No. Alcohol is an astringent and it might/will make your skin dry or harder thus pricking will be painful. Wash your finger with warm water and soap. Or rub it against your thumb ( assuming you have washed your hand before) or any other finger. The colder the finger the more you would feel the needle.
Yeah, here in Mexico they sold me "One Touch" "Ultra Soft" lancets and I need the "One Touch" delica lances. Who knew? I only found knew after I had gotten home 2.5 hours away from the store.

They told me at Walgreens the onetouch Delica plus contained everything i need to get started. Now im thinking i need to buy some kind of test strips

You can reuse the glucose meter and the meter remote. But you shouldn’t reuse needles and test strips. Reusing needles can cause infections
