It costs a little more to have a pre-spooled line, but when you're in the middle of a trimming job th-cam.com/users/postUgkx429xwEjNPnwzQohFrURRyKF51YfOD_Du , it is so nice to just pop out the old one and pop in a new one. Love Black & Decker tools. Especially the 20-volt battery operated ones. And, as usual, it came on time. Thanks Amazon!

Thanks for the video. I recently purchased this Chainsaw and discovered the fuel line was rotted. I followed your video step by step and got the job done. A few adjustments to the carb and it runs well. Thanks again!

Note on getting the thick tube into the gas tank.
    Tools:
    Razor or utility knife
    Needle nose pliers
Make about a 3/4 inch diagonal cut in the end of the tube.
Insert the cut end down the top of the tank hole.
That should leave enough tube to grab the sliced end through the gas tank opening with the needle nose.
Pull enough out. Square the cut end. Put on the filter. Pull it back into the tank.

Very good video and very helpful. I had trouble feeding the fuel lines in and brought a long needle nose player that helped grab the line in the tank and pull it through. Your video was very good quality and well done. Thank you

This was PERFECT to get mine fixed! My only three moments of "What the" Was with the carburetor being in so long the seal was sticking it. Just nudged it with a screwdriver and off it went. The second was trying to thread the hose through, That was tough, (good call with the 2 cycle oil) and then I had a pair of curved needle nose pliers. Lastly, the smaller hose had a small Inside Diameter making it hard to put on the fuel filer and back onto the carburetor, I just grabbed a lighter to warm the end of the hose up a bit and that did the trick. Excellent video!

I can't believe I got it running again! Thanks for the video. My carburetor is a little different and has both fuel lines on the right side. The top was the fuel inlet (from the filter) for anyone who has the same one. I'll admit though getting those new fuel lines into the tank was a pain!

Thanks a ton. Doing some after-storm cleanup and of course that's when my fuel line comes apart. This got me up and running again. Excellent, clear instructions and diagrams.
Something I did that helped with feeding the line was to sacrifice the last inch or so of the tube and trim the wall thinner with an X-acto knife. Feeding it from the outside of the tank this gave me just enough so that I could grab it from inside the tank with a set of extra long needlenose. Once pulled through I cut off the trimmed end before fitting the fuel filter. Anyway, thanks again.

Good video. Have the 16" and the big question was where does the mystery fitting go. My fuel lines were rotted and disconnected, parts laying in the tank. Seen diagrams showing the pressure fitting actually goes into the housing (wrong). Your video nailed it, goes on the end of the exit fuel line to act like a stop. The rest of the video for tips on threading the fuel lines.

My Craftsman 18" 42 cc chainsaw is identical to the chainsaw in this video. It has a ZAMA C1Q W9A carburetor instead of your Walbro WT391 carburetor. Except for the brand, both carburetors are identical.
I do not know if the ZAMA carburetor is a replacement or was original equipment. I benefited from your instructional videos. The ZAMA carburetor and chainsaw work perfectly now.
Thank you for posting this video.

Thanks, glad I saw this before tearing into it. My problem is that when it uses the gas the tank isn't venting and gets a vacuum going. You can hear it suck air in when you take out the cap. Was there anything in there that you saw that could be blocking the tank vent, or where is it? The saw is a couple of years old but has very little run time. Everything looks fine, the hoses appear to be in great shap, but I'm afraid some varnish has formed inside and blacked the vent. Thanks if you see this, muchly appreciated.

Great video, my issue is the carb that is on there sombody took a screwdriver to it and it junk. I bought this at a garage sale for 5.00 so my question is that i have looked on ebay and elsewhere for a replacement carb can't seem to locate one. The carb thats on there is a Walbro WT391 i see a bunch of them but the choke linkage looks different. Have they discontinued that carb? if so whats the replacement?

Repaired a similar model 18" Craftsman chainsaw, though I believe it was a model 1-2 years older than the one in this video. It sat for probably 15 years without being touched, so the fuel lines had disintegrated and the fuel had gummed up the carb fairly well.
I drilled that small hole (for the fuel intake) slightly larger so that the fuel tube would slide right through it, then used a small amount of silicone to seal things back up. Made the fuel line replacement much easier. I ended up replacing the carb...new one was less than $20 and I figured most the small parts, check valves, and diaphragms were gummed up due to the saw being in storage for so long (with gas left in the tank).

Sounds like it is overheating, causing the piston to expand in the bore. Check that there is no sawdust in the flywheel and cylinder cooling fins. Richening the high speed jet a little will also make it run cooler.

    • @gp1200x
      @gp1200x 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@hightidegoldendoodles4359 It is your coil / plug wire assembly..known problem...replace it and it will run good. When the coil heats up it can do this....happens on a lot of craftsman equipment using this same magneto coil assembly.
