    P.S. there's a lot of haters making comments! The man wasn't showcasing his awesomeness. It was a informative video on usage of a double end bag. And it's a "double end bag". How does such a simple, straight to the point video generate so much hate? To the maker of the video, keep up the good work.

    I tried to do this at the YMCA and could not even close to doing what you are doing. I was hitting a bunch of air. What's most impressive about this video to me is not your boxing skills, but your communication skills and how you address the audience. This is something I definitely want to learn how to do. Do you have another video for the complete beginner like me?

    First and foremost, great accuracy like ive previously commented before. I've realized how difficult the double-end bag really is when I started boxing not too while ago. By watching this tutorial, I will be more confident when I approached this technical bag! Thanks man your the best! The more I go to boxing class and watch your videos, the more I boxing as itself! I feel that Boxing is under rated as a combat sport but it deserves more attention.

    Just recently broke my Reflex bag(Pole snapped at bottom), my speedbag(Swivel snapped) and my H.B(Split open/ in half).
    Luckily though I've got one standard double end bag and one really small one that I'll be using until and after receiving my new H.B.
    Thanks for nice tutorial all while explaining that some D.E bags tend to move more or less depending on what you want to practice.
    Loved practicing my slipping/dodging/faints on the reflex bag but will be fun finally putting the D.E one to good use, I've used the smallest one several times though there's and extremely small impact area on it which can lead to a bit of frustration.
    But hey, practice makes perfect. Thx again and ofc I'm subbing.
    Peace and love my brother.

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There are many kinds. At my gym we have both loose and tight double-end bags. The one in this video is actually about in the middle. A tight double-end bag can be good for practicing really fast combinations since it forces you to throw faster to match the quick rebound rhythm.

  • @grantdeluxe5274
    @grantdeluxe5274 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    What I tend to do for breathing when striking , is to breath out as fast and as powerful as you can, if you do this correctly you should feel your core tighten up every time you do this, I also find that when I do this I make sharp fs sound, if you are starting out boxing or any martial art, this may sound stupid but this helps tremendously with your training. the faster your breathe the faster you need your punch to be. in all sports speed comes first , then power. Much respect Johnny - Chris

    You can definitely practice handspeed in other ways as well...heavy bag, shadowboxing, etc. Using the double-end bag develops a rhythmic handspeed, and accuracy. It's easy to throw your hands back and forth, but to time it and with rhythm and accuracy, that's a different thing.

      @idiotic2276 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony Kras Not ragging on you, but you are punching down to hit the body, which could get you tagged and leave you open to big hits. You should crouch down to that level instead, but otherwise good.

    • @expertboxing
      @expertboxing  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sometimes I crouch down when I throw body shots, other times I don't. Distinguishing between the two adds dimension to my fighting strategy. Crouching is not necessary and at times can be a telltale sign of you going for the body shot.

    Nice video!! My opinion on glove size that someone asked... I use nothing less than 16oz. Because the more weight you use, the fastest your hands will be with lighter gloves or no gloves. It'll make it more challenging to keep up with the bag with heavier gloves.

    A senior boxer stopped me today at the gym and told me to get off the double ended bag and get on the heavy bag. He said I was slacking being on there. I was taking it steady on there cause my shoulder has pulled missing a punch and my hands hurt but I felt like saying that many trainers would disagree with him. Would you disagree? Great channel btw. :)

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Many gyms have tight bags and loose bags for both options. The loose ones for more movement, the tight ones for more high-speed punching. And if you're a hard puncher, you'll need a tighter one for sure. Just know that different things offer a different workout...and you're free to use whichever you want. Wildcard uses a tight one by default.

    • @crazypizza
      @crazypizza 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 things:
      1. Accuracy, you're not hitting it dead on. Start slow, get more control over it before you add power.
      2. Start with a tighter bag if you're just starting out. The looser the ropes, the harder to hit, work your way up.

    • @expertboxing
      @expertboxing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't hit it so hard and really work on your accuracy and not so much power and speed. Also too, maybe your gloves are lopsided in the front.

      Try whatever you see at the boxing shop. Then go to hardware store and get another if you don't like yours.

      Thanks! Surprisingly, there is no boxing store in my city. (I guess boxing isn’t a big deal here haha). But I will definitely try the hardware store for some bungee cords

    Isn't a small and loose double end bag theortically the best? Since it's small, it's harder to hit and it's loose so it'll go all over the place? I recently bought a 9'' one and I'm finding it a little too big and a little to easy to hit and time, I still miss it but yeah. I mean I tried having it loose and because of it's size it's way too slow, tried having it tight and that's a little bit better but yeah. What do you think? What are some cheap double end bags that you'd recommend?

      Yusuf Abdallah Until you try both, you won't really know what I'm talking about. Really tight and really loose is different from kind of tight and kind of loose.

      Mine was slow like that for a while.I got shorter bungee cords to make it tighter,and it moves alot faster.

      Damien Dimone I've just decided to order a 6'' one since the 9'' one is way too easy to hit. Once that gets here, i'll play around with the bungee cord tightness on the 6'' one.

    Hey Johnny, I'm looking at getting one of these as it seems like the most versatile piece of training equipment to have.
    Do you think a 7" is too small for an all around bag?

      DE bags are cheap. Try it and see. :)

    Yes, I already have a video on "How to Wrap Your Hands". I only like Nike Boxing Shoes. Adidas are good, too.

    I am not Titleboxing customer support. Ask them if you have questions about their product or don't understand their website. 6" is not too hard depending on how tight the ropes are. Try it first and see.

    Thank you for your reply. I am a hapkido stylist and I get very discouraged with many of those caught up in the MMA hype where I live locally and I observe a lack of discipline and technique from instructors. I became interested in your videos to incorporate a workout routine with boxing to further develop my health and skills. I had been in poor health in the past few years but I am getting back on track.

      Hapkido is for pussies. Stop wasting your time training martial arts if you don’t want to do full contact or spar in a legitimate martial art.

      It has to do with the elastic cords you use.
