At 43 this song stuck on my brain for 25 years. Now trying to learn the solos and after watching this tutorial seems like i'll stick with strumming :D Great Work man!
If it helps with visualizing the scales for the solo, the majority of the song is in the A major pentatonic box except for the actual solo section where it switches to the A minor pentatonic scale. Just shift the same patterns up 3 frets once the solo section hits and you’ll be cooking with gas.

Noel is nowhere near as simplistic a guitarist as people make him out to be (Yes I know Paul Weller wrote quite a bit of the solo but the beginning part of it is all Noel, as is "that" riff). Ha! Sorry about that. This was a couple of years ago and I think at the time I decided it would have been confusing to move the guitars around. I only ever see them on a big screen so it's fine for me... but if you are on a phone then I'm defo sorry! Blame Noel for having so many guitars on the track!

Question on this one. Acoustic site back a fair way in mix as the song gets going - so hard to hear. Does the strumming pattern stay pretty much exactly the same (90% of the song) even in the heavier parts ?

I always confused about the way people playing A,G chord with a crap while you can take easy chord cause the next chord is D and E. Can someone explain, is that literally different chord, beetwen crap and without crap?
He performed some of the lead guitar. I listened to the multitrack to do this and you hear all of his solo - even the bits that they didn't use. It's incredibly rough, free, aggressive playing. So different from Noel! But there is a mix between the 2 of them on there. It's great!
