    Lol, I remember the first ride on a stand up (1996 on a Kawasaki 550, I got it on some trade work in college), and me and a buddy took it to the lake and rolled it to the beach section with a dolly i made....we had no idea what we were doing (I surfed and snowboarded, I can do this right??)....so I laid on it belly down and idled past the swim bouys then full throttle (to get my knee and body up because of the instability you mentioned) and the jet blew my trunks down to my ankles! My buddy laughing: "Bro the whole beach saw your ass and pointed" 🤣 un-erasable memory

      @grd1184 they're still alive! The SXR & Superjet are the only models from big manufacturers. Lots of aftermarket hull manufacturers making crazy freestyle and racing skis though.

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @aaleeksii heck yeah, boy, that's a blast from the past! If you have water nearby, stand ups are so much more fun once you figure them out. You don't have to worry about other drivers and crashing as much as on a bike, and you can push way harder. The learning curve does suck though.
      Maintenance is pretty easy whether you get a 4 stroke or 2 stroke that hasn't been abused. With two strokes keep up with plugs. Both you'll drain the hull/blow the engine exhaust out after you ride, and they'll take care of you for a while. Oil change intervals on 4 strokes are pretty long, only done it once so far on the Superjet.

    Great video! Turning like that, almost hiting yourself on water but not falling, is dammm freaking cool!! I’ve been always trying this trick. I have a SXI 750. 95, and I try to turn sliding like that, I completely fail on doing so.. I fall all the time! By watching you, I guess I just need some more throtle when sliding? So the ski gets more stabilization and then I can touch my butt on water lol .. see what I mean? Haha
    As u can see on my profile pic here, is me trying to do that.. kinda made it a lil bit 😅

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @louizmumic3287 if you are intentionally trying to slide, you might check out my older doing 180s video. It is all about unsettling the hull just enough in that case to lose traction and powerslide. If you are looking for a hard traction turn, sometimes you just have to be lower and more forward with your body weight and more on the throttle feeding the pump. A shorter pole helps you get your lower body naturally lower so you can bend your knees more and still control/weight the ski, aggressive intake grate, sponsons, and longer ride plate help traction. Some skis just can't carve well as well as others, though.

      @@ChixLife Hey, thanks for the reply! What I wanna perform is a hard traction turn as you said. And yeah, I believe my ski specs don't really match with the specs you mentioned. The funny thing is, I've seen some videos on YT people performing a hard traction turn on a SXI just like mine. Anyway, I will still figure my ski hehe.

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@louizmumic3287gotcha! Get that body weight lower and more aggressive/forward. Also helps to have a reference point in the water to help you mentally get into the turn. Kinda hard to describe, but the visual queue of a buoy or heck, even a plant or something floating, helps you set up a corner instead of just water to reference.

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @btravassos1226 having the right ski with enough power and rotation, then throwing your body weight back, looking back helps, and flip through. I never made it all the way around, but I was on an underpowered and heavy ski going over ski boat wake in cold December water. Once you get the muscle memory, flips are pretty easy compared to a lot of skills with the right ski.

    A couple of questions, I'm 56 and thinking of learning to ride a stand up. Q1, Am I being silly to start at this age? Q2 which would be easier to ride, TR1 Superjet or SXR1500? thanks to anyone who can help.

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At 36, I've had 3 knee surgeries, 1 back surgery, and two hip surgeries... so if you have the will and the able body, get after it 🤘
      The ski choice depends on your goals. If you want to go fast in straight lines, the 1500 is a superior engine. But I personally can't stand the SXR1500 hull for carving corners. If just cruising around the lake, it does do better in chop, but goes through fuel very fast.
      The 4 stroke Superjet is a really fun ski for a four stroke platform. More stable than the older 2 stroke skis, yet is still relatively flickable and can hop wakes and have fun. Since it is smaller and lighter than the SXR, lake chop throws it around more. The TR1 has great gas milage, kinda to be expected since it isn't nearly as powerful as the 1500. I love my Superjet, but the intake and pump traction is a bummer, though I'm trying to wring out 100% of the ski on the buoy course.
      Both setups will need intake grate, ride plate, and bars at minimum to get the real fun out of them, and highly recommend faster steering, tray mat kit, and tray kicker.
      Took me a good 6 months to get in shape to ride well, but it is a fun journey!!

    I saw a lawnmower engine attached to a bike seat that would push you on roller blades or skis and since then I've wondered why "stand ups" don't at least have a loop to grip with your thighs even if you're technically not sitting on it

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @danlowe water undulating with race or lake chop would rip apart your thighs with a pole or tiny seat there haha. Water is not smooth like concrete. Some turns can pull 3 Gs, we get those legs shape 😁

    • @danlowe
      @danlowe 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChixLife I get what you're saying. I'm talking about a foam wrapped loop that could slip in and out between your knees and dangle freely, swinging on a pendulum, similar to a rope handle you'd hold with your hands. Don't need to wear it like a harness, just sling the tip of your knee. Maybe one on each side.
      I'm thinking about the pendulum candle holders from 100+ years ago. Now people use them to carry a drink without spilling it as a novelty. Seems like maintaining your center of mass would be more important than firm footing.

      @danlowe 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChixLife You can have the last word (I'll stop trying) but I'm in no way describing a seat. It's the principle of a "tuned mass dampener." No idea how to implement it but seems like a constant struggle to ride these and I don't see the point of that

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @danlowe it's not about having the last word, it is about the point of it all. What you're suggesting is akin to saying snowboards need to have two boards... making them like snow skis. Something that already exists in a better form than strapping on two snowboards.
      It's not that us stand up riders want seats, or anything to help us stand. Standing and feeling the movement of the machine is the point! Riding over the water at 70mph, or doing backflips doesn't need some strange sitting/support apparatus to make it... really weird haha. Difficulty does not mean bad.

      @WhiteoutSnowy highly depends. The 2 stroke 08+ is still one of my favorite skis, but slow. The 4 stroke is nice to cruise on the lake, still playful, and race in it's own class. Easier in chop, and faster. The pump traction issue really sucks though. I don't go jump surf or want to do old school tricks so the 4s works fine.

      @wesleychan1069 oh yes, the 4S Superjet has pump intake and traction issues. Intake grate and ride plate definitely help. Keep in mind though, I am more used to GP skis that are basically open race skis with all of the goodies. Coming from a 550, you will likely love the 4S SJs traction and handling 👍

    I have the new Superjet and a question please. I just rode it for the first time ever. Mine seemed to have a bit of "play or slop" in the nozzle. It really doesn't go straight. Seemed to wander left or right and I had to counter steer regularly. Is this normal?

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @peaceprayer595 it depends on what your body is doing in the tray, your speed, etc. If you are transferring your wight side to side without paying attention, then yes, you will be chasing the steering. Balance plays a big role. Also if you are not used to water motorsports, the steering is more of a guess than precise since you are directing the flow of water for propulsion.
      Is the nozzle centered in the rear when the bars are straight? It is a simple cable, so "slop" shouldn't be an issue, but check your cable attachments at the nozzle and the handle pole.
