DUDE LET ME START BY SAYING THANK YOU! so sick of clickbait bullcrap youtubers do all the time. posting "How ANYONE Can Get 50% Off Hotels" and actually delivering it 👏👏👏
I’ve used this exact method, traveling for over 2 years non stop. This might have worked in her single use, but for example when I used this is vegas I ended up with a lower class hotel each and every time unfortunately and it wasn’t worth the price.
Take a screenshot of the example photo of the room, then crop it so there’s no text, then use image search and bam you found the hotel with less research. You can double check the ratings to be certain. I’ve done this a few times and works like a charm! Hope this helps.
The ratings don't absolutely match anymore, but you can still narrow it down if it shows "Your Hot Rate hotel is guaranteed to be 1 of these 3" and keep refreshing your browser to see which one shows up consistently. I just booked the Ritz-Carlton for almost half the price! Thank you so much for this!!
same! did this back in october and got the best hotel i’ve ever had for like $100 a night for a two bedroom with 3 beds. normal price? $900 a night. planning to stay here again. base price $200 this time on hotwire during july/august season
FRIENDLY TIP It usually shows you one photo of the room you’re about to book so instead of matching the ratings, I just look at photos and see if the carpets in the photos match to the one it gives me!
This still works! Was skeptical because it took so long to find (on cellphone) you can even go to filter and select the hotel star rating and review rating to narrow it down. Also under filters you can select the area, some of the review items aren’t as easy to spot as in the video, but once you find one that’s super close just look at the original price on the hot deals to compare and see if it matches then the mile distance.
This definitely works. I've done this a few times because I'm never going to pay full price. Most rates are inflated for hotels and you can usually get great deals like this or by finding last minute deals. Thanks for sharing!
I just did what this video described and saved over $1530 on my reservation at the Waldorf in Maui!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for the tip it was awesome and I’ll do it all the time now. You can actually fine tune it for where you wanna stay. For me it wasn’t a random place I was able to filter it to basically the property I wanted!!!!!! Sick!
EXTRA TIP: Before even reviewing the ratings, if you compare the star level on the Hot deal and the hotels you narrowed down, that knocks a few more off the list you have to check ratings on. This works for Priceline too! Done this for years and never book hotels any other way.
And an even quicker way to identify the hotel (without all that customer feedback analysis comparison) is to refresh your browser after you've clicked on deal of the day and select the box that states the hotel is one of two (or three) hotels. Keep refreshing your browser and looking at the hotels, one of which remains and the other one (or two) changes, so the hotel you are being offered is the hotel that's always in the selection of two. Ray and Sue's Travel Channel.
Hello What's the meaning of "by select the box that states the hotel is one of two"? Also what do you mean by "the hotel that's always in the selection of two"?
@@LilBogota Hi Legend. It looks like they have changed their website now so it makes it impossible to find out what hotel they are actually trying to sell you. When this video came out and when i posted the comment 5 months ago, you used to get a window open which gave a selection of two or three hotels, one of which was the hotel in question. You could then rotate through the hotels by refreshing your browser and using a process of elimination, you could work out which hotel it was because it would always be in the list. It seems they have removed that function. They have even removed the address and now you cant even do address comparisons. There are the customer feedback guest ratings at the bottom of the page still. This may still work if you are prepared to review all the hotels in the geographic area they refer to. So my additional hack doesn't work and you are forced to seek out ratings comparisons like the original poster of the video. Hope this helps. Ray and Sue's Travel Channel.
This is too amazing. I have looked at all the hotels for a week and refuse to pay these prices. Sure enough, I recognize 1/2 the rooms I am looking at and the price is at least $50.00 less. I haven't searched that much yet. Thank you so much. You are a smart cookie.
Paused this video halfway through and just booked all my hotels for Iceland (that I've totally been procrastinating booking for weeks because of the prices). You saved me over $600 AND I got the fun surprise of hotels I wouldn't have chosen by myself. Thank you so much Monica!!!
Hi Monica, thank you for the advice. I'm a single dad of two HS seniors both graduating this June. They have both applied to the US Air Force Academy. If they get in they'll be leaving for basic training in June and for the most part, I won't see them much for the next 8- years between their school and active duty. We are traveling March 20 returning March 26 during their HS Spring Break. What makes this trip so special is my entire family is traveling to Washington D.C. to support my sister who is competing in a national competition in the federal circuit court for law school. My dad is getting old and my time with my sons it's running out. I want to make as many 3-generation memories as possible. My grandparents took my sister and me on a cross country trip when I was 13 where DC was one of the highlights of the trip. With the boys potentially going to the Air Force Academy I thought what a great experience for them to see DC and get a deeper sense of who we are as a country. This trip is going to be a family vacation we all will remember for a lifetime. I'm booking 3 rooms for 6-days so any help I can get to save money will be so greatly appreciated. Thank you! Going on a trip with my family soon. Using this hack, I was able to get two rooms for what we were going to pay for one! My teenage daughters thank you for getting them their own hotel room!
Paused your video 3 minutes in and immediately booked a hotel for a Duluth, Minnesota (1 hour away from me, went to college there and it's on gorgeous Lake Superior). We had to cancel our big summer trip because of covid, so we're just taking the kids up North for a little getaway. This completely works. we're getting a great waterfront Hotel for $60 bucks per night... thank you! And thank you for teaching this GenXer some new tricks!
Yeah, this is a GAME CHANGER. I studied with a marketing group and we had just about EVERY travel hack down but this one. Great video and THANK YOU for saving us thousands of dollars in lodging expenses!
October 2022 - The ratings don't match anymore or are close but not match exactly. But you can take a look at the 3 options in "Your Hot Rate hotel is guaranteed to be 1 of these 3". Then you refresh the page multiple times, the hotel option that stays the same is the "actual" hotel you will get in that deal. The other two options will change to a different hotel each time you refresh.
I just want to let you know that you're a bad bish! I booked a 5 star hotel in Punta Cana for $179 a night. The stay is about $484 a night without this trick. Keep doing what you're doing. I can send receipts if views do not believe.

I thought this was going to be another video telling us about the same "hacks" getting thrown around but this was surprisingly refreshing. I'll definitely be using this.
hacks that make you jump through hoops to save $30 and potentially get your flights bumped - subsequently missing your next flight at your stopover - still need insurance. to cover fck-ups like that
My goal for hotel, airline, and rental car hacks was to get the employee rate. That's always under $100 per night. I'm still working that angle. I always thought the Hotwire Deals were time sensitive. Meaning the deal will expire from your screen in 3 mins. It seems it would take some time to check on the ratings of all of those properties if it's a major city like San Francisco or Miami. The giveaway at the end of the video was really cool! It's always nice to give back!!
I used a similar strategy on Priceline after the housing crisis. 4 and 5 star hotels could be accessed, dirt cheap. After prices rebounded, I stopped trying. You posted this two years ago but I live in California where housing, gas, hotels...everything is sky high. I checked out Hotwire and sure enough, your logic is still accurate. Thanks Travel Girl!
Doing so much research trying to plan a trip for me and my boyfriend, and I’m so happy I found this video! We are trying to book a trip to Mexico for our five year anniversary. His family is from Mexico and he’s never been, so it’s super meaningful since it will be his first time there. We’re also college students trying to ball on a budget so winning this would be a dream come true!
Thank you for the great tip! Me and my husband just moved to the states and are spending so much time and money settling down, paying for lawyers and our visas. And we LOOVE to travel. But unfortunately for now it doesn't seem possible to do it any time soon. Our dream is to visit Bali. And I would love to make a surprise for him and present a trip on our first wedding anniversary :)
This is actually real! I just went on hotwire and looked up 5 star in Paris, inspected the photo and searched it on google. And the hotel room on booking.com for €1211 for 3 nights was just €634. Thanks so much
WOW, that second hotel with the in unit washing machine looks amazing! This is so so cool, thank you for sharing - about to go try it out. It's unfortunate that I need a specific hotel for an upcoming event because I doubt this will work, but for other things it could be great. Hoping it's still valid in 2022!
I actually tried the method and yes it does save you money ( booking through them ) but they don’t add the resort fee at the end along with the total cost of your trip. So you get hit with another 100$ or more 🤥🙃 so basically you’ll be paying the minimum with them more at the hotel
Great information!! I am about to take my first trip on a plane to Orlando, Florida for a Christian revival definitely need reasonably priced hotel rooms since we are staying for a week.
Dang surprised you weren't doing this before. I've been doing this for years lol. Using Hotwire and matching the review ratings. I think the first one I figured this out with was back in 2011 when I booked a Hilton on the beach in Florida for $100 per night 😂
I have an even better tip, screenshot the image of the hotel then go into google photo and search with the lens photo search it will match the exact place with the Google browser
Yup. No need to even screenshot, just save the image url and paste it in to image search. It's WAAAAYYY faster than this. Hopefully they don't fix this, been doing it for ages .🤣
I’m crying of happiness rn thank you so so soooo much ❤️ I wanted to go to my country Honduras for a while now and visit my family now I will hopefully.
Aloha from Hawaii. Thanks Monica. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Maui. Thanks for the great tip-very clever. I just subscribed to your youtube channel. I'm going to check out your other videos.
@@TheZeroLatitud I did it last night but I did my own hack and it was easier. His method doesn’t line up correctly. But my version is to open up the same search you did in another tab/window and another different browser… Where it shows you the 3 possible hotels, there you’ll see the commonality ant that is likely the hotel choice. Hope that helps
@@jcecce nope but found another and I think easier way. I used the same search criteria on 3 different browsers. Looked at the photos and the repleted photo that shows up is the property that you’re likely to get. Hope that helps
I would love to go to Whistler, Canada with my dad. My dad is the type of person who always puts others before himself. He has always wanted to go to Whistler because he loves the outdoors but never found the time since he has 2 jobs that keep him very busy. He has never even seen mountains before so I would love to treat him to an awesome trip full of mountains and exploring. I love you Monica and how you always give back. ❤️ Great tips!
I used that hack last year. I have not mentioned it to anyone because history has shown when a business is exposed on TH-cam they will make a correction on their site. Thank you
This is not what it looks like. Hot wire adds taxes at the end of the deal and taxes are pretty hefty and final price goes up than what it gives you initially. But all being said you can hit a blinder if you are lucky. Worth giving it a shot.
I watch so many videos on TH-cam, this is by far the best one I’ve seen on this subject! Thanks for not being clickbait!!!! I am now subscribed to your channel. I know you posted this a while ago, but I’m hoping you have more amazing content like this 💗

The downside to these videos is that the companies are watching so they definitely changed that. So....now we cant see the metrics the same anymore. Therefore making it impossible to do this now. :(
I'd heard of this before but didn't understand how it worked. Thanks so much for the breakdown! I'm already booked for my trip next month and didn't do too bad considering I didn't know this hack, but I will 100% be using this in future!!!

Thank you so much Monica. I have just used your trick and booked a hotel room in half price in Chicago.
I appreciate you girly! I’m actually going on a solo trip to Hawaii as well! I’m soooo ready now. Tytytyty 💖
This hack really helped me plan a trip. Thank u
SO glad this wasn’t clickbait, definitely trying this for my next trip
@@adntigger71015 Cool thanks
With the mystery deal, there is no image of the hotel
@@Jaeboss depends these days, not sure if they're phasing it out entirely or not, but I can see the photo about 85% of the time still.
Seriously insane hack! Way to go Monica! I can’t wait to try this out.
I’m crying of happiness rn thank you so so soooo much ❤️ I wanted to go to my country Honduras for a while now and visit my family now I will hopefully.
is this still a thing in the 2022 summer? Or did hotwire do something to not make this work
Thx so much. I was looking for luxury hotels to stay in for my birthday coming soon and I'm so excited to use this hack. Thank you 💗 😊
Ah, Monica with long curled hair, we need more of that!
You can also find out by matching the number of reviews the hotel has. That's how I do it.
Aloha from Hawaii. Thanks Monica. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Maui. Thanks for the great tip-very clever. I just subscribed to your youtube channel. I'm going to check out your other videos.
They got smart about this...they no longer tell you the names of the hotels under the deal of the day
I guess they figured it out
Its July 2021... the ratings summary titles don't lineup as you suggested. even with expedia
Damn, I was about to try this out
@@TheZeroLatitud I did it last night but I did my own hack and it was easier. His method doesn’t line up correctly. But my version is to open up the same search you did in another tab/window and another different browser… Where it shows you the 3 possible hotels, there you’ll see the commonality ant that is likely the hotel choice. Hope that helps
@@kupua I assume you did what I saw: you searched in the new tab by total number of reviews (can use Control F). Did it actually work for you?
IG: @bronwyn_bates
man, you and your sister are so cute, this is actually really smart also, i'll never use it because I'm broke still...
This no longer works. They use a different rating system now which changes to 10 points from the 5 point hot rate system. Bastards.
I used that hack last year. I have not mentioned it to anyone because history has shown when a business is exposed on TH-cam they will make a correction on their site. Thank you
Thank you for this awesome hack! I didn't need to use it for my trip coming soon but I will definitely utilize this for my future trips.
My fiancé and I would love a trip to Budapest for our honeymoon! That would be lush! 🤩
I was just there a couple of days ago! 😅
Wow! This is actually very useful information. I tested getting a room in Denver and this actually works. Thank you!
Does this still work?! I couldn’t get it to work yesterday. None of the ratings were matching
Yea same here. Mystery hotel shows rating for room comfort meanwhile all other hotels replace this with amenities rating.. so I can't match them 😕
This is not what it looks like.
I know you posted this a while ago, but I’m hoping you have more amazing content like this 💗
Instagram: abigailanthis Where: Hawaii Why: it’s always been my family’s dream to go to Hawaii, and this year marked the ten year anniversary of my dad living past what the doctors told him (he had open heart surgery, and they told him his recovery did not have good odds). We really want to celebrate and be together in our dream vacay!!
I think they may have caught on 😭 the ratings aren’t showing up the same anymore
I just posted the same comment! I’m not seeing the ratings to compare! Did you figure out how to find the ratings?
Booking a room for Friday doing this excited
Super informative video Monica. Thankyou for sharing. Going to try it out right now. Safe travels, stay healthy and take care. Ray and Sue's Travel Channel.
@jerredrogero - Reykjavík, because my brother and I haven’t been able to hang out very much since I moved across the country, but a band we both like announced a 3-day set in Iceland and it would be so sick if we could actually do it 😫🙏🙂

Why: my wife for some reason has this idea that she would hate NYC because she doesn't love travel to big cities. I'm dying to take her there and prove her wrong. I want to show her all the food and culture and fun. I think free stay would definitely get her on board!
Tried this and it worked!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! SAVE ME LOTS!
Ahh looks like they figured out this hack and stopped it
Damnn any other hacks? 🥺
Yelp! I just found this video today. No luck. No more mystery deals. 😢

I'm ngl if you're new to coding this is a great idea for a first real project.
1. fully public API
2. Linear search at worst so it doesn't matter what your Big O is.
3. Helpful to other people
