Chief, you really know what you are doing and talking about. I am in the medical field and getting the information from such an articulate and very knowledgeable narrator like you, I felt like a maritime student. My gosh, I learned a lot from you. Soon you might decide to retire from seafaring jobs, please don’t put your knowledge to waste. Multitudes of future sea voyagers will certainly benefit from your expertise by personally imparting the important information to them, as a professor. Thanks for everything. Ay ay Sir. Something I learned from my brother, who also was a graduate in the Academy but in Baguio...
Interesting your pronunciation of forecastle. In the Navy, it is pronounced fo'c's'le, which is more like it was pronounced back in the days of sail. On my first cruise I was assigned to 1st Division. We had the responsibility of maintaining the fo'c's'le as well as the ship's Quarterdeck. This was a matter of great pride that these spaces were always kept spotless.
I’ll would give up all the products on that shipping things on it just to give another job on the land jejaje and saves all that gas for your self cleaned air sky and the world 🌎 lol 07 joe

Thanks for the tour. There is quite a difference between Civilian and Military (Ex USN enlisted here) Ships. Until your vids, I had not realized how much freedom/duties my rating had. Top of the mast to the engine room (steam plant) bilges. Please keep them coming.
Thank you very much chief for this tour, your english is very clear i did understand all what you was talking about Greetings a lot of from Venezuela ETO Ivan Martinez
I love each and every Vlog you have produced, you truly are the Master of everything Shipping and then some, thank you for all you do, Mac in Houston TX
Hello Chief, landlubber here! Your YT channel is really informative, thank you so much. I am fascinated by all engineering, so the engine room and all the other systems you have to look after are very interesting, though my discipline is electronics. I'm now seriously thinking about booking a passenger voyage on a cargo ship soon! Hopefully I'll find a Chief that is as engaging as you are. Subscribed!
Thanks so much chief I enjoy all your videos , they really help me get through my boring days. please keep up the good work, you Sir are a very smart man.
Love your videos, Spend a few years at sea as deck hand 1980s now and ships are bigger but live the same at sea, are you at sea and have you been to Belfast, great port and lovely people..... If in Belfast would be happy to show you the city centre.... TONY
Very good informative video of the parts of the accommodation and deck boat ... remembering my life aboard the merchant ships and oil tankers for many years🚢👍
D deck is the PARTY deck !! solarium and covered area for grills, tables and dinner party !! Chief Makoi has telepatic power... when he was showing the front part of the ship ( im a city boy not at all a sea man, please forgive my lack of nautical names) i was thinking..." with a lady he could shot a romantic clip" and BOOM at 10.15 he say "here were u should shoot a titanic clip" !!!! And at the end Chief got a buddy to show it... well he wasnt nice as Di Caprio but damn... he got it. Wish u safe travel and calm sea ! (so u can travel safe and also make more of those AMAZING video) !!
Wow what a life, it's not for everyone obviously but at least your family can watch your vlogs and see what goes on in your day to day life. Awesome vid
Please dont stop blogging chief makoi!!😀you are my inspiration.. Marami akong nalalaman sa bawat videos mo at nagsisilbi itong lesson sa akin bilang maritime student
a very impressive vlog... a very well filmed, edited and narrated with excellent choice of background music.. a very relaxing and entertaining video... 👍😎👍
Very interesting again! One question about the mess rooms. Are the officers and crew strictly seperated at dining or is there any kind of social component between officers and crew during free time e.g. dining together? I'm asking because in my company (land based, not on a ship) the managers and the employees dining together in the same canteen. Partly sharing a table and talking together. I don't know how it is handled on civil freight ships. I'm interested to read your comments.
I am a 3/O on ro-ro fleet ship. Yes, officers are seperated from ratings in the mess, so uslly we have 2 messes. In my case, that has always been the case. Personally, I almost always eat with ratings, as I don’t feel any different being an officer👍🏻
Sir New Subscriber po D/C Very informative Vlog Good for Familiarisation sir Especially sa mga aspiring seaferers Cadet sir na tulad ko Godbless you sir ingat Palagi Sna gumawa pa kayu ng Vlog.ingat sir
Greetings from Minnesota, USA. I appreciate your videos. You have a very interesting career. I watched your PMMA videos, if you are a graduate of that, I commend you. Semper Fidelis.
Hello Chief, where i could find synchronous motor with permanent magnets (220v, 60hz, 3HP) used on a cargo ship?? (in what kind of installation?) I look for such documentation and i can not find it! I need ( ex. ship's documentation and the electrical installation to which the engine belongs!) for a project. Can you tell me a few sites where I could find it!??
Love these videos. I work in Brain Surgery, but somewhere in my heart; I’m also working on a cargo ship. I’m obsessed with them. You are so lucky to have all this. What’s the music at the start? Stay safe out there.
Great video Chief Makoi. It amazes me that there is only one person on the bridge whilst it is sailing mid Ocean. Is this because the ship is on auto-pilot.Love your videos. Thank you.
Iba talaga kapag pinoy ang crew ng barko... sobrang linis... sa ibang lahi sus ginuo balahura lalo na kapag chekwa nakupo.... saludo ako sa pinoy sea farers... mabuhay po kayo. Namimis ko ung dati long trabaho bilang cargo surveyor....
Very interesting video, thanks for posting! 3:42 Does it mean you have to go outside on those stairs to go from the bridge to the lower decks of the ship? 8:44 What does it mean, "DANGER ENTERING SNAP BACK HAZARD" painted on the deck?
No. There are stairs inside. Snap back zones are for the ropes when ship is in port. If the water makes sudden big movements while the ship is tied up, the ropes could snap and hit you if you are within that area.
THANK YOU!!! As a high school teacher in Tampa Florida, I use your videos alot to show my students what life on board is really like. Thank you!

I actually do part time as a training instructor during vacation. I was also a professor for 2 years at PMMA.
Awesome. The guy standing at the front like in Titanic was a great touch.
'tis freaking hillarious.
He is a crosshair. It helps Captain to aim ship propperly.
Another fine video Chief ! Thanks for the tour. It was very interesting. Happy Shipping !!! 👍 ✌️ 🇺🇸

Titanic scene. You are too funny. If I had my choice I would be on the upper deck. Nothing like being a part of making those engines sing

I can just imagine.

What’s the music at the start?
Stay safe out there.
IF I was working on a ship such as yours, it would be very easy to find me during my off hours ... at the bow ( _spectacular_ view).
In stormy weather also?
Well done!
'D' deck. U say nothing there, but it looked like a great hangout. Open sea in every direction. I can smell the sea air.
