The explanations in your videos are 10/10 and I really appreciate you reviewing these, some of these influencers are giving me trust issues but I know you always give a full picture!
As a mature woman, I did have trouble with patchiness and the Maybeline powder settled into my wrinkles. HOWEVER, I'm going to break it back out again and try it with a foundation brush, spend a little more time blending, using a hydrating mist and see how it goes. I think I'm just lazy when applying foundation and that's why I get disappointed. I need to put a little more effort in blending it and moisturizing. Thank you for all your great tips, Robert. Edit: nope, it still didn't work for me. It didn't settle into the wrinkles as much after hydrating but was still enough to not look great. The patchiness was still there after much blending, unfortunately. I'm 54. 2nd edit: So, I followed all the suggestions Robert had, but incorporated a tinted balm (L'Oreal Age Define balm) under the powder and it seemed to help. However, I did the same process with my MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus and it looks really good. So even though I still don't get great results with the Super Stay and won't be using it, these steps improved the look of my MAC powder foundation. I only do all that if I want to really look decent. If I'm doing grocery shopping, it's moisturize and slap a little powder on as fast as humanly possible and go out the door. Lol
I'm 47. The powder foundations do not work on me. In a comment, I said I looked coffin ready. I tried them in every possible way( tools, wet vs, dry)..I can't get them to not look, well, not awful.if anyone can come up with a way to make them work - please lmk. 💜
Turning off the light waa MUCH appreciated. Ive seen videos of ppl showing their complexion in a ring light compared to normal lighting and its truly night and day. We cannot possibly get a feel for what a product looks like/can do when its under beauty lights. Love you Robert💜🖤💜

I have the maybelline powder foundation. I don’t use the sponge it comes with, rather I use a dense foundation brush like you do. I have to say I love the idea of powder foundation but it usually looks cakey & makes my mature skin look more mature. But this one looks so beautiful! I feel like it’s a game changer for me. I’m glad you like it too!
My skin is the same, I had pretty much given up but I struggle with foundation longevity and my skin is less dry than it used to be (I have psoriasis but it's much more under control) so I have been tempted to dip my toe into powder. I love hearing about other people's reactions, thank you for sharing 🤩
@@GG-kk9dr the most important thing with powder foundation is HOW you apply it and how good your skin has been prepped beforehan and the method in which you apply it. Less is more. Use a buffing brush and blend good. Don't keep adding more powder to the same spot. Make sure your skin is nice and hydrated with a good moisturizer and make sure you rub it in good. Let your skin soak in the moisturizer for at least 5 minutes before you apply the powder. I don't use primers when I use powder foundation because the buffing brush is just going to pick it up and move it around since it just sits on top of the skin. Try using a setting spray when you're done. Hopefully that might help you some. ♥ Also... don't try to pack on powder to get full coverage like the influencers do online. Even though it might look pretty online...i guarantee it looks like a cakey mess in person. Less is best with powders or any kind.

It might sound weird, but I "set" my makeup over a steaming pot of water before I go out the door. Only for about 8 seconds. I think it sets my makeup, especially any powder I've used. It gives a really nice finish. Cheers! Luv your videos.

I guess I'm kinda glad that tiktok is finally recognizing powders? I'm deathly afraid that someone out in the real world will notice when I'm wearing foundation, so I only use the smoothest, most skin-like products. For my combo skin that doesn't like to play nice with much of anything, I've found that very finely milled loose powder foundations fit the bill and are pretty hard to screw up. They look so good in person, I always wondered why tiktok influencers (especially the 'no makeup' makeup influencers) never talked about them. I guess slathering your face in liquid foundation was more lucrative at the time? But I don't know how to feel now that they've caught on and are making these wild-ass claims. Loose powders are a great foundation to try if you can't get liquids to look right or if you want something more natural wearing, but they won't give you fillers, rhinoplasties or laser skin resurfacing lol

Maybelline has in the past had really good powder foundations. One of my favorites has been their loose mineral powder foundation. i have only been able to find it at Walmart the last 4-5 years. But it is my ride or die foundation because I can sweat my butt off in the Florida humidity or be pouring sweat down my face while visiting my mom in the Nevada sun and it doesn’t budge. As soon as I cool down and the sweat dries my makeup looks pretty much the same as when I put it on. I haven’t used liquid foundation in over 10 years because of it. 😂 I also have extremely dry skin and it looks fabulous and doesn’t dry me out as long as I am hydrated and don’t have visible dry patches on my skin.

It got really bad reviews, and in the pinned comment Robert ended up hating it. I'd skip it, reviews everywhere are bad. I just found Chantecaille Futuristic, it's a cream, and it's the best foundation ever. That's way more worth trying. Hope I saved you before it's too late!

I really like the Laura Gellar too! Lately, I’ve been laying color cream products first, and putting the foundation on top. At 58, I thought it would make texture more visible, but the opposite is the case.
I always come here to see what Robert has to say about products I see rave reviews on because I can not afford to waste my money. Robert always gives an honest review and I feel so much more informed when I go to buy a product.
I haven’t tried this specific powder puff but I have tried the ones from Trigwell Cosmetics and I love I love them. Zoe is so honest about the product saying exactly the same as you it’s a tool to help with application and not a miracle solution to remove pores etc. Loved this video thanks Robert for always being so informative 🖤💜

I love your commitment to battling misinformation online. Lies or misleading "half-truths" by the beauty community may not seem like that much of a big deal as compared to other forms of misinformation. But I believe you are doing important work helping people save money, feel better about themselves and not feel down when viral "idiot-proof" products don't work for them. A lot of people talk about the cost of beauty products, but creators can sometimes forget how tied to self-esteem the beauty industry is. So it can really hurt people and their self image when the next big miracle "it" product doesn't work for them. Thank you for equipping us with the tools to fight against some of that.
All the reviews I saw on the Maybelline powder they were using a dampen sponge... thank you for reviewing it with a brush because that's how I use powder foundations.
OMG the OPRETTY puffs toon puff is the best!! You need to try using the puffection puff while applying foundation, Natalie done a live & it’s the bomb!!!

Well, at least I know this shadow is pigmented. My cat was rudely woken up from his nap due to laughter, and gave me the most impressive glower. Well done!😹😹😹😹 I'm a powder foundation gal. I have been for several decades. Liquid always collects in lines. The only exception was when I used this velvet something mix-in that basically made the liquid dry down into a powdery finish, but that was so mattifying. I'm wondering if the shade range is a worth look into, as I have an obnoxious complexion that's hard to match, double so when the industry plays 52 card pickup with the shades instead of using a gradient.

That Maybelline powder foundation works really well with my combination skin. Where I get oily it looks good and doesn't break down. Where I'm dry it doesn't make my skin look crusty. I use a hydrating mist before and after I put on the powder foundation. It really is a good foundation. I like to use it with a brush to make it look more natural, especially when I only use that and maybe brow gel with a bit of blush.
I don't need botox/fillers, I use my viral ! Omg it's aaaaaamaaaaaaaaaaaazinggggg after only 20 seconds of use! Thank you for a wear test and explaining the colour changing, oiliness, mattifying things that are happening.
i ordered the HNB concealer, foundation not too long ago. the shades were off so i returned and repurchased them both and also picked up the loose powder since there was a sale. i don’t trust people on tiktok, nor am i easily influenced lol. you’d think that powder + puff combo was the second coming of christ with the way these women were exaggerating it’s performance. i really do love powder foundations and setting powders so i’m really interested to try it. to be honest i gave up on beauty ‘influencers’ years ago, i prefer following professional MUA’s like you, and people who know makeup theory and can analyse an ingredients list. i really appreciate your transparency and i’m looking forward to trying out this powder for myself. i think i’ll come back and leave an update of my first impression if i remember

I've been using that Maybelline powder and their Fit Me powders too for years. I get rid of the sponge as soon as I get them lol. They're good products for oily skin when used with a good brush!
I personally have you to thank for teaching me, in my 30s, how to actually be proficient in doing my own makeup. I'm the person who has been putting foundation and concealer under my eyes forever. I just bought the makeup spray by charlotte tilbury and I live in Louisiana. Makeup no matter how oil controlling or how much powder will get shiny here (best alternative) or completely bunch up and break apart. But I went to an outdoor music festival in 90 degree weather and all the humidity. Let me tell ya my face looked so completely untouched with just the new spray being used from 11 am to midnight. I was so happy. I bought the mini. But I will swear by it for now on for hot humid weather.

If something goes viral on tic tok I don't believe it's good I come back to TH-cam and see if a creator I trust and has a similar skin type and age to me for a second opinion before I even think about buying it I appreciate the new de-influencing products video that are going around at the moment too I think people feel pressure to have a huge makeup collection and to buy the next viral product but what we should be doing is looking at our collection and thinking I'm not really needing a new foundation right now but I will keep that product on my wishlist for when I am running low don't forget make up expires and if you're not going to be able to use what you have in that time frame then buying more is just throwing your money away unless you're still looking for a product that works for you don't buy more
This is so hillarious - just yesterday I discovered this powder (in a shade wayyy to light for me) in my stash and used it with a separate puff on my face, hated the result at the end of the day (dry skin here). It really separated on the face, what my Manhattan powder foundation doesn't do. After application I sprayed it with a mist as well. Will try using it with a brush today and see how it goes! Maybelline has in the past had really good powder foundations. One of my favorites has been their loose mineral powder foundation. i have only been able to find it at Walmart the last 4-5 years. But it is my ride or die foundation because I can sweat my butt off in the Florida humidity or be pouring sweat down my face while visiting my mom in the Nevada sun and it doesn’t budge. As soon as I cool down and the sweat dries my makeup looks pretty much the same as when I put it on. I haven’t used liquid foundation in over 10 years because of it. 😂
I also have extremely dry skin and it looks fabulous and doesn’t dry me out as long as I am hydrated and don’t have visible dry patches on my skin.

It got really bad reviews, and in the pinned comment Robert ended up hating it. I'd skip it, reviews everywhere are bad. I just found Chantecaille Futuristic, it's a cream, and it's the best foundation ever. That's way more worth trying. Hope I saved you before it's too late!

I really like the Laura Gellar too! Lately, I’ve been laying color cream products first, and putting the foundation on top. At 58, I thought it would make texture more visible, but the opposite is the case.

I haven’t tried this specific powder puff but I have tried the ones from Trigwell Cosmetics and I love I love them. Zoe is so honest about the product saying exactly the same as you it’s a tool to help with application and not a miracle solution to remove pores etc. Loved this video thanks Robert for always being so informative 🖤💜

I love your commitment to battling misinformation online. Lies or misleading "half-truths" by the beauty community may not seem like that much of a big deal as compared to other forms of misinformation. But I believe you are doing important work helping people save money, feel better about themselves and not feel down when viral "idiot-proof" products don't work for them. A lot of people talk about the cost of beauty products, but creators can sometimes forget how tied to self-esteem the beauty industry is. So it can really hurt people and their self image when the next big miracle "it" product doesn't work for them. Thank you for equipping us with the tools to fight against some of that.
All the reviews I saw on the Maybelline powder they were using a dampen sponge... thank you for reviewing it with a brush because that's how I use powder foundations.

I'm a powder foundation gal. I have been for several decades. Liquid always collects in lines.
The only exception was when I used this velvet something mix-in that basically made the liquid dry down into a powdery finish, but that was so mattifying.
I'm wondering if the shade range is a worth look into, as I have an obnoxious complexion that's hard to match, double so when the industry plays 52 card pickup with the shades instead of using a gradient.

That Maybelline powder foundation works really well with my combination skin. Where I get oily it looks good and doesn't break down. Where I'm dry it doesn't make my skin look crusty. I use a hydrating mist before and after I put on the powder foundation. It really is a good foundation. I like to use it with a brush to make it look more natural, especially when I only use that and maybe brow gel with a bit of blush.

i ordered the HNB concealer, foundation not too long ago. the shades were off so i returned and repurchased them both and also picked up the loose powder since there was a sale. i don’t trust people on tiktok, nor am i easily influenced lol. you’d think that powder + puff combo was the second coming of christ with the way these women were exaggerating it’s performance.
i really do love powder foundations and setting powders so i’m really interested to try it. to be honest i gave up on beauty ‘influencers’ years ago, i prefer following professional MUA’s like you, and people who know makeup theory and can analyse an ingredients list. i really appreciate your transparency and i’m looking forward to trying out this powder for myself. i think i’ll come back and leave an update of my first impression if i remember

I've been using that Maybelline powder and their Fit Me powders too for years. I get rid of the sponge as soon as I get them lol. They're good products for oily skin when used with a good brush!

I just bought the makeup spray by charlotte tilbury and I live in Louisiana. Makeup no matter how oil controlling or how much powder will get shiny here (best alternative) or completely bunch up and break apart. But I went to an outdoor music festival in 90 degree weather and all the humidity. Let me tell ya my face looked so completely untouched with just the new spray being used from 11 am to midnight. I was so happy. I bought the mini. But I will swear by it for now on for hot humid weather.

that puff reminds me of Tati's blendiful puff from years ago. I had it back then and its probably buried in a box in my house somewhere but a few months ago I was able to get a really good dupe/knock off on amazon when that beauty blender puff was trending. I really like it

If something goes viral on tic tok I don't believe it's good I come back to TH-cam and see if a creator I trust and has a similar skin type and age to me for a second opinion before I even think about buying it I appreciate the new de-influencing products video that are going around at the moment too I think people feel pressure to have a huge makeup collection and to buy the next viral product but what we should be doing is looking at our collection and thinking I'm not really needing a new foundation right now but I will keep that product on my wishlist for when I am running low don't forget make up expires and if you're not going to be able to use what you have in that time frame then buying more is just throwing your money away unless you're still looking for a product that works for you don't buy more

This is so hillarious - just yesterday I discovered this powder (in a shade wayyy to light for me) in my stash and used it with a separate puff on my face, hated the result at the end of the day (dry skin here). It really separated on the face, what my Manhattan powder foundation doesn't do. After application I sprayed it with a mist as well. Will try using it with a brush today and see how it goes!
