      Thank you for sharing your enjoyment Jessamine - the magical atmosphere of January, I think, is partially to do with the garden seeming to share its secrets, such as artistically trained rose stems unveiled by fallen leaves. Were there particular highlights of your winter visit?

    It would be nice to have all that hardscaping and not worry about fencing for deer and rabbits. Hardscaping is expensive and really adds a lot.

      In terms of hardscaping, Sissinghurst is hard to beat! New materials are very expensive - we were fortunate to use bricks salvaged from a builder’s spoil heap in our own garden to help cut costs.
