Great review Nick. I installed an HS2000 last winter myself and also used the acoustic ducting on the output side. I installed the furnace itself in a wooden enclosure which really keeps the db's down. Great product.
Hey bud, Looking for a heater for my camper, still torn between gas and diesel! I heard you say you had a diesel before and this is better...are you still of that opinion a few months on? Also read that installing the propex in a ‘sound proof box helps’ but guessing the main amount of noise comes out the air pipe? Hence the acoustic tubing... Do you have any vids before and after to compare? I could cope with a bit of noise to keep warm, mainly what’s important to me is 1.efficiency (fuel used and 12v bat drain) I didn’t realise diesel heaters drew 9A firing up! Over a 24hr period that could amount to a fair bit! How much does this draw per Hr? Cheers Ant
Ant Hart , the Propex is a fantastic bit of kit, simply set to temp you want and leave it. It comes on and turns off automatically and maintains a good steady temp. With the acoustic ducting you can hardly tell if it is on or off sometimes, when the bed is down I have to look for the light to see if it is on or off. Spec says it draws 1.4 a but I’m reading 1.3 and with the thermostat control it only runs about 50% of time. A 3.9 kg propane should last you about 27 hours continuous run time. I’m getting between 4-5 days use out of one in winter and that’s at £14 per 3.9 kg bottle. Which is costing about the same as the other heater was in diesel . Not had a single glitch, would fully recommend from my experience of both... get the acoustic ducting though .👍
Me finding one for a 100 pound all kit except acoustic ducting was a no brainer not to use buy. Haven't installed it yet. Much bettet on power consumption. An actual automatic temperature control not like diesel heater. Pretty much no maintenance. Somewhat the same maybe fuel consumption?.. the only thing thay worries me is how hot is it running and a refillable gas stations not being as easily available as diesel. Plus obviously gas install system itself. But hob and hot water would be on gas too so kinda it is what is. But choice i would say.
