What also helps for the pain or anxiety sensation anyone might experience when putting that needle into your skin: take a good, controlled breath in, and then, as you exhale firm and controlled, push in the needle in the same, controlled manner. If you want (and have the breath ;) ), continue exhaling while slowly and continuously pushing down the plunger to insert the insulin.

a billionaire You need to inject that air into the bottle in order to be able to withdraw the medicine from the bottle. If not it would be in a vacuum from you removing the medicine and would make it harder to withdraw from the bottle.
