Probably been done but as a new home gym owner I would love to see a video solely on gym organization ideas for all the new stuff. Wall control and barbell racks I get. What to do with rack attachments, specialty bars, and other items that quickly expensive new toys into junkyard.
The rogue monster storage rack is the same price as the smaller rack, but can hold attachments like dip bars, AND if you have space, buying 2 of them ALTHOUGH EXPENSIVE, will give you 3 columns worth of storage since you will have 4 upright legs
If you own a lot of kettlebells, bumper plates, and medicine balls, I highly recommend buying a Titan Fitness Mass Storage System Core Unit. I like mine so much for my slam ball collection, I bought a second one for my kettlebell collection, but I had to cut up 11& 1/4 inch wide lumber to put on top of each shelf, which cost me less than another $30 to do. I did a TH-cam video on my two Titan Fitness Mass Storage System Core Units if you want to see what they look like.
Cool. Thank you for the ideas. Appreciate it.
Prxperformance storage
@@CCAdventure11 I’ll check it out
Every gym needs a flickering hanging naked bulb and a dripping water pipe attached to the ceiling. Once you have those two things installed, you’re legit 😂
Plyo box (great for kids too), Rx balls, bands, electric heater (no ventilation required)
Landmine, beater bar for the landmine and a Viking press attachment for it.
Combo leg curl / leg extension !
Landmine & a heavy bag. Landmines with an attachment or tow are so useful and versatile it's unreal. And a heavy bag, who doesn't want to hit $hit and I love lifting and tossing around a heavy bag as well.
Two items I waited forever to get and couldn't live without them now is the Sphere Multi Grip Pull-Up rack attachment and commercial grade plyo boxes (18", 12", 6" from perform better) so much better than other options out there for not that much more in cost. I can use the boxes as a stand up desk, jumps, step ups, and hip thrusts. And all the different grip options just makes pull ups more fun.
It’s definitely worth it to have both flat & adjustable benches. I often set them both up during workouts. I got Rogue’s fold away flat bench that hangs on the wall when not in use.
Secondly it’s really super nice to have a ceiling mount pull up bar separate from the rack. That way I can load the rack up & not have to worry about super setting pull ups.
Same goes for a ceiling mounted rings hanger. I didn’t think it would be that great - but let me tell you : it is SO NICE to get those rings & straps out the rack. You can also put hooks in your ceiling for hanging the rings out of the way, and for the extra strap length when you aren’t doing lots of adjustments.
I finally upgraded my lighting. Wow. Huge difference. It is like a whole new experience. Love going to the basement now.
A Mirror is a 2nd tier item! Allot of us did the bench fix so that’s really double dipping on that one!
I agree with lighting addiction but what about sound system for motivation, I know earbuds work great, but when you have friends over to workout together you need some toons to share, so you all can jam and conversate…
If you have a smaller space, there are some good Bluetooth speakers as a budget option. I have a Bose one that sounds great for the size and price, and does the job for my two car garage.
I would personally recommend buying a small tv. Maybe like a 32 inch for $100. I've starter being way more consistent after installing one in my home gym. Anytime I'm watching a football or basketball game, I'd just tell myself that I could be working out while watching it, so I'd get off the couch and go to my gym.
In Florida, a quality ceiling or wall mounted fan is a must. I added a variable speed Air King that pushes a ton of air and it makes an incredible difference in those sweltering months. Plus, the wall/ceiling mount saves your floor space.
Florida man here, I approve this message!
A sled was a great purchase along with c2 machines
For those with a rack, the easiest way to do Nordic Curls is to buy a lat pulldown knee holder, lock it in a little higher than your bench, tuck the back of your lower legs under the knee attachment, and you're good!
i do nordics on my ironmaster bench. I put my heels under the sit up attachment.
Sound. Listening to audible for the workout, then cranking something heavy to punch the bag etc is just extra nice. Not necessary, but nice.
Awesome vid, top quality as usual!
This may be a 3rd tier item but I purchased the EliteFTS Signature Leg Extension/Ham Curl machine. Outside of squatting and deadlifting, I felt I needed something for lower body accessory moves. This is plate loaded, but a great and well built piece. You can even seal row on it, depending on space.
It is definitely a piece that only does two things and takes up a bit of room, but I love being able to do leg extension/curls.
Having both an aggressive power bar and a rather passive crossbar is a must for me. As someone who trains for powerlifting, I am shocked at how often I use my passive crossbar! My most important training is done with my power bar, but most of my training is done with a crossbar. OHP, any pulling with straps, front squats, rows, sumo, cleans, zercher...
Open trap bar is also great for shrugs and farmers carries.
I would consider a deadlift jack and bands for sure.
Tier 3? Flooring!! Anything but horse stall mats. We need a video with options, including turf for a sled
I highly recommend the Suples HIRTS (High Intensity Rope Training System) Fighter and the Suples Spartan Bar. Both are amazing exercise equipment, and a lot different than lifting weights.
The Suples HIRTS Fighter is like resistance bands with sleeves, but it is a very cheap replacement for a Nautilus pullover machine plus you can do a lot of other exercises with it, like rows and curls.
The Suples Spartan Bar allows you to move 360 degrees in a circle while you do unbalanced push-ups along with moving up and down from one side to the other.
The Suples HIRTS Fighter is reasonably priced, but the Suples Spartan Bar is expensive, but both are totally worth their price.
I've been running a Rogue squat stand with pull-up bar and a dip attachment for a few years now. Just added a Bells of Steel curl bar a few weeks ago. Not the most versatile piece of equipment, but being able to add curls and skullcrushers to my weekly routine has been a lot of fun. Long term I'd like to swap my flat bench for an adjustable, add adjustable dumbbells of some sort, and ideally a lower-end cable system. Couldn't agree more on heat though.
GGR: Please do a video about the best grip strength accessories. Everything online looks poor quality to me, can't tell what's good. Thanks! And I love your content!
Good idea. I'll work on it! Any specific brands you think I should order from? - Coop

Honestly, gym gloves is all I need for winter workouts in the garage. The cold air isn’t that bad
hey coop i use these magnets hooks i found at amazn to add alot of attachments to the side of my cage. very helpful.
My best garage gym upgrade EVER was a bigger garage! I bought a new house with a garage that's about 10 feet longer, game changer! ;)
Mostly in agreement honestly. From my perspective, after the essentials, the lack of leg isolation was the first thing I wanted to address. Picked up a Hybrid Leg Ext/Leg Curl and a Calf raise (mainly because it was a steal). After that added some dual pulleys for additional isolation options all round. Keeping it at that for now, gotta balance space & ease of access. I definitely find if the place is cluttered id be much more likely to not train knowing I have to clean the entire space before its usable.
“Gotta collect em all”
Nice to confirm Coop was a Pokémon nerd in his time like I was 😂
What about a cardio piece? Echo bike I’d say should make the tier 2 list
It depend on user just choose type of cardio you like.
Coop, what type of hooks or attachments did you get for your omniwall metal pegboards? Most I'm seeing are metal which is not the best for knurling.
Have you reviewed Elite Pro Equipment
Specifically the FST2 Monster cage with all attachments included?
Resistance bands. I use them for corrective exercises and occastional rehab.
I would like to redo my essentials video. I think I would put resistance bands up there. For the price, the resistance you can get is amazing. I'm a believer. - Coop
Excellent idea. I'd also love to know the best "assist" bands, since I'm working on pullups.
Hey Coop, what paint color and brand is on your walls in the room where you’re filming? Looks grey blueish. Thanks!
What do you think of the jacked up fitness pro rack?
The new passing upgrade on the IronMaster Superbench is GREAT! It’s only $100 and can be used on both V1 and V2. I just added it to my V1 and couldn’t be happier
Seat on that bench sucks. Making it an outdated design now.
What is the best way you recommend insulating? A garage door used to have a basement gym. Just moved everything into the garage, and holy crap , it's cold.
Which do you prefer for cable system, the bells of steel or the titan fitness wall mounted one?
I put a short throw projector, so I can follow online training classes. Less lighting, better image for projector.Thinking of addind the voltra 1 for pulley system...
New to the channel, been enjoying the reviews.
I got back in the gym after having some hardware removed from combat wounds. I have the luxury of gym access on Camp Pendleton USMC base. That said, the world has changed since covid and everybody wipes down the equipment after every use even if not sweaty. I was shocked. Also funny are the dudes and gals who cant take their eyes off of them selves. Yeah, time to add to my home gym, which right now consists of a TotalGym fit, amd kettlebells/bands. Looking to add a Ironmaster IM2000 self spotter.
what is the flooring in your garage gym? Which tiles? Thank you!
Went with a tonal instead of the cable machine. More expensive but takes up way less space in a tight gym area
Hey coop whats the best flooring for my gym???
Earthquake Bamboo Bar saved my shoulders, knees and hips..... for real
I cannot find the mentioned link to hex lighting suggestions..
Leg curl / leg extensions was a big add for me. Good to have some isolation & less systemically fatiguing leg options.
This is the next add to my garage. I've been researching like crazy. TBH, waiting for some options that are getting ready to come out. Keep your eyes peeled (but, I didn't tell you this...) - Coop
@@GarageGymReviewsI like the Titan leg extension they have! Looking into that one. Hopefully you do a review on leg extension machines 😉
@@GarageGymReviewsyou’ve got to focus on LYING leg curl/hamstring combo. Lying leg curl is the optimal movement as opposed to the seated. Extremely happy to see you are finally looking into these and I hope to see many reviews coming out soon
Just received the SHOGUN NORD-EX™ this machine is awesome. Also wanted the thank you for the discount code $150 off and free shipping
Gymnastics sprung floor is obviously the first purchase :D
I added a the Rogue 3,0 adjustable bench to my basic Rogue flat bench, just as Coop suggested. I am a little disappointed with the textured foam pad that comes with the 3.0 adjustable bench, it simply is too firm/hard and uncomfortable. I much prefer the vinyl padding of my old flat Rogue bench. Coop, could you suggest to Rogue that they should offer the vinyl pad as an option? Have you heard of any other complaints regarding Rogue’s textured foam pad?
Coop, what is the watch you are rocking in this video?
What low pulley attachment do you recommend?
SSB was such a game changer for me
I love having a landmine attachment.
Coop, what are my options for outdoor gym equipment for strength training. Area is roof Covered with open walls. Environment tropics.
do a review on dropset pins coop
Is a good sound system 2nd or 1st tier?
What watch are you wearing in the video?
I have the Keiser Functional Trainer. So versatile for home training.
very expensive though? a rack mounted solution should give close to the same advantages with at least a 50 per cent saving.
@@andersbjrnsen7203 I use the explosive/power functionality a lot that you can’t get from other cables. I was fortunate I had it in my commercial gym in USA and took it with me when I moved to another country. Yes expensive for most.
Also like the 0.1lb loading advantages
I want to add leg specific plate loaded machines to my home gym, so I can get a more targeted exercises on my leg days and variations from just my barbell work. I am trying to be economical, and to decide between Option 1 and Option 2:
Option 1
Titan Leg Extension / Curl Combo V2
Titan Vertical Leg Press
Option 2
Titan Leg Press / Hack Squat Combo
Note: Currently leaning toward Option 1. And toward Titan because of price point. If any other brand suggestions in similar range, would love to hear you guys opinions.
Also I live abroad, so I cant physically test stuff out before purchase, and when I ship these things... thats it they are mine, no returnsies etc
my suggestion: learn sissy squat, reverse nordics, assisted sissy squats etc. these will replace and in many ways beat, the extension machine. nordic hamstring will replace leg curl, but is pretty brutal.
Would you recommend YBELLS too?
oh yeah, need more of Coop without a shirt in my life. lol
😂
I am new to your site! I really appreciate all the insight and demonstrations. However, it would be nice to hear a response when inquiring about specifics. Thanks COOP!
Good day sir. Have always loved the channel. Its like my dream store that i know i can never have anything at it lol. Im a single dad 46yrs old 6'5" 240 more then average belly fat love handles lol. 2 kids 19 and 8 so both expensive. Im a journeyman Carpenter and im poor in thi gs for dad. I want to be in the best shape of my lifeby 50. Im from north bay, Ontario,Canada. I thought inheard you say you have to get rid of older equipment to make room for the new lines of product. I dont ask for anything except good health for my children. If you can ever find aspot in your heart to toss anything my way. I seen those newer machines or whatever the name is of the portible compact systems. But im strong as heck so i dont know if id break them lol. Or a bowflex type thing. Ex-wife take me back to court due to new hubby not working. And the kids"she gets once a month "can't have to keep there way of living because it can lead to depression and behavioral disorders. She was awarded it and I just about puked. So now I pay a grand per child instead of $520 each. I would be forever in your debt . One thing in life and a woman is holding it back while she has bought him a full hex freeweight set and 2 hmer strength peices. They were 8-9 grand a peice my kids said he Bragg's that I can't get a gym or even afford a gym membership which I got kids so I gotta be home every our they are which is awesome but I can't get getting in shape outta my mind. Especially after they stole my bowflex it was something 3000, it looked beautiful in a picture lol. My name is Jamie Davis 10 Barley Road, north bay, Ontario, Canada. P1A 0G4
I got 30 yrs carpentry so if you ever need anything and I mean anything built,I'll do it for free, even if you can't help me out. I just appreciate you and all you do on your channel. It gives me hope that there are still nice folk in the world. And my word is all I got left so my offer always stands sir. I appreciate your time and good health to your family coop.
Storage has been the biggest upgrade for me-- peg board, barbell rack, and then just schedule 40 pipe stuck into the 1 inch holes of my rack to hold loose plates has been a game changer
spreaderBar is the best cable attachment
dip attachment for the rack
There is a different Mr. Buddy for sale only in MA and CA that gives off substantially less carbon monoxide. It can be found online if you don't live in one of those states.
I purchased the Dyna-Glo
50K - 200K BTU Propane Convection Heater but not a fan of having to leave the garage open nor a fan of the smell due to Carbon Monoxide. Need to find a better option for sure.
Standalone water cooler. Nothing screams fitness like proper hydration.
lying leg curl/ leg extension combo
How about a review of Brute Force Australia?
Different handles--------like viking press handle ect.
Are there any reliable studies/results from doing Nordics? Knees Over Toes guy notwithstanding, I am reticent to spend money on something without it being proven to not become a dust collector
For my home gym(basement) I really need a ceiling. My wife won’t workout down there cause she doesn’t like lookn at the insulation.
= Hey Coop I just ordered a Y2 💯💯
Resistance bands
What about a battle rope?
My homegym is always growin’
As a society we think we have to always be comfortable. Working out in the heat and the cold can be good for us! Guys post instagram pics of their ice bath but won't workout unless its 72 degrees in the gym, LOL!
Plyo box and/or airbike
Mr Heater is the goat. I also have a Zippo hand warmer for the real cold days. If you have steel plates in a cold gym wear gloves while loading them to prevent your hands going so numb
I just built out my garage gym and yep, double bells of steel cable towers and iron masters super bench pro v2. Getting my lighting done next week. I’m clearly in your tier 2 level.
Went all in on the stainless steel Ohio power bar, too.
Can we get a Nordics comparison video? Like what’s of value at 3 or 4 different price points.?
COOP! (at garage gym reviews) I got a weird question- in the ABSENCE of a rack, does a straight bar or open trap bar have more versatility?
Thanks for the great reviews.
Straight bar, IMO. Easier to get in rack position for pressing without a rack. - Coop
@@GarageGymReviews Yea i agree. Straight bar. Before I had a rack. I had just a bar, adjustable dumbbels, bench and weight plates. And i got AMAZING workouts in. i used it as a time to learn and work on olympic lifts + continued doing deadlifts.
5k hospital lighting is the only way to go. Almost as good as pre workout in the morning.
Indian Clubs, Heavy Bag, Medicine Ball
I have dimmers on my lighting. Depends on what im doing. What kind of brightness depends on mood also
When I move into a house, dimmers are one of the first things I add to any room I spend much time in. A must-have for me.
just to clarify coop, propane is cheaper than electric but NOT cheaper than a heatpump, a heatpump is multiple times more energy efficient than a closed system electric heater because it brings in heat from outside
I agree on most things, but not the nordic bench. There are so many ways to do them without a designated bench.
I agree-- especially, since nordic curls are extremely hard to do. I bought a nordic bench for my basement gym, but I rarely use it because nordic curls are extremely hard to do.
@@shiwakuseven5859 keep working on it. I couldn't do a single one at first. took a long time. (work on negatives mainly). and then one day i just tried it and boom i did like 3. You feel like a GOD when u can finally do multiple up and down
Tris for the guys
Hoard, & store but get it off the floor!
Speakers
A gym dog...shout out to Famous Amos!!
Coop, you must check out this eonfit power rack 2024 version❤
Regarding heat... it's 85 degrees in Texas in February... not looking forward to trying to keep cool this summer in my home gym!
My home gym is in my house and I can tell you from the last 5 years when it is 95 degrees or hotter outside and 73 to 75 inside after a few sets I start to get drenched. There isn’t an ac that could keep my garage cool enough. That is why I had to have my gym indoors.
Not super related, sorry, but best chance someone sees this on the newest video; Are "multigyms" not a thing at all in the US, or am I just blind going through these videos? Built-in seat with a cable top and bottom, a leg ext and two vertical metal arms for chest flys/press. That kind of thing, from like the 90s? Separate leg ext and chest fly machines are too pricy / take up too much space for me.
All solid suggestions, but I’m not sure things like “lighting” and a propane heater belong in the same tier as an adjustable bench and cable machine.
I think this list is missing isolation machines, which are very useful for more safely exhausting muscles, especially during deep calorie deficits.
Things like Bulletproof Isolator and VTS - or even leg curls
Brother you need to spend money on clamps for the barbell.
I don't get the point of getting a flat bench first. Are you better off getting an adjustable one out the gate so that you don't have to think about. The point is to get something good, budget friendly and efficient. You can totally get an adjustable that meets all 3.
