I am clearly NOT a vlogger so I apologise in advance for the shaky and blurry footage at times!😂 I hope you enjoy this glimpse into our journey of immigration from South Africa to the UK! 💖

My wife and I moved over 3 years ago.watching this video brings back so many memories. We went through such similar experiences and is nice as it validates how we felt in those stressful moments. All the best in the UK

Such a courageous decision to make and step to take, to let go of everything familiar to you, and to part with so many things from your very first home where you two have lived for 4 and a half years. The saddest and probably most difficult thing I have had to do was say goodbye to you guys. Thank you for allowing us to be part of the process by helping you clean your house, do gardening, deliver donated or claimed items, pack stuff, weigh cases, store stuff, buy stuff, transfer stuff, prepare spreadsheets, hug you, cook for you, wait in banks with you, be with you regardless of the task at hand, be your taxi driver or lend you a car and the list goes on. As a parent I can say one always wants what's best for your children and we support your decision even though it felt like our hearts were ripped apart on the night that you told us (3 August 2021). With the passing of time and being part of the process was helpful in our grieving process. This was the first of many good byes at an airport. Can't wait to see you and visit as often as we can. Wishing you much joy and happiness in your new endeavours in your new home town. Love you lots.

That decision fatigue is so real. I experienced the same thing when I relocated to the UAE from SA last year. It was hectic because we were relocating while planning our wedding simultaneously. Still recovering from that to be honest. Thank you for sharing your story ❤ All the best!

Hi Mel may I ask if you used a relocation company to move your cats to the UK? I am planning on moving in September and would love some advice ❤

  • @Pixie-ix1so

Hi. Which moving company did you use. Was the house sale completed while you were still in SA or did the registration (transfer of ownership) only take place once you had arrived in the UK.It will really help me if could reply. I am planning to leave in July. Thank you so much. I hope that you guys are really happy 😊

I would not have chosen the UK, civil unrest is on the cards for UK plus Europe, I personally know of people from there either busy leaving or have left, and believe it or not some have come back to South Africa. Also very surprising Americans have made their way over here siting better way of life financially.

As someone who ended up in the uk unwillingly. I hope you're still happy here in this moldy, wet, grey country, where you cant even afford to keep your home warm and have to wipe down condensation daily from your home built in the 1600s. In my opinion SA is a better country overall with lifestyle and all. Britain is a shithole literally! My wife is a Gem though so i suffer through this ass of a place daily just to see her smile!❤

Do not use Biddulphs!! We gad so much stolen & the packing was also horrific - so much was broken because of poor negligence. Think crystal glasses piled together in one sheet of paper & thrown in a box with heavy marble chopping boards on top of them 🤯 we not no apology & no attempts by Biddulph to make it right. & of course insurance covers as little as possible - what we got back in insurance was exactly what we had originally paid in insurance.

ex jappie living in sydney,. . we left SA in 1986 ( rubicon speech). my entire family has access to british nationality. decided "born in southern hemisphere - stay in southern hemisphere" and moved to aus. just back from UK after a 3 week stay. my sympathies are with you - was shocked at the state of the UK - esp after the demise of liz truss. i'd forgotten that come mid september on goes central heating - BUT a lot of people can't afford it. then illegal migrants. needless to say in aus we have neither.

You're making me so miserable. My only child emigrated to the UK with his family in 2022 and I'm in my 70s in SA and totally alone. UK won't allow me to join them even if I'm dying and they can afford to support me. I can't understand how millions of students and whole Muslim families get in but not one lonely decent old lady of English heritage. And don't tell me its because of the NH as I could afford to pay for myself.
