Greetings from Poland. Ive watched almost all of your videos. There are not many youtube channels that show full scope of the reality. Improving your homestead/farm/house is not a sprint. Its more like a marathon and its full of digressions. It requires huge amount of optimism to go and improve everything bit by bit and not to give up. I like your DIY attitude, and that you are showing ups and downs. Wish you and your family all the best Erik! Waiting for your next material. Your channel is very inspiring to me.

Eric, finally it starts to pay out, it seems! Your channel seems to grow exponentially despite it still in the four digit subscriber numbers. Have I told you, that I began to play your videos as a nice wallpaper in a loop? It gives me nice vibes of country live and it maybe a support of your time. Oh, and nobody should worry about the environment, for the background wallpaper viewing, I use a decommissions cell phone.🙃☀️

The oil bath air filter was definitely worth replacing, with the conditions the tractor works in its not worth taking the risk of not having it doing it's job properly. It could be saving you the engine for sure.👍

Can't wait to see that barn getting built and used again. And i'm sure the sheep will love to have a nice place to stay warm for the winter.
The "cellar" under the barn looks like a liquid manure pit. And the walled off "room" in front of the barn looks like it was used for the solid manure and straw pile. Sometimes they are actually connected so the run off water from the solid manure pile would flow into the liquid manure tank too, but i can't tell if the liquid tank is actually deeper below the other area for the solid manure.

Don't feel sorry for buying that tractor filter. It was cheaper than a new engine or an engine rebuild! That is a good tractor and it will help you a lot on your work, especialy because it is 4x4. What you should aquire for the tractor is a good dump trailer. And if you have the posibility, a mini excavator. Both of them will help you and your back a lot and could also bing some money too... Good luck with your projects!

If you can get yourself some rear dual wheels (or failing that, old cage wheels) for your tractor, it will really help you with traction when conditions on your land get wet. It might even help you to use that excellent backhoe. I've been through a lot of what you're experiencing, with successes and bitter failures. There's always a way forward, but sometimes you might have to change direction to find it. Very best of luck with your project: I wish I could come and help.

It took me on and off, six days to finish this video! Worth it though. Wise choice with getting a new air filter but do a bit more research on what oils go in which casing. Hydraulic oil has very little/no lubricant protection so it would not be good in the gearbox at all. Of any machines that I’ve worked on that have a shared oil reservoir, the oil supplier told us to use a diesel engine oil as it would be the cheapest, best option. All the best!

    Hi, great video 😊.
Normally, to start old tractors like yours a bit easier, set the hand accelerator midway while starting. When the engine has started, you can reduce the accelerator. The engine sounds like you start it without accelerating, but maybe I'm wrong 😉 it should be written in the manual how to start it properly.

as an italian, nice to see a fiat from time to time, man, whoever ran the farm didn't like to take too much care of his place
eitherways, for the oil, on all older tractors that i have, the gearbox oil is used as hydraulic oil, so it's both. there might be a separate pump for hydraulic, but i doubt it, it's a little 3 cylinder, i don't think it would have been worth an external pump
also, always change all the filters when you get a tractor, you never know when was the last time they were changed. better to change one more than to trash a good motors, thoese engines are quite old at this point

I am guessing that you are referring to the oil in the digger attachment and you are correct. 👍I did change the oil in an earlier video and half the tank was filed with water. I don’t know if there are a leaks somewhere or if it is just condense. 🤔

    • @ProtonOne11
      @ProtonOne11 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@NorwegianfarmlifeDefinately good that you changed the oil, it looked like a milkshake came out when you fixed the hose, hydraulic oil should be pretty clear with a yellow tint. If there was really a lot of water in there, it can't just be condensation. You might have to work the digger a bit and replace the oil pretty soon again, as you might still have a lot of water in the oil that is in the cylinder and hoses. This water will wear and destroy the pump faster, if you don't get most of it out of there.
Maybe the water gets in the tank from the fill plug when it rains or snow melts on the machine. The caps are not air tight, they need to allow the tank to breathe a little. Placing a bucket or plastic bag over the cap when you don't use the machine might help to keep water away from the oil.

you really need to fix the air intake on the tractor, the upper filament can be washed with gas, and the lower part with the leak could be soldered closed and a ring put on. It seems not very smart to burn a barn just to keep kids out, don't you supervise the little devils? you seem to take the most difficult path and not use what you have {the tractor} just my opinion

I bought a new one later in the video.😊 Maby, you did not see all of it? Many have commented that I should use some of my heavier equipment on the barn but it is not possible to drive any of it in to the barn without taking down a large piece of the stone wall. I don’t thing that would be any less work. 🤠👍

I have noticed you are putting colour on rusty tractor. This is not good. First clean all the rust down, next primer colour should be put and then permanent colour.
Like you have done it will pell down in 1/2 year.
