Well, at least due to Quote's proportions a mii costume with the Sans or Cuphead style would be possible. But of course, him being playable would be best-case scenario (Also Curly)
God he should at LEAST get a Mii Costume, but as a character he has SO much potential for an interesting moveset and playstyle, and that's without considering how much of a tryhard Pixel was when making the game! 5 years in development, he rebooted it once, he made a WHOLE music format like MIDI as well as software to make music for said format ON HIS OWN, and did the pixel art stuff when that was considered a thing of the past. Quote would be such a great pick, I really wish he happens.
Lloyd is a very cool choice for a Bamco character, but there’s one Bamco character (or actually characters) that I think most of the community overlooks (or doesn’t even know of at all) Reiji and Xiaomu from the Project X Zone series, a series of Tactical RPGs that started on PS2 and then had 2 3DS exclusive games. It’s a crossover between Bamco, Capcom and Sega, but the original characters are owned by Bandai Namco They’d be a Tag Team fighter, but unlike Ice Climbers or Pokémon Trainer, the other character can move would have a unique moveset and move and attack freely. You would be able to switch between the two, but with a cooldown. To balance them out, they would share damage so for example if you dealt 75 to Reiji and 50 to Xiaomu, they’d both have 125% damage. Reiji’s fighting style has him switch between 3 elemental blades and he also has a shotgun and a magnum. Xiaomu wields two swords and two pistols and she also uses magic, bombs and even wrestling moves The big thing is that they could incorporate is other characters that appeared in the PXZ games such as KOS MOS, Kazuma Kiryu and Dante into their Side Special, not everyone can get in and it’s better than just a Spirit, right?
I honestly could see Agumon from Digimon being the 2nd Namco character. Pokemon vs Digimon is a classic 90s rivalry that would be great to see realized for the first time, and Agumon could stand out by being able to Digivolve throughout the fight, not only changing his moveset but also his size and weight class. I'm a little surprised that you didn't have him listed at all for all the potential Namco characters.
Kind of like a pokemon trainer/ joker fusion Where base agumon is light and quick He can.digivolve to greymon and is now a heavy/slow but strong attacks and has ability to digivolve back to agumon And have a meter that you have to time perfectly to get wargreymon whos a light heavy with strong attacks kind of like arsen
That is one of my predictions, one of the lowest but is one lol I don't care what Difimon, just adding a Digimon could be one of the best freaking DLC characters that Nintendo could have revealed, it could mind blow every fan.
Your videos are always a highlight of the day! So glad to see you consider Quote having a somewhat-decent chance. If he got in the game, I'd probably cry. Cave Story was one of the first indie games I've ever played, and one of the first Smash Bros. Character concepts I've ever designed. Rayman would be a really cool addition, and I'd love to see him get revealed alongside the ARMs rep for a goofy trailer for a couple of long-reaching fighters!
That reveal would be super awesome, and super practical. I'd love to see Quote too, he totally deserves it. I have a feeling that Quote will end up like Sans or Cuphead though, his proportions work really well for premium Mii Costume.
I routing for Crash Bandicoot, I feel like his chances are really high, due to him being one top requested and Activison and Nintendo having a not so bad relationship, if he doesn't make it in I'll be okay with that as long as Rayman or Dante does I guess I'll be fine!
I rather go for Spyro because he would play quite differently as a quadroped. The only real quadropedal fighter is Ivysaur. Pikachu/Pichu are so small that their stance is largely irrelevant.
My big gripe with these predictions is how safe they feel. ARMS was out of left field, and at the same time it wasn’t, it was unpredictable, and even though I’d really like some of these, my only expectation at this point is to be caught off guard.
I kinda agree with you. Yeah, a lot of these characters are people who are already safe bets like Geno, Steve, Hayabusa, and Sora, but I do think at least out of all of them Hayabusa and Sora has the better chance since we had Banjo-Kazooie beforehand so it's not impossible. Monster Hunter I feel has no chance as his game developers has said many times that they rather have the monsters be the promotional and not the hunter, which is why they were VERY unhappy when the hunter was put into Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. He's only a popular choice because of his games success and Ratholos being a boss in the game. Granted I'm not saying there won't be a Capcom rep. I'm just saying that Monster Hunter's chances are extremely low.

Monster Hunter is a safe bet because of the game's popularity and Rathalos being a boss in the base game. Geno, Ray Man, and Sora being fan demanded characters for many years like Banjo Kazooie was. Lloyd and Geno because I think Sakurai once stated that they have potential(?) to get in or something. Hayabusa because he's one of the remaining golden era video game characters left, and IAmShifty boosting his popularity as well. Steve do to Minecraft's success and many things. Don't know about Quote though. That seems to be the most wild card out of the group in this video so I can't really say if Quote a safe bet or not. In the end I still think it's kinda pointless to try and predict the fighters. Mostly because of Nintendo's unpredictable nature and Sakurai's love for surprises, so while the safe bets *CAN* still happen it's also highly possible that the safe bets won't happen. It's literally like a dartboard, except the large single areas are now all small triple areas each representing video game characters from all the hundred different games in the world making it a low chance of the dart hitting the character you want. IE 1 in 100 chance any of them will make it in.

I’m excited for vol.2 so I’m just gonna throw out my wishlist for the newcomers: 1. ARMS (I’d prefer Twintelle or Dr. Coyle, but Min Min and Misango would be incredibly fun as well) 2. I’d be pretty psyched with almost any Square character getting in smash. (Geno, Neku, Chrono, Lara, Sora, 2B?, etc.) 3. Same with the big boi shooters (Master Chief, Doom Slayer) 4. Another fighter/shoto (Tekken? MK? I think Sub-Zero could work best with smash’s kid-friendly nature) 5. An indie/smaller game (Shantae, Reimu, etc.) 6. An anime swordie (Ryu Hyabusa, Dante, Travis, 2B again, Lloyd, it doesn’t matter who if they’re fun) 7. random throwout: Amaterasu. I think she’s neat. Mii Costumes: Steve w/music Hollow Knight w/music I’d also (unrealistically) like a DLC Xenoblade stage, I just really love the game. I forgot, a Pokemon character is very likely, I just don’t have an idea for who.
Puts Reimu from Touhou in "Indie/Smaller game". Touhou is huge in Japan with around 20 or more games in her series, founded doujin and a famous doujin convention, Reimu got a new breed of flower named after her, and Touhou was one of the inspirations for Undertale.... Yep. One of the smaller games indeed.

Here’s what 3rd party I wanna see in Smash with the mechanics: 1) Phoenix Wright Mechanic: his goofy playstyle, similar to his appearance in MVC3, but with less frame data. Tbh, I just wanna see an “Objection!” “Take That!” Final Smash. 2) Any Rhythm Game Rep. (Specifically either Hatsune Miku or Karate Joe) Mechanic: Timed attacks. Attacks that are strong or weak depending on a certain rhythm. 3) Reimu Mechanic: Bullet Hell Basically a lot of her projectiles would do little damage, but she can release multiple projectiles at will. She can also dodge projectiles much better than other characters. That’s all I can think of other than the characters mentioned already and Shantae. I like Shantae, but what drags her down is both the indie situation and her costume choices.
Agree with Miku as a rythm based fighter, thatd be really cool, only rythmic thing in smash was DKs final smash back in brawl lol and reimu as a bullet hell fighter sounds cool too didnt thought of it that way but makes sense and would be unique, should be like fox laser or megaman lemons, no or very little knockback... (but could lead to someone like olimar who spams pikmins to rag up damage with low risk)
I’m not a fan of people just copy-pasting Phoenix Wright’s MVC3 move set. There’d be a change in his move set to fit Smash. Mega Man was in MVC but they did something truer to the games he comes from to fit Smash and pay tribute to the Mega Man series. That said, Wright would be hilarious in Smash as he is in MVC.
Thank you for mentioning some new characters. Especially Sora who would be my dream come true! I’m glad that I’m not the only one who’s seriously considered Quote, too! But he’s not as popular a pick as Shovel Knight, the Knight from Hollow Knight, and Shantae. That shouldn’t be a knock against him, however. I’m glad that you’re in the Smash community cuz you’re so chill, easy to talk to, and smart.
I unironically want Steve, Minecraft has been such a big cultural phenomenon for the past 10 years! I'll honestly be happy if we get any Minecraft content. My other biggest wish would be any Hollow Knight content. Those two games are practically my only favorite games that do not have content in Smash already (practically because I also really like Celeste). Edit: Steve is also a skin in Minecraft Dungeons, and he looks great! He even has an idle pose that could be used already, where he turns his head and looks around.

I would love for him to be added but he fits a sans-like mii costume so well, in which case you could throw someone else into the fighter pass. So they would seem cool to me, but, maybe not perfectly executing the pass? I don’t know how to explain it lol
I don’t understand why would he Steve in the video when he literally made another video focused on him, I just feel like Steve has no character. He’s just your generic sandbox protagonist who is often overlooked due to custom skins and stuff. Where as the rest of roster is full of vibrant and memorable personality, Steve just comes up bland compared to the likes of mario, sonic, banjo ect. He’d be much better as a mii costume.
Brandon Williams Sakurai gave a plant and the Miis their unique style man, Sakurai can definitely work around that for Steve Gotta be honest, a stage feels better for Minecraft but Steve definitely could get a unique moveset
Very good video. I find it very well explained and of very good quality. Go on like this! The 3rd-party characters that I want are Agumon (Digimon) & Spyro the Dragon. (I am a big fan of Dragons since my childhood.)
I truly hope that if Steve gets in, they would use a variety of C418 music, and not just the ones from Minecraft. I can think of a few songs from One, 148, 2 Years of Failure, and many others I'd love to see included.
There is also that battle royale mode in Minecraft added a few years ago (least in the Wii U version) and that had some pretty good music so not that also something.

For instance: -His Mii hasnt return even though there was ample time too -There are absolutely no Tales Spirits. -Pac-Man taunt has almost every Namco framchise in it, EXCEPT Tales Of. -Scott Menville(Lloyd's VA) announced he was under NDA last september. Still hasnt announced what its for. -its Tales Of 25th Anniversary this year. What better way to celebrate that then putting a character in gaming's largest crossover -Tales of Symphonia's director is directly helping with Smash Ultimate. It's all coming together😎

I actually think Ryu Hayabusa is the most likely out of all characters: • Sakurai has actually played Ninja Gaiden before (I'm not making that up, he said he bought Ninja Gaiden on the Wii Shop Channel in an interview) • Ninja Gaiden 3 was a Wii U launch title, and briefly an exclusive before being ported to other consoles • Nintendo trusts Koei Tecmo enough to let them use their IPs (Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors) • There are many Tecmo titles on the Nintendo Switch Online NES, including Ninja Gaiden • There are a lot of Koei Tecmo titles on the Switch • Many leakers are saying he's likely • Koei Tecmo has actually helped develop a Nintendo game before, being Fire Emblem: Three Houses • IAmShifty has even claimed Nintendo personally emailed him to not bring up "Ryu Hayabusa" with "Smash" anymore • And my most striking evidence, Koei Temco literally helped in making a Smash trailer, being Byleth's Koei Tecmo's direct involvement with Nintendo is only rivaled by Bandai Namco (who has a character in Smash already). I believe Ryu Hayabusa's inclusion in Smash is a matter of when, not if. But with the amount of attention he's getting from leakers, I'd say him being in Fighter's Pass 2 is a near-guarantee

I don't make a lot of noise for my one "impossible" hopeful but I wonder if for another 3rd party character, Smash could capitalize on the huge Pokemon vs Digimon rivalry from the 90s by including a Digimon character as a representative from that company? Digimon World (PS1) and of course the Tamagochi-like devises came out long before the first anime premiered in Japan. I think that technically means it originated as a "video game series" right? Hey. Maybe you could make a video about unlikely but possible characters that have grey origins as video game franchises? Love your channel!
I like the idea of "unlikely but possible" but I don't think there are that many franchises that could be debated on whether or not they count as video game series as it would be fairly easy to Google what their first release was But then again this is the Smash community where people still think Persona Q2 and Final Fantasy Theatrythm don't exist so Cloud and Joker have never been on a Nintendo system so maybe a video like that would be nessisary for the Google impared
I know this is incredibly unlikely, but I'd love to see Beat from JSR get in. Other then Crazy Taxi, JSR is probably the most iconic Dreamcast originating game out there. Having a character with a unique movement system (with high forward momentum but slow stopping) would really help to differentiate him from the rest of the roster. They could have an Inkling like mechanic with graffiti, and have different sprays and boosts be the specials. Smash Attacks could be things like a large kick downwards, and grabs could involve grinding people against the skate wheels before throwing or kicking them away. Basic attacks could focus on the skates and dancing. The tricks you do while grinding or jumping could be inspiration for aerials and tilts, and there's a variety of options for taunts, victory animations, and alt costumes. The combat would represent the game series pretty well, being a hit and run sort of character. You'd be attempting to space, until you see and opportunity and "tag" the opponent. Over time as you "tag" them more and more, you can do more damage and knockback. Your attacks would have a fair amount of start lag but very little end lag, meaning that you have to make the beginning of your attack count (but it's easy to escape when they manage to recover). The main issue would be recovery, seeing as I can't think of anything from the games that would suddenly launch them upwards. One rather silly idea though, would be that you could grind up a rail or wall that generates underneath the character. The grind itself would be short, and you'd be invincible in that time, but the launch off afterwards would leave you exposed if you don't grab the ledge or retaliate. Also, they'd be rather floaty in the air. Honestly I just think it would be cool to have JSR in Smash. The music, aesthetic, and gameplay is so unique and really stands out in Sega's history. Shibuya Terminal from Jet Set Radio Future is a pretty iconic area, and would make for a great stage. The music selection would be excellent, and it would help to represent the very under-appreciated extreme sport games that ruled consoles in the early to mid 2000's, and still maintains a presence to this day. Also it could coax Sega into making a third entry, which would be a very nice side-effect of a reps inclusion. I know it's a *pipe*-dream, but I still hold a little bit of hope. He sits right next to Doom Slayer, the perfect Mortal Kombat character that I still want included in Smash instead.
@@Komodo772 Same. Hideki Naganuma is a very under-appreciated composer in the grand scheme of things, Smash would be a great way to introduce it to more people. It's the same with the new Arms character Min-Min, the Arms OST is super under-appreciated
I like how well you touched on Ryu Hayabusa and Rayman's potential, but when it comes to Third Party characters, I prefer the underdogs that not many look towards like 2B from NieR Automata (I don't care about the criticism or roadblocks, I still want her) and Beat from Jet Set Radio. I like it when some out of left field character that isn't high on everyone's wish list gets in, because it shows that someone out there actually cares about them and wants them in.
I am ecstatic that you dedicated a section to Quote. As both a Cave Story fan and a huge proponent of indie fighters in Smash, Quote has been my top choice since Smash 4. I even put together a big Google Doc for what I think a Quote Challenger Pack would look like last year.
Just like to mention a few things about Square licensing 1. Square doesn’t own Sora, Kingdom Hearts and all non-FF/TWEWY related music/characters is owned entirely 100% by Disney 2. Square is not exactly stingy, it’s just that art/music/designs of all the games are all owned by different people, which means that if not every single one of them agree, a certain aspect of a pack would lack representation. A good example is DQ, it’s very likely that Akira Toriyama was on board, which is why we managed to get 4 Heroes and all those monsters as spirits, while whoever owned the music was likely more hesitant on giving them to Smash
(7:40) I actually like that idea. After you execute an attack, you can press a button that will make the attacks more powerful for like 3 frames or so; best to only use for slow attacks with long active hitboxes. - The issue is the buffer system; so the attack needs ending lag that is as long as the buffer. So if you press duing the ending lag, it will buffer another attack. Otherwise it will make the attack stronger. - Just to make it fair, you should also be able to deal that extra damage to an opponent 3 frames after they are hit too. So you get a 6-frames window to make it stronger. 1/10th of a second accuracy.
My most wanteds aren't happening but I'd have to say out of the more "likely" guest fighters, I hope to see Lloyd Irving and Ryu Hayabusa. Big fan of both series.

I'm hoping for a mage-like character to play but I can't think of any that have a good shot other than maybe Agnès from Bravely Default. 🤔
Justin Champion Yeah. She’s had a great history with Nintendo, would provide a unique moveset with both her hair whip and Transformations, and Wayforward themselves have been very adamant for her inclusion.
Shantae was more of a 3rd party back in the day from a direct "Indie" from what I have seen, Wayforward seemed to become considered indie later on but even then they still feel 3rd party-ish with the work they did on Ducktales Remastered and all
12:03 Lets not forget Agumon (Digimon) on the bamco side. Originated from a V-Pet, would be great for the Pokémon rivalry side of things. Might not be the best member of his species to pull a moveset from, though.

26:25 I never thought you'd think of *THAT* Eastern Indie Series. Though I'd personally choose her best friend the "Ordinary Magician". Not to mention that trying to balance someone who specializes in homing attacks even more than Sonic would be quite the uphill battle. But what it could open for the soundtrack just might make the whole ordeal worth it.
I have a feeling that an ArcSystemWorks character is most likely gonna have a character in Smash thanks to the River City spirits that were added back in January, while most people look towards the Lee twins from Double Dragon as the best candidates I don’t think it’s happening as the series hasn’t been great in recent years which leaves Guilty Gear & BlazBlue and while Sol Badguy has been in the talks I don’t think it’s gonna be him, there’s nothing really unique from Guilty Gear that Sakurai could pull to make Sol unique and fun and it doesn’t help that he’s not as popular as Bridget & Dizzy who seem to top him in official polls made by the company while BlazBlue’s mascot, Ragna, has a lot more to offer with the follow up attacks, his Soul Eater drive which heals him making him a tricky character to fight against since his defense is pathetic making him a lightweight character his drive would turn a battle around to his favor and his Final Smash having a unique victory screen reminiscing BlazBlue with 4 potential themes that’ll play in his Final Smash, Ao Iconoclast, Shinsou, Chronophantasma & True Blue as sort of victory themes like in the home series
Oh forgot to mention this but Ragna would also have the BlazBlue system as well to make him unique which he can activate when fully charged to activate the Azure Grimoire giving him a temporary attack boost but also through command inputs can use Carnage Scissor & Devoured by Darkness
World That Never Was would be my big favorite pick. Anywhere on the Castle with a view of the partially formed fake Kingdom Hearts, or somewhere in the city area. Twilight Town or Traverse Town could also be great.

I want waluigi still. I genuinely think he can add a lot to the game as a lanky and erratic character who’s known for cheating. And on top of that if waluigi kinda just slotted himself in as a +1 at the end of the dlc it would be PERFECT with his character as cheating his way onto the ballot/ cheating his way into smash
Here me out. I know this is a long shot but ... CONKER THE SQUIRREL!! Conker is my most wanted newcomer by far. Conker’s Bad Fur Day was a super unique game as it didn’t have one particular genre. It was a platformer, first person shooter, racing, horror, etc. And Conker himself is a super unique character. He’s an alcoholic squirrel with tons of personality. Let’s not forget his amazing move set too. From frying pans to baseball bats to even a flamethrower, Conker’s moveset is practically built in. He’d be a super fun character and he can use his “context sensitive” mechanic as his new ability. He’d be an awesome addition to the already massive roster and his reveal would be legendary. Also I feel like very few people would be disappointed in Conker’s addition. Most would be like “Whoa is that Conker?!?!” Yes it is my friends. I pray to god that for some wacky reason Sakurai decided to give him the Banjo and Kazooie treatment and bring him back to where he belongs!! #conkerforsmash
I think her chances are really good and not many people are bringing her up. Sakura Wars is pretty big in Japan, even had it's own cafe. Since the reboot just released it could be a good time for her to join
Frontrunnerss are very hard to nail down especially because over all it seems to be somewhat based on whatever video game is coming out or is being talked about by developers. You know Dante when his gaimes are being re-released or Pokemon because the DLC is coming out a lot of smash speculation tends to run on recency bias. Except when there is little game news then the ground support for a perennial favorite will hijack the discussion. Edit I just remembered that all the characters are already chosen and being worked on so receny should be more based on when the characters were picked then right now.
My 2 most wanted third parties are Phoenix Wright and Rayman, though I have started to accept that the former isn't as likely due to the competition he faces from Monster Hunter and Dante in particular. Rayman however I'm being surprisingly hopeful in, Ubisoft has 2 mii costumes in now and none of them are from his series. That could also be a bad thing I suppose depending on how you look at it, but I digress. Lloyd and Steve are also 2 characters I'd be interested in. (I really need to get back to playing Symphonia.) Though I have taken the furthest back seat to character speculation, I still anticipate the next reveal. Curious to see what happens next!
Monster Hunter rep would be interesting if it was a Palico instead of a generic human hunter. They would still easily focus on trapping and tracking in their moveset and act as a sort of mascot for the series already.
For an indie fighter, I'm more keen to place my bet on Orcane from Rivals of Aether. Rivals' popularity speaks to the impact Smash had on gaming, creating a genre of fighting game that few have been able to successfully capitalize on. Rivals is, to date, one of the few platform fighters outside of Smash that maintains popularity and relevance. Most Rivals characters have a unique mechanic that hasn't been seen in Smash, but Orcane is definitely the standout. Effectively placing and utilizing his puddle is important to offense, movement, and even recovery. Using it too much leaves you with no recovery options, but saving it for emergencies or placing it too far from the opponent significantly reduces your reach and damage output.
If you were to ask me my ideal Cave Story stage would be the outer wall. It would be a beautiful thing to see the moon and clouds of the game’s title screen rendered beautifully in Smash.
I feel that Monster Hunter is only shafted cause Rathalos was probably a more recognizable "icon" of that series. Like people in Japan even recognizes the Hunters in MH through the Monster Armor they wear. And how Byleth just sort of takes their style of fighting.

Cave Story is still my favorite indie game, and I wwould love to see Quote added in, and it'd be cool to see Curly added as well as an echo (though an alt skin is a lot more likely). But, with Nicalis's reputation, I dunno how keen the devs would be on letting him in.
So... You complain about the problems with speculation in the smash comunity but all the characters (except for quote) that you mention are characters that are circlejerk around the smash comunity constantly. Dude, not because people talk a lot about them means that they are likely.

Such a weird choice but thanks to quarantine, I got into Persona 5 (the original one from 2017) thanks to Smash, and now I want Makoto/Queen. I know, how could that work? She’s a spirit already! The series is already represented! But personally, I’d want it because I fell in love with her (I fell in love with pixels basically) from the start.
I’m still holding out hope for Frisk. I think it’s important to note that Undertale hasn’t had a spirit event, while cuphead did soon after the mii fighter released
The 3rd parties I want are: Geno( I love Mario RPG and I really want to see a rep from any of them, but the idea on how Geno could play and I really like the character makes me want him) Doom Slayer( I love Doom and gaming history, so this character being in Smash Bros is a match made in heaven for me) Rayman( I love his games and I like the idea of a limbless fighter) SubZero( I want a true cryomancer in Smash Bros, also I want to see his Injustice 2 victory screen in Smash Bros) Heavy( I love TF2 and I think he’ll be really fun to play) Shantae( Love her games and I like the ideas on how she could play) Shovel Knight( Love his game and I really like the ideas on how he could play) Steve( Love MineCraft and I want to see a crafting base move set in Smash Bros) Makoto( She’s one of my favorite Street Fighter character’s and I think she’ll be really fun) Eggman( Out of all the Sonic reps’ he’s the one I want the most and I want to see more villains in Smash Bros) Lastly Stryker( he’s my second favorite Mortal Kombat character and out of all of them, I think he’ll have one of the more interesting move sets)
Dante( Isn’t like he’s just a sword fighter with two guns like so people think he uses nunchucks, bo staff, dual blades, shotgun, boxing/kick boxing gauntlets, chainsaw motorcycle etc.) 2b ( her game was the most popular game platinums been involved very few fighters from smash are new faces plus she not only swings her weapons with her arms but also controls them with telekinesis not to mention pod abilities) Sora ( Kingdom Hearts has one of the most dedicated video game fan bases I’ve ever seen and has grown an identity completely separate from FF and Disney outside of cameos and references) Sol Badguy ( He’s ArkSystemworks mascot character and they’ve pretty much become the kings of the modern fighting games after capcom s disappointing releases Doom Slayer (a pioneer of one of the biggest genres in all of gaming and there’s still no fps rep in smash and he’d be the only fps character besides tracer that wouldn’t be a campy zones and would instead be rushdown) Kazuma Kiryu ( Yakuza is one of the goofiest series I’ve ever seen and it pretty much the only series sega consistently makes games for now besides Sonic Kiryu would be brawler using various referencing his different styles in smash such as boxing, all round brawler, a slow powerhouse heavy style and his signature legend style while also using his ridiculous finisher like slamming bikes and benches into characters) Crono ( Chrono Trigger is one of the most prolific and influential rpgs of all time being a passion project between the creators of FF, DQ and DBZ it’s still constantly mentioned as one of the best games on snes and rpg genre to this day) Leon Kennedy ( Resident Evil is Capcoms biggest media franchises having its own movie franchise (albeit they aren’t good) and is influential to both survival horror and even 3rd person shooter due to the massive shift in direction seen in RE4 one of the most beloved games of all time)
Beat (Imagine a character dance fighting along to some funky beats, would be pretty neat to see) Sora (Kingdom Hearts was a series I grew up with, and I'm interested in seeing the fire that would start from him being an anime sword fighter except not really since the Keyblade doesn't actually have a sharp edge meaning it's not a sword by definition) The Dovahkiin (He has plenty of moves to use, and the memes will be growing out Smash Bros' ears) Ragna the Bloodedge (I really don't like Ragna, but it'd still be neat to see anime fighters, and Blazblue in general, get a rep) Heavy (Same as the Dovahkiin, the memes write themselves) Sion Eltnum Atlisia (She could definitely make for an interesting character, with gimmicks based both around an ammo meter an Moon Types, plus it'd be neat to see this little know game get in Smash) Master Chief (I have never played a Halo game and TF2 is the only shooter I really enjoy, I just want to see a mature character that uses guns as a primary attack (Joker doesn't count since he only has neutral special))
I've got a super good feeling about Ryu Hayabusa, he screams unique movement and gameplay AND is arguably the last real icon of that era of Nintendo gaming. Yeah, he's not technically a Nintendo character, but most people see him in the same way they see MegaMan or Simon Belmont, basically a Nintendo character. Would round out that era of gaming really nicely, and Sakurai seems to looooove updating NES/SNES characters to a modern incarnation. Feels too good to not happen at this point.
It would be fair to say so was Street Fighter.. and many others. I think Sakurai would be more excited to do a throw based char than he would be concerned what company made the game
Springman can mean an upgrade for both spirit and AT. Ribbon an upgrade to Mii costumes, and the rest would just be spirit upgrades. I don't t hink it matters what kind gets upgraded tho, because the "actual" fanrule is "no upgrades at all". If one of those kinds get upgraded for the sole reason of putting a character that will promote some new game or something, then it can happen to any mii, spirit , or assist trophies. My prediction is that the chances for upgrades are for content that was in base game, I do not expect any upgrade whatsoever from miis, spirits, etc, that came out during Pass 1 DLC fighters were releasing… So only base game content. Great points for Lloyd, I really hope he is the next Namco character to get in. It just makes sense to have the top 3 JRPG franchises from japan in smash, it's been long due…
I feel like for the home stage of Rayman, Band Land would be the most-likely choice! Unique music-themed motif, iconic place and lots of potential with so much different ideas that could be incorporated like the bongo sticks, sliperry bars and wind trumpets! Great video as always! Other third party I'd personally really like to see are Professor Layton & Phoenix Wright!
Also extra fun fact for Level Five Yokai characters...something I remember hearing was that they never want to have a game where Yokai Watch and Pokémon are playable together...idk if it’s still true here but it’s important to remember
My biggest hope for third party characters in Smash is any Sonic character (most notably Tails or Eggman). Other characters I would like to see include Agumon, Jibanyan, Spyro and Steve. Sora would be cool too especially if Disney characters were included as spirits, although I doubt that would happen.
I would like Kat from Gravity Rush. I can see Sakurai implementing her gravity bar so she's not an overpowered air fighter with infinite recovery, but she would still be an aerial oriented fighter. Also, we haven't gotten a true Playstation 1st party character (Persona 1 got released for windows98 and Joker has been featured on 3ds title PQ2). In any case, my top pick still is any summoner from the mainline SMT series, but I keep my expectations on the low side. However, I haven't lost all hope, maybe Sakurai could pay homage to this franchise with a Jack Frost mii costume or if things go crazy, we end up getting the protagonist from SMT V + a new trailer of the game lol

God he should at LEAST get a Mii Costume, but as a character he has SO much potential for an interesting moveset and playstyle, and that's without considering how much of a tryhard Pixel was when making the game! 5 years in development, he rebooted it once, he made a WHOLE music format like MIDI as well as software to make music for said format ON HIS OWN, and did the pixel art stuff when that was considered a thing of the past. Quote would be such a great pick, I really wish he happens.

Lloyd is a very cool choice for a Bamco character, but there’s one Bamco character (or actually characters) that I think most of the community overlooks (or doesn’t even know of at all)
Reiji and Xiaomu from the Project X Zone series, a series of Tactical RPGs that started on PS2 and then had 2 3DS exclusive games. It’s a crossover between Bamco, Capcom and Sega, but the original characters are owned by Bandai Namco
They’d be a Tag Team fighter, but unlike Ice Climbers or Pokémon Trainer, the other character can move would have a unique moveset and move and attack freely. You would be able to switch between the two, but with a cooldown. To balance them out, they would share damage so for example if you dealt 75 to Reiji and 50 to Xiaomu, they’d both have 125% damage.
Reiji’s fighting style has him switch between 3 elemental blades and he also has a shotgun and a magnum. Xiaomu wields two swords and two pistols and she also uses magic, bombs and even wrestling moves
The big thing is that they could incorporate is other characters that appeared in the PXZ games such as KOS MOS, Kazuma Kiryu and Dante into their Side Special, not everyone can get in and it’s better than just a Spirit, right?

I honestly could see Agumon from Digimon being the 2nd Namco character. Pokemon vs Digimon is a classic 90s rivalry that would be great to see realized for the first time, and Agumon could stand out by being able to Digivolve throughout the fight, not only changing his moveset but also his size and weight class. I'm a little surprised that you didn't have him listed at all for all the potential Namco characters.

Cave Story was one of the first indie games I've ever played, and one of the first Smash Bros. Character concepts I've ever designed. Rayman would be a really cool addition, and I'd love to see him get revealed alongside the ARMs rep for a goofy trailer for a couple of long-reaching fighters!
That reveal would be super awesome, and super practical. I'd love to see Quote too, he totally deserves it. I have a feeling that Quote will end up like Sans or Cuphead though, his proportions work really well for premium Mii Costume.

I rather go for Spyro because he would play quite differently as a quadroped. The only real quadropedal fighter is Ivysaur. Pikachu/Pichu are so small that their stance is largely irrelevant.

I kinda agree with you. Yeah, a lot of these characters are people who are already safe bets like Geno, Steve, Hayabusa, and Sora, but I do think at least out of all of them Hayabusa and Sora has the better chance since we had Banjo-Kazooie beforehand so it's not impossible. Monster Hunter I feel has no chance as his game developers has said many times that they rather have the monsters be the promotional and not the hunter, which is why they were VERY unhappy when the hunter was put into Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. He's only a popular choice because of his games success and Ratholos being a boss in the game. Granted I'm not saying there won't be a Capcom rep. I'm just saying that Monster Hunter's chances are extremely low.

Lloyd and Geno because I think Sakurai once stated that they have potential(?) to get in or something. Hayabusa because he's one of the remaining golden era video game characters left, and IAmShifty boosting his popularity as well. Steve do to Minecraft's success and many things. Don't know about Quote though. That seems to be the most wild card out of the group in this video so I can't really say if Quote a safe bet or not. In the end I still think it's kinda pointless to try and predict the fighters. Mostly because of Nintendo's unpredictable nature and Sakurai's love for surprises, so while the safe bets *CAN* still happen it's also highly possible that the safe bets won't happen. It's literally like a dartboard, except the large single areas are now all small triple areas each representing video game characters from all the hundred different games in the world making it a low chance of the dart hitting the character you want. IE 1 in 100 chance any of them will make it in.

I really like your guidelines. I try to take most of these to heart when it comes to speculation.
I’m excited for vol.2 so I’m just gonna throw out my wishlist for the newcomers:
1. ARMS (I’d prefer Twintelle or Dr. Coyle, but Min Min and Misango would be incredibly fun as well)
2. I’d be pretty psyched with almost any Square character getting in smash. (Geno, Neku, Chrono, Lara, Sora, 2B?, etc.)
3. Same with the big boi shooters (Master Chief, Doom Slayer)
4. Another fighter/shoto (Tekken? MK? I think Sub-Zero could work best with smash’s kid-friendly nature)
5. An indie/smaller game (Shantae, Reimu, etc.)
6. An anime swordie (Ryu Hyabusa, Dante, Travis, 2B again, Lloyd, it doesn’t matter who if they’re fun)

Puts Reimu from Touhou in "Indie/Smaller game". Touhou is huge in Japan with around 20 or more games in her series, founded doujin and a famous doujin convention, Reimu got a new breed of flower named after her, and Touhou was one of the inspirations for Undertale.... Yep. One of the smaller games indeed.

Here’s what 3rd party I wanna see in Smash with the mechanics:
1) Phoenix Wright
Mechanic: his goofy playstyle, similar to his appearance in MVC3, but with less frame data. Tbh, I just wanna see an “Objection!” “Take That!” Final Smash.
2) Any Rhythm Game Rep. (Specifically either Hatsune Miku or Karate Joe)
Mechanic: Timed attacks.
Attacks that are strong or weak depending on a certain rhythm.
3) Reimu
Mechanic: Bullet Hell
Basically a lot of her projectiles would do little damage, but she can release multiple projectiles at will. She can also dodge projectiles much better than other characters.
That’s all I can think of other than the characters mentioned already and Shantae. I like Shantae, but what drags her down is both the indie situation and her costume choices.

I’m not a fan of people just copy-pasting Phoenix Wright’s MVC3 move set. There’d be a change in his move set to fit Smash. Mega Man was in MVC but they did something truer to the games he comes from to fit Smash and pay tribute to the Mega Man series. That said, Wright would be hilarious in Smash as he is in MVC.

I unironically want Steve, Minecraft has been such a big cultural phenomenon for the past 10 years! I'll honestly be happy if we get any Minecraft content. My other biggest wish would be any Hollow Knight content. Those two games are practically my only favorite games that do not have content in Smash already (practically because I also really like Celeste).
Edit: Steve is also a skin in Minecraft Dungeons, and he looks great! He even has an idle pose that could be used already, where he turns his head and looks around.

I don’t understand why would he Steve in the video when he literally made another video focused on him, I just feel like Steve has no character. He’s just your generic sandbox protagonist who is often overlooked due to custom skins and stuff. Where as the rest of roster is full of vibrant and memorable personality, Steve just comes up bland compared to the likes of mario, sonic, banjo ect. He’d be much better as a mii costume.
Brandon Williams Sakurai gave a plant and the Miis their unique style man, Sakurai can definitely work around that for Steve

The lack of Tales Spirits doesn't mean anything when there's no Tales content in the game at all, it's as valid as "they originate from a video game" in terms of evidence with how unspecific it is
Lloyd's costume could return with any Namco character or any JRPG like Terry's pack was centered around fighting game costumes and have been held back for that purpose
Pac-Man's taunt is missing quite a few Namco IP, Dark Souls, Soul Calibur, God Eater, Xenosaga, Digimon, none of them are present either
His VA work could be for anything, people tried to use the same thing as evidence for Shantae and it was for Fortnight not Smash
Even if it's the Anniversary it's also Digimon and God Eater's anniversaries this year and even then any Tales character could be chosen for that or just a Spirit event for several of the protagonist like Trials of Mana got

I actually think Ryu Hayabusa is the most likely out of all characters:
• Sakurai has actually played Ninja Gaiden before (I'm not making that up, he said he bought Ninja Gaiden on the Wii Shop Channel in an interview)
• Ninja Gaiden 3 was a Wii U launch title, and briefly an exclusive before being ported to other consoles
• Nintendo trusts Koei Tecmo enough to let them use their IPs (Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors)
• There are many Tecmo titles on the Nintendo Switch Online NES, including Ninja Gaiden
• There are a lot of Koei Tecmo titles on the Switch
• Many leakers are saying he's likely
• Koei Tecmo has actually helped develop a Nintendo game before, being Fire Emblem: Three Houses
• IAmShifty has even claimed Nintendo personally emailed him to not bring up "Ryu Hayabusa" with "Smash" anymore
• And my most striking evidence, Koei Temco literally helped in making a Smash trailer, being Byleth's
Koei Tecmo's direct involvement with Nintendo is only rivaled by Bandai Namco (who has a character in Smash already). I believe Ryu Hayabusa's inclusion in Smash is a matter of when, not if. But with the amount of attention he's getting from leakers, I'd say him being in Fighter's Pass 2 is a near-guarantee

I don't make a lot of noise for my one "impossible" hopeful but I wonder if for another 3rd party character, Smash could capitalize on the huge Pokemon vs Digimon rivalry from the 90s by including a Digimon character as a representative from that company? Digimon World (PS1) and of course the Tamagochi-like devises came out long before the first anime premiered in Japan. I think that technically means it originated as a "video game series" right? Hey. Maybe you could make a video about unlikely but possible characters that have grey origins as video game franchises? Love your channel!
I like the idea of "unlikely but possible" but I don't think there are that many franchises that could be debated on whether or not they count as video game series as it would be fairly easy to Google what their first release was
But then again this is the Smash community where people still think Persona Q2 and Final Fantasy Theatrythm don't exist so Cloud and Joker have never been on a Nintendo system so maybe a video like that would be nessisary for the Google impared
I know this is incredibly unlikely, but I'd love to see Beat from JSR get in. Other then Crazy Taxi, JSR is probably the most iconic Dreamcast originating game out there. Having a character with a unique movement system (with high forward momentum but slow stopping) would really help to differentiate him from the rest of the roster. They could have an Inkling like mechanic with graffiti, and have different sprays and boosts be the specials. Smash Attacks could be things like a large kick downwards, and grabs could involve grinding people against the skate wheels before throwing or kicking them away. Basic attacks could focus on the skates and dancing. The tricks you do while grinding or jumping could be inspiration for aerials and tilts, and there's a variety of options for taunts, victory animations, and alt costumes.
The combat would represent the game series pretty well, being a hit and run sort of character. You'd be attempting to space, until you see and opportunity and "tag" the opponent. Over time as you "tag" them more and more, you can do more damage and knockback. Your attacks would have a fair amount of start lag but very little end lag, meaning that you have to make the beginning of your attack count (but it's easy to escape when they manage to recover). The main issue would be recovery, seeing as I can't think of anything from the games that would suddenly launch them upwards. One rather silly idea though, would be that you could grind up a rail or wall that generates underneath the character. The grind itself would be short, and you'd be invincible in that time, but the launch off afterwards would leave you exposed if you don't grab the ledge or retaliate. Also, they'd be rather floaty in the air.
Honestly I just think it would be cool to have JSR in Smash. The music, aesthetic, and gameplay is so unique and really stands out in Sega's history. Shibuya Terminal from Jet Set Radio Future is a pretty iconic area, and would make for a great stage. The music selection would be excellent, and it would help to represent the very under-appreciated extreme sport games that ruled consoles in the early to mid 2000's, and still maintains a presence to this day. Also it could coax Sega into making a third entry, which would be a very nice side-effect of a reps inclusion. I know it's a *pipe*-dream, but I still hold a little bit of hope. He sits right next to Doom Slayer, the perfect Mortal Kombat character that I still want included in Smash instead.
JSR has an absolute fantastic soundtrack. I would die to see a remix of Sneakman or Concept Of Love
@@Komodo772 Same. Hideki Naganuma is a very under-appreciated composer in the grand scheme of things, Smash would be a great way to introduce it to more people. It's the same with the new Arms character Min-Min, the Arms OST is super under-appreciated

I like how well you touched on Ryu Hayabusa and Rayman's potential, but when it comes to Third Party characters, I prefer the underdogs that not many look towards like 2B from NieR Automata (I don't care about the criticism or roadblocks, I still want her) and Beat from Jet Set Radio. I like it when some out of left field character that isn't high on everyone's wish list gets in, because it shows that someone out there actually cares about them and wants them in.

I am ecstatic that you dedicated a section to Quote. As both a Cave Story fan and a huge proponent of indie fighters in Smash, Quote has been my top choice since Smash 4. I even put together a big Google Doc for what I think a Quote Challenger Pack would look like last year.
Just like to mention a few things about Square licensing
1. Square doesn’t own Sora, Kingdom Hearts and all non-FF/TWEWY related music/characters is owned entirely 100% by Disney
2. Square is not exactly stingy, it’s just that art/music/designs of all the games are all owned by different people, which means that if not every single one of them agree, a certain aspect of a pack would lack representation. A good example is DQ, it’s very likely that Akira Toriyama was on board, which is why we managed to get 4 Heroes and all those monsters as spirits, while whoever owned the music was likely more hesitant on giving them to Smash

(7:40) I actually like that idea. After you execute an attack, you can press a button that will make the attacks more powerful for like 3 frames or so; best to only use for slow attacks with long active hitboxes. - The issue is the buffer system; so the attack needs ending lag that is as long as the buffer. So if you press duing the ending lag, it will buffer another attack. Otherwise it will make the attack stronger. - Just to make it fair, you should also be able to deal that extra damage to an opponent 3 frames after they are hit too. So you get a 6-frames window to make it stronger. 1/10th of a second accuracy.
My most wanteds aren't happening but I'd have to say out of the more "likely" guest fighters, I hope to see Lloyd Irving and Ryu Hayabusa. Big fan of both series.

Shantae was more of a 3rd party back in the day from a direct "Indie" from what I have seen, Wayforward seemed to become considered indie later on but even then they still feel 3rd party-ish with the work they did on Ducktales Remastered and all

I have a feeling that an ArcSystemWorks character is most likely gonna have a character in Smash thanks to the River City spirits that were added back in January, while most people look towards the Lee twins from Double Dragon as the best candidates I don’t think it’s happening as the series hasn’t been great in recent years which leaves Guilty Gear & BlazBlue and while Sol Badguy has been in the talks I don’t think it’s gonna be him, there’s nothing really unique from Guilty Gear that Sakurai could pull to make Sol unique and fun and it doesn’t help that he’s not as popular as Bridget & Dizzy who seem to top him in official polls made by the company while BlazBlue’s mascot, Ragna, has a lot more to offer with the follow up attacks, his Soul Eater drive which heals him making him a tricky character to fight against since his defense is pathetic making him a lightweight character his drive would turn a battle around to his favor and his Final Smash having a unique victory screen reminiscing BlazBlue with 4 potential themes that’ll play in his Final Smash, Ao Iconoclast, Shinsou, Chronophantasma & True Blue as sort of victory themes like in the home series
Oh forgot to mention this but Ragna would also have the BlazBlue system as well to make him unique which he can activate when fully charged to activate the Azure Grimoire giving him a temporary attack boost but also through command inputs can use Carnage Scissor & Devoured by Darkness
For Sora, I think a cool stage could actually be the keyblade graveyard

I want waluigi still. I genuinely think he can add a lot to the game as a lanky and erratic character who’s known for cheating. And on top of that if waluigi kinda just slotted himself in as a +1 at the end of the dlc it would be PERFECT with his character as cheating his way onto the ballot/ cheating his way into smash

Here me out. I know this is a long shot but ... CONKER THE SQUIRREL!! Conker is my most wanted newcomer by far. Conker’s Bad Fur Day was a super unique game as it didn’t have one particular genre. It was a platformer, first person shooter, racing, horror, etc. And Conker himself is a super unique character. He’s an alcoholic squirrel with tons of personality. Let’s not forget his amazing move set too. From frying pans to baseball bats to even a flamethrower, Conker’s moveset is practically built in. He’d be a super fun character and he can use his “context sensitive” mechanic as his new ability. He’d be an awesome addition to the already massive roster and his reveal would be legendary. Also I feel like very few people would be disappointed in Conker’s addition. Most would be like “Whoa is that Conker?!?!” Yes it is my friends. I pray to god that for some wacky reason Sakurai decided to give him the Banjo and Kazooie treatment and bring him back to where he belongs!! #conkerforsmash

I think her chances are really good and not many people are bringing her up. Sakura Wars is pretty big in Japan, even had it's own cafe. Since the reboot just released it could be a good time for her to join

Frontrunnerss are very hard to nail down especially because over all it seems to be somewhat based on whatever video game is coming out or is being talked about by developers. You know Dante when his gaimes are being re-released or Pokemon because the DLC is coming out a lot of smash speculation tends to run on recency bias. Except when there is little game news then the ground support for a perennial favorite will hijack the discussion.
Edit I just remembered that all the characters are already chosen and being worked on so receny should be more based on when the characters were picked then right now.
My 2 most wanted third parties are Phoenix Wright and Rayman, though I have started to accept that the former isn't as likely due to the competition he faces from Monster Hunter and Dante in particular. Rayman however I'm being surprisingly hopeful in, Ubisoft has 2 mii costumes in now and none of them are from his series. That could also be a bad thing I suppose depending on how you look at it, but I digress. Lloyd and Steve are also 2 characters I'd be interested in. (I really need to get back to playing Symphonia.)
Though I have taken the furthest back seat to character speculation, I still anticipate the next reveal. Curious to see what happens next!

Monster Hunter rep would be interesting if it was a Palico instead of a generic human hunter. They would still easily focus on trapping and tracking in their moveset and act as a sort of mascot for the series already.
For an indie fighter, I'm more keen to place my bet on Orcane from Rivals of Aether. Rivals' popularity speaks to the impact Smash had on gaming, creating a genre of fighting game that few have been able to successfully capitalize on. Rivals is, to date, one of the few platform fighters outside of Smash that maintains popularity and relevance. Most Rivals characters have a unique mechanic that hasn't been seen in Smash, but Orcane is definitely the standout. Effectively placing and utilizing his puddle is important to offense, movement, and even recovery. Using it too much leaves you with no recovery options, but saving it for emergencies or placing it too far from the opponent significantly reduces your reach and damage output.
If you were to ask me my ideal Cave Story stage would be the outer wall. It would be a beautiful thing to see the moon and clouds of the game’s title screen rendered beautifully in Smash.
I feel that Monster Hunter is only shafted cause Rathalos was probably a more recognizable "icon" of that series. Like people in Japan even recognizes the Hunters in MH through the Monster Armor they wear. And how Byleth just sort of takes their style of fighting.
Considering Bandai Namco has said over Twitter if they ever get a second Smash rep it'll be Agumon....that definitely helps his case.

Such a weird choice but thanks to quarantine, I got into Persona 5 (the original one from 2017) thanks to Smash, and now I want Makoto/Queen. I know, how could that work? She’s a spirit already! The series is already represented! But personally, I’d want it because I fell in love with her (I fell in love with pixels basically) from the start.
I’m still holding out hope for Frisk. I think it’s important to note that Undertale hasn’t had a spirit event, while cuphead did soon after the mii fighter released

Kazuma Kiryu ( Yakuza is one of the goofiest series I’ve ever seen and it pretty much the only series sega consistently makes games for now besides Sonic Kiryu would be brawler using various referencing his different styles in smash such as boxing, all round brawler, a slow powerhouse heavy style and his signature legend style while also using his ridiculous finisher like slamming bikes and benches into characters)
Crono ( Chrono Trigger is one of the most prolific and influential rpgs of all time being a passion project between the creators of FF, DQ and DBZ it’s still constantly mentioned as one of the best games on snes and rpg genre to this day)
Leon Kennedy ( Resident Evil is Capcoms biggest media franchises having its own movie franchise (albeit they aren’t good) and is influential to both survival horror and even 3rd person shooter due to the massive shift in direction seen in RE4 one of the most beloved games of all time)
Beat (Imagine a character dance fighting along to some funky beats, would be pretty neat to see)
Sora (Kingdom Hearts was a series I grew up with, and I'm interested in seeing the fire that would start from him being an anime sword fighter except not really since the Keyblade doesn't actually have a sharp edge meaning it's not a sword by definition)
The Dovahkiin (He has plenty of moves to use, and the memes will be growing out Smash Bros' ears)
Ragna the Bloodedge (I really don't like Ragna, but it'd still be neat to see anime fighters, and Blazblue in general, get a rep)
Heavy (Same as the Dovahkiin, the memes write themselves)
Sion Eltnum Atlisia (She could definitely make for an interesting character, with gimmicks based both around an ammo meter an Moon Types, plus it'd be neat to see this little know game get in Smash)
Master Chief (I have never played a Halo game and TF2 is the only shooter I really enjoy, I just want to see a mature character that uses guns as a primary attack (Joker doesn't count since he only has neutral special))

I'm actually stoked that I wasn't the only one who thought a Monster Hunter rep should be included.
I've got a super good feeling about Ryu Hayabusa, he screams unique movement and gameplay AND is arguably the last real icon of that era of Nintendo gaming. Yeah, he's not technically a Nintendo character, but most people see him in the same way they see MegaMan or Simon Belmont, basically a Nintendo character. Would round out that era of gaming really nicely, and Sakurai seems to looooove updating NES/SNES characters to a modern incarnation. Feels too good to not happen at this point.
Hayabusa’s reveal trailer has definitely got to be a recreation of the opening scene from Ninja Gaiden NES.

Springman can mean an upgrade for both spirit and AT. Ribbon an upgrade to Mii costumes, and the rest would just be spirit upgrades. I don't t hink it matters what kind gets upgraded tho, because the "actual" fanrule is "no upgrades at all". If one of those kinds get upgraded for the sole reason of putting a character that will promote some new game or something, then it can happen to any mii, spirit , or assist trophies. My prediction is that the chances for upgrades are for content that was in base game, I do not expect any upgrade whatsoever from miis, spirits, etc, that came out during Pass 1 DLC fighters were releasing… So only base game content.
Great points for Lloyd, I really hope he is the next Namco character to get in. It just makes sense to have the top 3 JRPG franchises from japan in smash, it's been long due…

I feel like for the home stage of Rayman, Band Land would be the most-likely choice! Unique music-themed motif, iconic place and lots of potential with so much different ideas that could be incorporated like the bongo sticks, sliperry bars and wind trumpets!

Also extra fun fact for Level Five Yokai characters...something I remember hearing was that they never want to have a game where Yokai Watch and Pokémon are playable together...idk if it’s still true here but it’s important to remember
My biggest hope for third party characters in Smash is any Sonic character (most notably Tails or Eggman). Other characters I would like to see include Agumon, Jibanyan, Spyro and Steve. Sora would be cool too especially if Disney characters were included as spirits, although I doubt that would happen.
I would like Kat from Gravity Rush. I can see Sakurai implementing her gravity bar so she's not an overpowered air fighter with infinite recovery, but she would still be an aerial oriented fighter. Also, we haven't gotten a true Playstation 1st party character (Persona 1 got released for windows98 and Joker has been featured on 3ds title PQ2).
In any case, my top pick still is any summoner from the mainline SMT series, but I keep my expectations on the low side. However, I haven't lost all hope, maybe Sakurai could pay homage to this franchise with a Jack Frost mii costume or if things go crazy, we end up getting the protagonist from SMT V + a new trailer of the game lol
