! Estimated launch date is May 1st, so hopefully Rogue pays attention to coops input and implement those changes
Still use my Prospot HG6 from 2011ish, it's both 1:1 and 2:1 with two 200lb stacks.
My ATX Functional Trainer corner system with 2:1 ratio on cables and 1:1 ratio on lat/low with just one weight stack
My Surplus strength UPS has served me well but it looks like I’ll be upgrading if this ends up being the real deal. I would love a weight stack for lat pull downs/low rows and the FT is a sweet plus but I also love my belt squats on the Rhino. I’m holding out to see what Rogue ends up releasing as well as the eventual reviews from the community but I’m glad I held out so I’ll be able to keep my Rogue ecosystem intact.
The rhino is such a well built piece. You would think they would have been able to build off of that at this point. The difficulties of this setup are very apparent. I love having the Ares, but also understand the issues. I’m excited to see what Rogue comes up with
Love your stuff Coop!
You need to school yourself on Delrin and UHMW as they are important in gym equipment and can be expensive so understanding the different plastics, their costs and benefits is important to your viewers. 😊
Just a guess, but look at Titan's plate loaded functional trainer(I own one.) The Titan version only has a single "stack" but it has 2:1 on the pulley handles but 1:1 for lat pull down and low row. Running the pulleys was a major pain in the butt when I put it together.
If you go on Titan's website you can look at all the schematics for putting something together and look at all the pulleys.
It's not complicated, the cable from the stack goes directly to both the low and high pulls, but for the functional trainer that has another pulley that just pulls on the line, which cuts the load in half. Something like,
_____
connects to pulley-> | |
pulley on low row line -> O |
| | * func trainer
| |
to stack*__| |__*low row
The Titan fitness plate loaded functional trainer also does the same engineering trick to get a 2:1 functional trainer with 1:1 lat/low row using one stack. If you look at the pictures on Titan's website, there are a lot of pulleys needed to make this work. There's literally a 2:1 pulley joiner that seems to be the key piece to make this work. No doubt that Rogue's version will be much higher quality, but I would assume the basic engineering of the pulley layout is the same. I wish more functional trainers would add this option to have a lat/low row built in.
If you workout with your significant other, this would be the best use because it’s a single stack. Wish it had dual stack, but it would then add another $1000-1500 in cost & then you have shipping
Hey coop you seen iron edges new rack that has cables all in one?
Coop, I just got the Arcadia. Where am I going to put this?
Pulley system (movement) is reminiscent of the Marcy Pro smith/functional trainer.
Coop! Do you know if there is ANY Foldable Rack that also allows you to incorporate a Cable System somehow to keep everything as compact as possible?? Please help if you can. thanks! Other (less favorable) would be - The most compact footprint rack with cable system (unfoldable).
On their site it says the rack needs to be bolted to the ground. Hopefully they’ll have some options for people to bolt it to the wall instead, or not bolt it down at all by having some legs coming out in the front or something.
If they are integrating the Rhino trolley for a plate loaded version of this, can we please get a stand alone plate loaded lat pulldown/low row from Rogue. Please and thank you.
Now we need them to start integrating free motion cables systems through jammer arms.
Are they going to come out with a bench for the lat pulldowns that integrates into this?
Been waiting for this for almost 5 years. I think even Titan Fitness had something like 5 years ago
The single stack pulley is done the same way they do the weight plated pulley systems.
I have a rack that has 1:2 on the variable and 1:1 on the overhead on both sides (OEM via China) so it can't be too hard.
I wish there was a good video comparing these to the prime prodigy rack.
I wish Prime would detail their racks better on the site. Shipping makes it damn near $7K though which is crazy.
@@raven-19x and no free onsite assembly as these beasts are a pain in tbe arse to put together by yourself!
I priced the 6 post Rogue rack with the cable add on against the Rep PR-5000 6 post with Ares and they are within $100 of each other with Rep being more expensive.
Coop, the lat.pulldown being "too close" in your review looks like the bar is in a storage position. There's a hook that holds it high in storage. When it's off the hook, it hangs further away.
I would buy aluminum pulleys or order aluminum pulleys every time. HUGE difference absolutely worth it for the feel. Our FT-1 is a far better feel than the ML Slinger. Also, would love to see a leg roller attachment option for benches for leg curl/ ext. I think that would also function as a lat pull down seat that isn't always attached to the rack. I have the low row/ lat seat for my ML Slinger on the RML-06 its a pain to set up and tear down.
For gosh sakes can we get a pull down seat for the FT-1 already. I'm not hating I just want more ROGUE!
Great that they are creating some new equipment- I am not someone that would want the pulley system added to the rack system. I prefer the functional trainer standing alone so that I can use it as a true Functional Trainer. The Free Motion Dual Cable Cross Lite is the best functional trainer i have ever used.
well for 10k plus it better be! I wish you could do lat pulldown and rows on them
@@GuitarsAndSynths i paid around $4000 for it new, delivered and installed. I can do pulldowns and rows on it. I bought the Darko shorty bar attachment and you can hook both stacks together. But I still can’t pull each stack with 1 handle on each stack. Rows are awesome in it. When you use a handle instead of a bar the load feels greater because you have less leverage
Just seen they are also going to release the fm-6 twin functional trainer dual stack
"like our imported competitors" 😂 I love it 💪
The competitors who offer more weight, for less money
I ordered the Rep Arcadia two months ago, not knowing if/when Rogue would come out with an alternative. My heart sank when I saw these offerings. I'll be jealous of those of you who are lucky enough to add these to your garage gyms. I am impressed.
rep is overpriced junk. I made the same mistake as you but I'll be upgrading to rogue later on.
@@MetalsForBrunch, Rep decided to not publish my review. Did you have issues with the shrouds not having fasteners?
Rep didn’t publish my reviews either or give me the bonus points for writing the reviews. I bought the Blackwing bench and a Rogue “Coop” Squat right before Christmas based on GGR reviews and I feel like Coop was spot on for both. I would really like to use my Rhino for a functional trainer but I don’t want to give up the belt squat, it’s been a game changer for me.
@EricB501 - great to hear on the belt squat! I almost ordered a Rhino, but wanted a functional trainer instead, so I picked up the insanely priced Sorinex rack attachment and love it. If Coop's prediction of a Rhino/Functional Trainer comes true, I am going to sell the Arcadia.
Can you review the Dialed Motion Ibex system?
What do you mean 2nd to market? Bodycraft rft? Inspire SCS?orFT2? Jacked Up Power Rack Pro? Force X or G series? Just wish one of them would raise the low row up! Would libe to hear a rebiew of the jacked Up and Bodycraft combos. Is there a reason you havent reviewed either? I guess ill qait. Bit longer before buying a combo Rack/FT/Lat pull dn and low row.(smiths is nice but not necesary, ill take it if i have to). I Enjoy your reviews. I hope to see other brand reviews in the future.
I prefer the ares because it’s only 16” depth
I was at the arnold and tried it. Feels commercial, very high quality as usual. There was also a wall mount on it. Definitely way too expensive to outclass the athena and I think the additional customization on the ares makes it a worse option, not to mention only 1 stack. Really no reason to buy it unless youre deep into the monster accessories already
As curious as I am to learn more about Rogue's offering I think Rep wins out of the gate because they offer the 80" option that will fit in my basement.
Other than barbells is seems like Rogue has left the home gym community behind. You can see rep designing products specifically for home gyms, while Rogue still seems to be focus on commercial gym sales. For example, Rep just released a $2,000 compact functional trainer that is smooth and looks high quality. Rogues only stand alone functional trainer is $6,500. I'm sure it's amazing and if you have no budget, go for it. But the FT-1 from Rogue seems marketed to a group class gym owner, while the Arcadia seems to be marketed to the high end garage gym goer. Same goes for Reps open trap bar and adjustable dumbbells.
You gonna do a review on the Prx new limitless ripcord?
@GarageGymReviews Rogue has changed the copy on their site to reference "optional shrouds" so it looks like they are listening.
Well about 1.5 yrs too late. I love rogue but went Rep for my new rack last yr because I wanted a simple lat pulldown option, future upgrades, and supporting a company that is clearly innovating and providing great value.
Yeah if you like subpar stuff yeah rep is great. Rep is no one's first choice . Can even manage to make a true 3x3 upright
@@Pler1978 give me a warning next time. About spit out my coffee at that joke.
Coop the lat pullfdown bar is ziptied to the rack, it sticks out like 3 more inches in reality
I like the one stack option, I hope it feels nice but not having to set two separate stacks is nice.
Since i already have a weight stack slinger, I wonder if i can have them both on the rack.
do they ship those to europe ? specifically romania ?
hopefully they add the lat pulldown seat or a version that can fold down to be out of the way when using the rack.
I asked them about it amd they said they are thinking about it...
Prime Fitness makes one but they charge 2k for shipping. I wish that Life Fitness/Hammer Strength would come out with a combo rack and functional trainer.
Will rogue or rep sell the components to add these cable setups to already purchased racks?
When you're criticizing the lat pulldown down bar too close to the structure, if you look closely at your zoom @7:51 the bar seems to be just attached for convenience but once released it gets spaced, the whole pulley is far from the structure.
Once they make it monster lite compatibility I would think about it
Look at the ER Kang functional trainer. It's wuality is not close to REP but the pulley housing at the handles allow you to attach the carabiners together and get 1:1 ratio
Only one like that Ive seen
My only hope is that Rogue produces a similar option for the Monster Lite racks. Due to a lot of times Rogue always preferences the Monster line and dismisses the Monster Lite.
Titans plate loaded functional trainer has the same 2:1 on the side pulleys and 1:1 on the lat pulldown and low row. I think. I have it.
Edit: Actually, I'm not too sure, lol...
Just found out from Rogue that the weight is divided by 4 if using both front pulleys for cable cross chest type exercises. If selecting 100 pounds, it will be 50 on one side, but feel like 25 if you use both front pulleys. This is why I like Ares 2.0 better.
I'm already barbells deep into the REP ecosystem. Too little too late here with rogue.
Well competition is always good. Rep will have to compete and you can buy that competing product so we all win.
And you saved money. Rogue is a few K$ more expensive.
I wholly agree and I’m in the REP ecosystem already too. But this is good for all the new customers and everybody going forward to have competition and options.
I know with personal rescue, one pulley is 1:1 and if you use two pulleys to change direction, you get 2:1.
The lack of sub 90" Rogue racks continues to keep them out of race for me and any other people who use their basement for working out. Why won't Rogue make an 80" rack? They can overbuild the crap out of their racks, but I think they are missing a serious piece of sales due to not catering to people with low ceilings. 🤷♂️☹️
or those of us with low ceiling height garages!
Thinking about starting my home gym… should I buy the rm6 and get the add ons later or wait till this baby releases in may and get it all together?
You may want to consider the cost of shipping. Also note that manufacture and delivery can take some time so you could be talking June-September delivery if this thing goes up for sale some time in May. Personally, if the shipping weren't too bad, I'd buy the RM-6 now. I ordered mine at the beginning of October and didn't get it until February due to a whole bunch of screw ups with the shipping... Hopefully that sort of thing doesn't happen too often but for me it was excruciating!
Probably altogether to get cheaper shipping, possible even free if they offer it.
Hey Coop tell us about that hat please ?
Where did you get those dumbbells behind you?
it looks like you can still mount a flying pullup bar on this as well
Do you think titan will come out with there own version of a functional trainer as well
I’m curious about your hat brand 🤔
Hello Coop, it's FRIENDS!
That's some pretty serious competition. Does rep Plan to come out with a plate loaded option? If they do I would probably get the rep because I liked what they've done with their build.
I wish they would, I hate plate loaded version of the Athena is side-mounted. Making it impossible to have the side mounted weight tree. So you have no where to store your weights this seems like a massive over sight on Reps part.
what's the brand of dumbbells behind you?
