You two always have very practical ideas. Yes, packing cubes are great, especially if travelling from place to place. Socks and undies in one, tops in another, pants in another, etc. Take a squishable laundry bag for dirty clothes. I agree, prior research is essential. Thx for sharing.

Excellent tips. I'm a long time traveler. One of the best pieces of gear I have found is an inflatable (Therm a Rest) butt pad. I use it on flights over 2 hours. It makes a 9 hour or longer flight bearable. Weighs nothing, folds down small, self inflates.

Sometimes handheld GPS is good to have. Yep, I know there are GPS apps on phones, but if the power is running low it's often easier to just swap out some AA batteries in a handheld GPS than find a phone charging power source. It literally saved my life in the Gobi Desert once when the driver got us lost in the mountains at night with a snowstorm coming. I was able to get us back on the right track because I'd been tracking our path and managed to locate the turnoff we'd missed in the dark.
Also, sunscreen can be hard to find in some countries (e.g. India) so I always carry some.

As a suggestion, use a check list of things you intend to bring along on your trip. I travel to China quite a bit and once I leave the States, if I’ve forgotten something, I’m sunk. To avoid forgetting to pack something I prepare a fairly extensive packing list that includes virtually everything I intend to take along. Another benefit of such a list is it makes packing quicker and easier because once an item is packed, you check it off and don’t have to worry about it anymore. What’s more, with a packing list, you don’t need to think endlessly, time and time again - did I pack everything? Did I forget anything? You two are fantastic and I truly enjoy your informative videos! Thank you!

    • @MikeWMiami
      @MikeWMiami 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Jen Mar, my wife forgets things also and I am trying to get her to use a list. On a trip to China with our 5 year old son, she forgot her wallet with all her credit cards and money! Luckily didn’t forget her passport and she was meeting me there in Beijing so it wasn’t too bad for her. A packing list can save you!

Another advantage of packing cubes, is once you get to your accomodation, you can just take the stuff out and then your bag is free to use for other things and it's easy to put your clothes back in without packing the bag completely again. Particularly if you are doing minimalist travel or say extended weekend travel when you use your bag (backpack) for EDC as well.

Love your videos guys! So Informative! How is Tah able to travel to so many destinations like the US and South America without Visa on arrival capability? From my research, I've read that it is very hard for unmarried, single Thai to travel to the US for vacation as they believe you will stay and not leave. Also, can you tell me what backpack you use to carry you electronic equipment?

Thank you for sharing the knowledge and experience.
I hope you'll close the South American series in Ushuaia. I would love to see it, but any city will do the justice.
Stay safe Jim & Tah, and you two not in Kansas anymore 😄

Once again, great basic information to share based on your vast travel experience. Thanks once again. Just curious but do you recommend translation apps for any counties in particular or can you usually manage with your native language? BTW, you two make a great beautiful couple 😉😉😁😁

Hi, love the video... it’s interesting to see what has changed since we did our two years traveling Asia in 1999... before internet took off... and a lot of places didn’t even have electricity!
In The Netherlands budget airlines only allow one piece of hand luggage. I noticed you also carry a rucksack with camera equipment and tripod. Have you ever had problems with taking two pieces onboard? ✈️😎

Wow, these were all great tips! Do you or anyone know a similar product to Ceptics I can find in Spain? I tried Amazon but they only have US to Japan or UK to Hong Kong ones. Many thanks in advance 🙏🙏

It’s the Yellow Fever certificate you need but only for Brazil, I went to Iquitos Peru and a great city to go if you wanna explore parts of the Amazon, Iam sure you can go there from Chile.

You obviously need to get some updated advice about going to Iquitos, I went solo so didn’t have any problems, but some travel companies might be more cautious

And here we were thinking it would be about a luggage, suitcase, camera accessory... and we were totally wrong... and came out more informed than ever before! Great tip on the probiotics! As a medical provider, I can certainly tell you that as a traveler, probiotics should be used first-line before you even THINK about taking an antibiotic!

  • @sizzlemann

You mentioned a waterproof cover for a person, but you also need a waterproof cover for your backpack as well. If you carry expensive gear, the last thing you want is to get it wet.

Other option is waterproof bags inside your bag.

I decided to leave the prescription at home. Too many people would need an explanation that I decided to not try. Did all the precautionary preliminaries too. Pain killers after surgery included codin ... Cute little dogs love to dig out the stuff....I'm pleased to have it sitting in the USA rather than with me in Asia
