  • Winter camping is here!! Are you ready? I sure am. I recently visited my friend at TinyRig Co and installed the Dickinson Propane Fire Place on my Toyota Tacoma Alucab Canopy camper. This fire place keeps the camper nice and cozy on the cold nights. Enjoy!

    Great video. I have considered the other alternatives: diesel heater, buddy heater, propex heater. They all have drawbacks. The diesel and propex heaters are a bit to 'gadgety', in that they have thermostats, fans, igniters, and in the case of diesel, a fuel pump. All things that can get tempermental and fail. The Dickinson is simple. I like that you light it yourself. That is just what I wanted to know.

    I was up at Monache meadows during the last storm that rolled through and it got down to 9 degrees. I showed up to my camp spot and it was snowing sideways. Woke up in the morning and the view was amazing!

    I have a RTT and a buddy heater. Will now look into a zero degree sleeping bag. Thanks for your epic content. George!

      I would definitely look into a diesel heater they are about 130$ on Amazon and you can get some A/C ducting from Home Depot to make the hose thing longer definitely a lot safer than the Mr buddy

    Great suggestions and overall video, thx! One thing I'd be curious about is if the Dickinson allows for a thermostat. I'd imagine it would get nice and toasty in no time. 🔥👍😁

    That heater looks sick! Pity I will have to sell a body part here in South Africa to get one.... A -10C sleeping bag and a DC electric blanket keeps me warm in the winter. I will be looking to import a diesel heater before winter sets in.

    Hi, love your setup but I have to ask. Does this small of a heater provide enough heat to the upper tent area or would you recommend some addionional heat up top in tent as well as running the heater. Or would the P 1200 model be a better choice?

  • @josephoutdoors
    @josephoutdoors ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did even think propane was an option to heat a truck camper. I’ve seen the diesel heaters and electric heaters. Would leave to see you do a comparison between electric and propane.

    Great video. How much gas does it use? How many days can you get out of the canister? Thanks!

    Curious what the burn rate would be in an alu cab. Not the greatest for insulation. Running a 5lb tank or 10lb??
    Im considering the switch from overland trailer to the camper. Currently have the explorer and generic rtt on my Gladiator and this heater would be on top of my list

    Did you change your truck canopy again? It’s hard to keep track. I saw your 1st Alu-Cab canopy, then your 2nd canopy with the windows... now this canopy camper. Did you sell your previously canopies privately each time when making the change or does Alu-Cab accept trade-ins?

    i have had my P9000 in my RV for about 5 years now. i like it but after 4 years, it will not stay lit when the button is released. i did some research and found that the thermocouple needs cleaning. any idea on how to do that?

    So once you’re “upstairs” for the night. Do you leave it run all night during really cold nights? Does the heat make its way into the actual tent with the floor panels down and you up there?

    • @bustabeatgeorge
      @bustabeatgeorge  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I’ve ran it for 15 hours straight with no issues. Heat rises so yes it keeps the whole canopy camper cozy.

    • @davidbuie3316

      The Dickinson P9000 propane heater is 3200 BTUs on low, 4500 BTUs on high. So a 5 lb bottle should last about 33 hours of burn time on low, about 23 hours of burn time on high. The heater is designed so that the combustion gases are vented outside through the chimney.

    Does everyone that have a Dickinson have those lighters? Literally just watched 3 completely different TH-camrs and every one has those lighters

    • @bustabeatgeorge
      @bustabeatgeorge  ปีที่แล้ว

      Negative, the lighter is not included. MK Lighters makes this lighter, they are well known in the outdoor / camping space. Check them out

    Further you paid alu cab their ridiculous price. A distributor in Denver advertises alu cab canopy camper for $9500. However, a conversation with them resulted in a price of near $14000. And for an empty unit with no upgrades. False advertising is an advertising an under statement!

  • @anthonysears871
    @anthonysears871 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You actually paid goose gear their ridiculous price for their interior "cabinets" that are simply a frame with a face plate😂.lol! I built a far better set for under $400.
