YOU ARE AN AMAZING PERSON ,the best tutorial i have ever met , i can learn so easy nd quickly with u , now i am knitting a hate with bobble stitch with some cables in , i haven't finished yet but looks great makes me so happy nd proud that i could have done this . thank u very much for ur help
So many tutorials with cool patterns either go too fast or skip parts that I needed to hear... Your video was so clear and easy to follow. Thank you so much... I can't wait to try this!!
I’m just starting this with my hand spun. I had a stroke a few years ago and using large needles and thicker yarn is definitely the best. Your instructions are wonderful! Thank you!
This looks amazingly easy when done with chunky and stretchy yarn. I'm trying to incorporate this stitch into a shawl using sock yarn and size 5 needles and it is very difficult as the yarn does not stretch as easily. Beautiful stitch if the yarn cooperates!
The Casting On Couch another amazing tutorial and pattern stitch ... one that I'd like to experiment with in the future for a scarf ... thank you again
What a beautiful name "Bronislava, my dads name was Branisalv, Bane for short, (Serbian) . As for this pattern, I like it very much, your tutorial is quite understandable. I love knitting it relaxes me.
I am thankful to you excellent explanation super good video. If possible a little bit light wool which do not disturb our cataracts eyes please also show reverse side means opposite side back side I am looking for both sides same patterns for muffler, shawl if you can please totally excellent good thank you ❤❤
My row increased by 3 stitches on the first knit row. Then 4 stitch increase after the 2nd knit row. On the full knit rows are you suppose to knit together the triple stitchs?
Very good tutorial but why do I get holes before and after each daisy or knit stitch between daisies ? Too thin yarn, needles? Beautiful pattern that I would like to learn but mine looks more like a lace. Please help!
Double knitting, aran and chunky yarns look great in a scarf using this stitch, ie a needle size on the ball band ranging from 4 to 10mm. Be prepared to adjust your stitch count depending on your yarn choice.
Love this! I'm learning how to knit in the round right now, can this stitch work for that? I have a 12mm needle, since its a bit larger than what you used, will that work for this stitch?
Thanks for the clear tutorial. I am just a beginner so I'm afraid my question is rather stupid... I just wonder if the effect of the pattern is much better with chunky yarn rather than the thinner ones? I'm practicing on a thin yarn with 4mm needles, and it just doesn't seem to turn out as well.
I have worked this pattern in finer gauges and still liked the results, especially in 100 per cent wool. This stitch does stand out really well in the chunkier yarns. It's a case of experimenting to find out your preference. Send me a picture to my facebook page and I will take a look if you like? May be the tension is a little loose?
I see why you used chunky yarn. I didn't have any so I tried it in a lighter weight... doesn't show up that well. However, it is certainly good enough for the practice and I may keep it as a scrubby pad for dishes!
What’s important is the result, and you being happy with the look and feel of what you have knitted. Experiment with your knitting style, and loosen the knots if necessary. Beginner knitters as a rule tend to start out knitting tightly, so being aware of that and loosening the knots may produce a great result. Using over sized needles, can also produce a completely different look to this stitch. So it is really worth experimenting to see what you can come up with.
Thank you so much! I have just gotten my yarn and needles for this pattern and cant wait to try it out! Love your tutorials! I'm new to knitting and your videos are the best out of all youtube!
I would like to access the written instructions but when I click on the link to the website the photo there just sends me back to the youtube video. How can I get written instructions?
@@TheCastingOnCouch Hi, can I ask why sometimes in my 2nd lines I always left with 2 loops? when its should end with Knit. even though i went back, it still not correct :(
ANGELINA It is so easy to make a mistake when learning a new stitch pattern. I would print off the free instructions and mark off each row. Take your time. It sounds like the rows are not being staggered correctly. Free knitting instructions: thecastingoncouch.com/assets/flat-knot-scarf.pdf
What weight of yarn would you recommend for that stitch? My mom is trying to knit this in a 6 (I don't knit so I'm not sure what that means) but she doesn't know if it will work. Any tips for her? She's making gifts and really wants them to come out nicely! Thanks for this video!!
A temporary glitch I'm afraid. If you check out my back up web site theknittingcollection.com you should be able to use that whilst I sort out my web forwarding issues. Sorry about that.

Note that the plus one is added to the TOTAL of the multiple that you decide on. This is common knitting terminology. Firstly work out what multiple of 4 stitches you want, for eg this could be 4 or even 44, then add the plus 1. The multiple of 4 refers to the number of stitches needed for the pattern to repeat itself successfully. Often in knitting patterns additional stitches are added on top of the finished multiple of the repeat pattern to make the fabric look balanced or to allow for a border.
Hello there ! Congratulations for this wonderful tutorial, I found it very easy to understand! I have a question, do you think this stitch would be strong enough to do a whole tote bag? Thanks again for the tutorial :D
It is a nice firm fabric that would make a great looking bag. You may have to create a fabric lining for a tote bag though, other wise I could see it losing it's shape over time. I think it is worth experimenting with this idea though. Let me know how it pans out for you if you make one.
The Casting On Couch Thank you for the quick reply and for your advice. I will let you know how did it go but I think I will have to get a thicker yarn than the one I have at the moment. :D :D :D
I see that this was done several years ago but I'd love the written instructions and the link doesn't work. Is it possible to still get the written instructions? I love how clearly you've done your video. The close up work is perfect! :)
this is wonderful! How many stitches would you recommend to cast on if I wanted to make a blanket? Im hoping for 5x4 (50mm needles and super chunky wool)?
Every time I lose 10 stitches on the next row. I think you should start with the beginning without the pattern and double up on counting each row as you go. Too long on the easy and the worst for a beginner is losing the big pattern repeat.
as for us beginners... this video is way tooooooo fast. I could not even follow. although the vocal instruction is clear. you should consider the visual instructions so that its easy to follow by slow knitters.

I loved this video. I thought you did a wonderful job and the pacing was just right. You have a very soothing voice to knit to!

Your tutorials are the best. Everything well explained with tons of patience. Thank you so much. 💯💞👌

Very nice and good job
If I was wish to knit it wider, how many stitches should I cast?
Love this! I'm learning how to knit in the round right now, can this stitch work for that? I have a 12mm needle, since its a bit larger than what you used, will that work for this stitch?
So we cast stitches in multiples of 4 + 1, right?
nice stitch pattern i,ll try it as a cardigan thank you
A cardigan will look fab in this stitch. Good luck!
thank you
+naila chamas How did your cardigan look with the star/flat stitch. I am planning to do a baby cardigan with this stitch.
A very chic stitch...one must concentrate for this stitch... no watching TV.

So beautiful design
gorgeous....can this be knitted on the round too...THanks! lovely, very beautiful stitch
Yes, this stitch can be adapted to work in the round.
Yay....I will check this out and TRY IT...thank you, thank you!!!
I am love this work
Is it possible to knit this stitch so the diagonal lines run the other way?
Thank you so much - really helpful tutorial.
Question: Is it better with looser knots? ive seen a few people mention that loose knots are important for the pattern
What’s important is the result, and you being happy with the look and feel of what you have knitted. Experiment with your knitting style, and loosen the knots if necessary. I'm confused about how to make something wider. In knitting, the term multiples of 4 stitches plus one mean what exactly? Five? Why not just say five?
Note that the plus one is added to the TOTAL of the multiple that you decide on. This is common knitting terminology. Firstly work out what multiple of 4 stitches you want, for eg this could be 4 or even 44, then add the plus 1. love this stitch
Spoken instructions really clear but I work a lot on visual and the needles disappeared out of the screen so often I gave up :(
