Kirsty, I'm in the USA, found your channel by accident and have fallen in love with your vids. I'm a cake decorator by trade, but I'm fascinated by your nail trade. Gorgeous artistry, very informative, very personable in the way you break down the details. Thank you. I feel I could do a nail a two... HA. :) Keep up the great vids and glad I came across your channel. Have a great day. Kirk
OMG, THANK YOU! I am not a professional nail technologist. I just do my own nails and have had a nail that broke like this. I had no idea what to do and couldn't afford to go to a salon so, I left it alone. I'm glad I made the right call! At least now, I know how and WHEN to repair it, if it ever happens again.
I love the way you explain to your watchers and how you are not afraid of other pro's opinions. I have bin doing nails since 1976 and as much as other nail techs may not like it " I DO AGREE WITH YOU 100 0/0 ". Now if I may say so .... if you were to not have done it fully sculpted I do believe it runs the risk of having water or liquids get under the nail where it is damaged and the humidity trapped between the plastic and the real nail could indeed cause more damage and even a fungi. " But " placing the acrylic over the area and sealing it with the acrylic prevents that from happening and allows the nail to grow from under the cuticle as it normally does PUSHING ALL OF IT OUT EVENTUALLY and with a little extra weight at the point of damage helping it adhere better when growing the natural nail back to cover that space ... Also if I may add .... acrylic is a more flexible compound that because of its gritty termination , " may even have better breathing than plastic tips. But that is up to your understanding. At a dental office they will let you know that if it is used on the roof of your mouth for dentures ..... " then how harmful would that make it on your finger tip "? Yes I was also trained in making dentures .... hahahaha . I enjoy you guys an awful lot. Those who think they know it all cause of their years at this don't make room for the newer stuff so I always watch .... Thanks a bunch and God bless. Keep those videos coming , we love you !!!!!! yay !!! VIVA CHRISTY !!!!
I like the music so quiet and nice. Love it. Great tutorial as ever/ I have a poorly thumb nail myself. Now I know what to do. I'll Keep practicing with acrylics
I learnt something in this video! My husband always tells me that I need to let my nail breathe when I break a nail (I am not qualified and only do my own nails) and now I can tell him to shove it lmao I drench my hands in coconut oil & put cotton gloves on before bed. When I wake up they’re silky smooth and all the rough skin is gone 👌🏼
Thanks for your advice! It’s calmed me down 😂 I love my nails so much and wanted to run to my nail tech after this bad break on my pinky; but you’re right. My nail needs to rest 💖
i do my own nails as well and i can confirm as a fellow right handed person using my left hand is scary asf also your youtube videos are the only reason i had the confidence to do my own nails
I wish you would do a fashion haul, your tops are so freaking adorable and I would love to see where you buy them from! You have a great sense of style
You call it an infill here in Australia we call it a refill , I’d never heard of a pinching tool before watching your channel and your techniques with nails has really opened my eyes to so many things you can do with nail products
Goodmorning Ms. Kirsty, I watched a video on you placing nail tips on and sculpting. You are correct that Forms are so much easier than tips. I’m licensed hairstylist/nail technician and in school we were taught acrylic tips over forms. I’ve done Fiberglass as well. You have to measure, file down nail and time consuming over forms. Can you do gel creating a nail with forms. I like Gels. Your teachings is so precise. Love from Canada 🇨🇦❤️
Very informative Kirsty. I had a client come in yday with a natural nail similar to that, and very uneven and lumpy. But I just built it up without a tip/form to the length of her other natural nails so not long at all and she was very surprised.
Y’all look like y’all have so much fun and wish I could hang out with y’all 🥰 I am a non practicing (other than on myself) licensed nail tech but definitely want to start doing sculptured nails 😎
I LOVE your hair in this one! So pretty. I really appreciate how you explain everything. You really are a great instructor. Thank you for sharing your work with us! You prove that with proper instruction and practice, amazing results will follow. We just love You! 🏆🖌💅💚💚💚
Kirsty, how did you know that I have been desperately searching for a video about exactly this problem on my own nails, I want to be shown how to help them heal, and get fixed!! So thank you you read my mind. I thought ugh I wish Kirsty could explain this to me, and now you are! Your the best!
At first I thought Kirstie said she had a monkey nail LOL My nails are awful. I work in retail and I'm always chipping or breaking one on a shelf or a shopping cart. I only get them professionally done about once a year.
What if the skin is showing in the middle of the nail bed?? And Building Gel how can we use it on that.. I have a case like this help?? Thanks you r awesome
To make your skin on your hands be plumper and less wrinkly, I suggest Bag Balm. Yes, this oily but is in a good way. I also use it on my face. I love this stuff. It has been used since 1889, developed for use on cow udders to heal and protect cracked teats and abrasions.
I have been a nail biter all my life. I once tried breaking the habit but it didn't work. Ever since I've been watching your videos i was sad I'd never have nails that are atleast half of what you have. So i stopped biting my nails. I can say I'm doing great for now. Thank you Kristy for giving me motivation ❤️
Just watched. I love watching your videos. I always learn something new and you always make me laugh. You are a true artist and do amazing work. If I didn't live half way around the world feom you is make the trip foe you to do my nails. Keep posting the videos please. I love to learn more about doing nails and about the nails themselves. Thank you. 👍
Me too. When I was very small, my mom would allow me to get manicures, and the cuticle process would be a bit traumatic. I kinda just cringe, clutch my fingers and try not to look at the cuticle parts these days. Lol
I feel for your poorly nail, been there, done that. Thanks for this, it got me through the full nail growth, healthy. Love your vids. And we use manky down South to. Byyyye.
You have to sterilize the area A red Spark before replying the acrylic. The nail would grow out however in way that doesn't look appealing maybe and it's not good idea to put false nail or acrylic or gel that haven't heal. Sharing some thoughts. And yes she know but she show ing us how making contented for us. She the pro. If the nail can't grow you apply false one because fungi or bacteria created a affected which she mentioned. A other TH-camr also fix bad fungus feet and hand he's amazing like she is.
I know this is kind of an older video but I have a broken toe nail that I’ve been wrapping with first aid cream. Before I put product on it, should I let it dry out or just dehydrate it? It’s been a few weeks since it fell off. Would I be able to use hard gel?
I don't think you should put anything on an appendage with no nail at all. It could cause pain and damage I should think, plus there will be nothing for it to adhere to.
I cut my index finger two weeks ago. I also cut into my nail (natural nails). The cut is healing but de cut damaged the fingernail pretty much. Think its gonna take two months to grow the cut out... Can I go do acrylics over the cut?
Kirsty, will you please, please, please do an in-depth video on sculpting a russian almond & a pipe nail? Your videos have tought me so much on stiletto & ballerina nails...I'd love to learn more about some of the more extreme shapes 😀😘😍😀
I feel you. I broke my pinkie nail today in the door handle. I was chased by a wasp and when I was trying to find my keys to unlock the door, I slammed my pinke nail into the door handle. My little finger is so swollen now and it hurts so bad!
I thought I was the only one who filed my nails like this. I’m right handed but can use my left hand doing nails but when I file my right hand I ALWAYS move my hand versus moving the file!!!! Good to know this is ok
I have been wearing acrylics to help grow my nails out. They have grown out about a half inch pass the free edge so I decided to remove all acrylics and give them a rest. But I notice my nails are damaged and were over filed. They are thin and have a prominent C curve on the length. What can I do to widen my nail a bit and make it stay. Also one of my nails has separated from nailbed about half way down. I am taking care of it with tea tree oil and keeping it dry. Do you think it will reattach itself? What do you recommend I do with both of my problems? Thank you. 💜
Ok question, if you had a nail like this but the nail was there but lived from the nail bed would you remove that lifted part away and let it dry and then sculpt it?
Absolutely happy you did this video! Outstanding! Thank you. What grit drill bit did you use when removing you gel polish? I'm new to efiling, normally do all by hand filing and self teaching with drill. again thank you.
I broke a nail like that before and i lat it grow out but i was wondering if this technique would work with gel but havent tried it yet on clients because i was not 100% sure it would work. I hope it would work with gel as i have not done much with acrylic
Hi Kristy, i really enjoy your wonderful videos. i recently started doing my nails again an d found i have a nasty little allergy when i use acrylic and gel products. So i have decided to use a nail stand to do my nails and put them on afterwards. what would you suggest to be the best way to glue the nails on where they stay on longer then a couple days?
I too am very rough and hard on my hands and have about 4 that look like that right now. *geeze* I cannot seem to get the acrylics to last longer than about 8 days on certain fingers before they start popping off! I do lots of dishes and am rough with my kids and with sports. Any suggestions?? I prep my nails very well and use all one brand (a good "expensive" brand) but this is a consistent problem! Please help!
So it's ok when my nail grow up a little bit and the onycholysis isn't really deep to put a hybrid polish on top of it without cutting it really short?? The bacteria wouldn't get there?
I would say max adhesion liquid and the clear powder. I'm a beginner and I started using products from AliExpress and bornpretty and thinking I was terrible at acrylics but I got naio products and they're so easy to use! And a brush of course :)
I wouldn’t use Max adhesion to start. They used to do a beginners kit on the website, that’s what I used to get started. Small amount of product in it but it’s cheap and gives you everything you need (well nearly everything). In that kit they had medium speed liquid and that gives you more time to play with the acrylic before it cures.
Although that said, max adhesion isn’t bad to start with at all, when I started out I had problems with lifting and once I switched to max adhesion it really helped, but for me I’m still glad I used medium speed liquid first because it gave me more time to sculpt the acrylic before it cured
The tool you used to remove the dead skin near the cuticle, does it not shave down the nail as well? I think I have a similar tool but I’m scared to use it because it seems like I’m shaving off the nail too.
I could FEEL this in my own nail bed. OMG.

As a nail lover myself , breaking a nail is the worst thing .
Worse thing ever! And it hurts sometimes too
Shanelle Shanelle especially when you have nail art ideas to show off or test.
@@nooneimportant9547, MOST times!!! Lol

Ikr! I value my natural nails so much, cuz they look so smooth and long, and I broke my nail once a small corner and i cried for a week
Kirsty, can you do a video about all sorts of nail problems/diseases?
Esther van Strien that’s a fabulous idea. Please Kirsty
shelly roquet, sounds like eggshell nails but i'd need a photo.

I never wear fake nails, mine get pretty long and are strong naturally so I wait for it to grow... :(
PiPi414 no harm in using gel or acrylic (gently of course) until your natural nail grows back!!
OMG I literally broke a nail and was looking it up because I didn’t know what to do and then I got this videos notification!!!!!! 😱😱😱❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕

Lmmfao “it doesn’t need to breath... it has no lungs” I’m am 100% dead!!!!!
Asking since I didn't find already in comments. Will nail regrowth reattach to nail bed with acrylic on it.
Yes because....
The natural nail will only be reattached once it grows back in.
The acrylic will grow out with the new nail growth.
It looks like it was a painful break.
I hurt looking at it
I know this is kind of an older video but I have a broken toe nail that I’ve been wrapping with first aid cream. Before I put product on it, should I let it dry out or just dehydrate it? It’s been a few weeks since it fell off.
Would I be able to use hard gel?
Excellent informative video, thanks Kirsty xx
Random question, but could u sculpt an acrylic nail on big toe nail bed, that has healed from permanent nail removal?
I don't think you should put anything on an appendage with no nail at all. It could cause pain and damage I should think, plus there will be nothing for it to adhere to.
Yes! I have actually seen this done. Dont smoothie the nail bed , keep it rough. I just can’t remember the video
This video is Perfect timing! I broke a nail pretty far down last week it hurt so bad!! It bled everywhere 😭
YOU ARE AWESOME!! Thanks for your videos!!

theres an odorless liquid on amazon in a brownish bottle. ive used it for years, it’s really good.
