I remember being so excited for 2020. High school senior, ready for prom, grad nite, graduation, going to see the summer Olympics in Tokyo, and first quarter away from home in college. So much was lost in 2020. A year I was praying for since 2016 became a year I was so happy to see end and a year I wish never happened.

I remember sitting on my bed in my bedroom, my now dead laptop on my lap, as my eyes shifted from the clock to my bedroom's TV screen waiting for midnight. My family had since disregarded New Year's celebrations as nothing important (my father often poo-pooed it), so we (my mother, father, and myself) were isolated in our own rooms.
Just as it struck midnight, I took a deep breath, exhaled, and savored its passing, knowing that a full decade had passed, and a new decade had just begun. I took a breath in acknowledgment that I have lived through another decade's history, and will experience yet another decade worth of history.
Never would i have thought at that moment, that an entire decade's worth of events would occur in those fateful following 12 months.
