You forgot the most important thing. The basic is a lot lighter than the premium. I have both basic and premium in black. The first one I bought was premium and they were way too heavy on my feet so then I bought the basic. I prefer the basic because they are lighter. The most important thing to me was that they are waterproof. That’s why I bought them in the first place.

You didn't factor in weather. The basics are better suited for warmer environments. If you live in a place like Los Angeles, Southern California, Miami, Hawaii or in an area that's usually warm, sunny or humid, the basic is much lighter. The premium is too insulated and is too padded and would look and feel excessive or out of place. The basic gives you the aesthetic without the bulkiness and cold-lined insulation, especially if you're mainly wearing these around town for style purposes. And in spring, summer or when it's above 60 degrees your feet will appreciate it.

I think the basic is more casual. You would look more proper if you were trying to wear them as casual dress. The premiums are nice too but look a little bit harder which is cool too.

I going to drop some real knowledge, when Timberlands got popular in the late 80s early 90's no body really was buying the premiums the majority of people had the steel toe basics, and not the basics in this thumbnail, they didn't have a leather collar on the upper, it was an all nubuck upper! 6" & 8" they came in wheat and black leather, mfrs be lying talking about they didn't wear basics lmmfao the original basics basics are the 💩 and they didn't have the soft hollow rubber that they have today, they really could take a beating and you can see people wearing in early to mid 90's music videos, the premium were out but didn't really serious getting popular until about 1994 and Know for sure because I was buying them, Timberlands Competition back then was Gucci boots, Nike ACG, Geogio Brutini boots, Gortex, Columbia boot, Wolverine, HH Brown, LL Bean, Karl and Kani, and Lugz was just coming out or dubut.

People are gonna think I’m crazy but the Basic Timberland last way longer and doesn’t crease while the Premium creases like crazy. This is coming from someone that currently owns both and have owned both pairs numerous times. The Premium color also fades bad with time while the Basic doesn’t.

I absolutely hate the white stitching on the premiums but I like the two tone sole of the premiums. You mentioned the white stitching as a great quality, but in my opinion it makes the shoe look really cheap to me…kinda how the sole on the basics leaves something to be desired & maybe looks cheap. Thankfully the only premiums that come with the white stitching is these wheat (or butter) ones in this video. I love the stitching on the basics. It looks way better in my opinion. It’s a much cleaner look to me.

The premium came out in the mid 70s. Kid in my middle school come in one day with a pair and it was a must have situation. Yes some kids were still wearing bell bottoms and cheezy nylon shirts but some of us had moved on and started what you now see as the street look even today. Polo , timberland. Adidas....they called it preppy at the time but really wasn't. Anyway I knew with one look that the timberland premium workboot was a classic and I wasn't wrong. Almost 50 years later.

Pro is excellent for safety uses.
So they cut back on some aesthetic features.
However i have been EXTREMELY happy with my 2 pro boots
      Both around 130$
They have been built to last years!
Composite toe is lighter than steel toe; but still satisfies the safety requirement.
      Very warm for those cold nights;
      And slip resistant.
The pros are a very good choice for everyday work settings.
I wouldnt recommend for anything day to day activities as they are indeed heavy. 3ish pounds each boot.
I have yet to be dissapointed in the timberland pro series.

This is the most superficial review I have watched in a while. It's 90% focused on the color of the boot, which somehow isn't the only priority when buying a winter boot.

Both of these, like Dr. Martens, are disposable fashion shoes. You are not going to resole them, or keep them for more than a few years. You like the way they look, you wear them out, then you throw them away. Nobody buys these as work boots. They are not safety shoes.

the premiums are too ornate for a casual dress-style workboot.

Timbs basic are €120 and premiums are €220 over here. That's a 100 euro difference. I can't imagine the basics are $165, since in the USA everything is cheaper then in the Netherlands

I'm in the Netherlands too. I bought size 45.5, I thought I was supposed to go a size or half up. I'm in the process of returning it, what size do you recommend I get? I'm size 45
