I decided to buy one of these as a table lighter. We're smokers, with lots of lighters around, and I just got tired of the cheap, throwaway butanes. Back when BIC first came out, they were good, lasted the 1,000 lights claimed, and used ALL the butane before dying. Now, they're crap -- childproofing, cheaper, and only use half the fuel then die. Having learned a boatload from this channel, in particular about changing out the batting, I did that on my ancient 1987 Zippo, and loved the result. I went back to Zippo. Then I saw this Zorro discussion (the earlier video). So I went through the aggravation of Ali Express, and bought one. I also bought a trench-type lighter on Amazon, like a tube lighter, and when it arrived, it turned out to also be a Zorro (pretty cool, but hard to light). I bought the bigger Zorro with the heavier hinge -- 2 piece on the lid, 3 on the base. This lighter is heavy! In the above review, I don't think we really grasp just how heavy. Various people have said they use it as a table lighter, which is why I bought one. It's for the table! Way too heavy for carrying. But with the gasket, and a table lighter sitting for longer times, that's fine. I used the system to replace the batting. The new Zorro has less original batting than a new Zippo, but it took as much replacement as a Zippo insert. The inserts are the same size, and are interchangeable, apparently. I put in about 1-1/2 sticks of Cotton Bacon cotton, and filled it up. The Zippo (batting changed), filled up weighs 2 oz, or 57 grams. The Zorro, filled up, with changed batting, weighs 7-3/8 oz, and 210 grams! Woah! So almost 4 times heavier. BUT!....it's built like a tank! I grew up in the 50s-60s, and everyone had big table lighters on the coffee table. You can still find them, with a heavy, crystal-type base, and a lever-action insert. This Zorro reminds me of those, only a lot easier to pick up and light a cigarette. I like it! As above: For everyday carry, Zippo has the weight just right. The Zippo may have it's evaporation issues, but for carrying outside in the car, I'll maybe use a butane insert. At home, I don't mind refilling, and now, with the Cotton Bacon, it lasts around 8 days (Raleigh, NC, USA with 90+ temps this past week). The Zorro is rugged as can be (Carson doesn't make lighters anymore), and has that terrific machine feel and look of precision. I paid around $32 USD in May, 2021. I think there were some taxes and fees, buying direct from China, but that's still cheaper than an air-tight US-made all-weather Exotac lighter for around $50 USD. I did see one Carson War Armor going for $115. So yeah, Zorro is a great price! The Zorro lights easily, and really is just like a Zippo, only heavier. Thanks for turning me on to the company, as I likely never would have heard of them.
UPDATE - Dec 7, 2021: I bought the heavy (1/2-pound) Zorro specifically as a table lighter. It sits on the coffee table as an option for when my Zippo runs out of fuel at an inopportune moment. I filled it near the start of July (2021), and would be amazed if I've lit the flame more than 10 times in 4+ months! It still fired up!! So the little gasket on the Zorro demonstrates that fuel loss is VERY minimal. It isn't "forever," so preppers can't just fill it and hope to have it work a year later. But as a "just sit there for awhile" lighter, this is pretty impressive! Finally had to fill it today (12/7)
I've been looking to get a classy lighter for casual use. I live in China so my options are $16 Zorro's or $50 Zippo's and I'm kind of leaning towards a Zorro. Thanks for the review!
I just bought a zorro lighter today,i think its actually better than a zippo tbh and zorro makes a lot of cool looking vintage replica lighters thats just as good quality as geniune vintage lighters imo,so zorro defnitly has more collectable options if you are a lighter collector like myself
Got a zorro single butane insert yesterday, the chimney is chrome but the other part is gold dust. It does have a Window to monitor the butane level. Much better than the dual torch version
I think one of the reasons Zippo doesn't use a machined hinge is because it would change the classic ping noise it makes. But that's just my hypothesis
Been using a Zorro for a couple of years, the weight of the lid destroys the cam on the insert, which makes the lid loose. Lucky it's cheap to replace, but Zippo inserts don't fit well. How was was the titanium one?
Do you think that Zippo will ever address the issues with the evaporation? After all it has been a very long time. They may have an attitude of "Don't mess with success", meaning they have no intention of changing it. Even if the changes would address some pretty bad flaws and would make a much better lighter.
I really want one. I bought my brass Armour thinking it would be a little heavier and thicker than it is. So I'd love to try one of the Zorros. That titanium one looks great. Someday I might try get one of those too. 😎👍 I'm disabled so money is limited. 🙄
zorro better than zippo in; 1. the wheel much softer and easier to click, 2. the whole pieces build very tight, 3. cheaper, but zippo have better sound.
Nice Channel I appreciate all your job here. I just started my Zippo collection and also started to be using for my cigarettes . Two questions haha.. Where can I buy the zorro productos ? Another question is,, is safe to burn my cigarettes with the normal gas ? thank you

I'm getting the titanium one in a week. Only thing I'm sad about is that there is no version without a flat top. But its still cool to have and do tricks with.

@@ZippoFanatic77 yeah I've seen that video and the plan from the beginning was to get that. They look really nice and still have that nice click sound. I also realized it's just as tall as a regular zippo. That was one thing that turned me off a bit. The 1935 Zippo is a bit hard to trick with cuz it's shorter then a normal Zippo and doesn't land quite right in the hand. But seeing as this titanium is longer than the 35 it shouldn't be a problem.
Dang, received my 912 with extra inserts, they don't fit! The metal sealed bottom ones with the cog wheel. My white gas works great as a cheap alternative btw.
The inserts do fit btw, they are a tad loose, the hinge was so stiff it was causing the insert to jump a tad bit up and it was blocking the lid from closing. Overall I am very happy with them.
I buy lighters for a bugout bag, because they run on white gas. I bought a Zippo, not kniwing Zorro exists. I think i'll be buying a Zorro, especially since Zippo offers not sealed cases. The only sealed cases for Zippo inserts, are aftermarket plastic cases, which aren't very good.
I just ordered a couple of zorro 912 models on aliexpress. WIll zippo butane torch and soft flame inserts fit well in the 912 and 902? im asking because I just got a couple of new zippo armors and the lid will not fully close on either of them with a zippo torch insert, but lid closes perfect with the factory zippo lighter fluid insert. I think the zippo torch insert is slightly taller than the lighter fluid insert.
