Another thing to point out regarding Lightning damage: By and far it's the weakest defense on the majority of heavy armor sets, with (surprise surprise) Bully Goat being the main exception. It's another thing that carried over from DS3, where Strike and Lightning damage was how you most optimally killed people.
From my experience in DS3, Strike was always optimal in PvP, Lightning falls off in higher levels when people had more Endurance, so Dark was actually the persistant threat. Fire and Magic were good against ither casters but they had limits.

@@TheKing-qz9wd that's true. Most attack miracles were pretty bad. Aside of lighting arrow the others were situational at best. Lighting stake and sunlight spear poisecasted could be used to trade with big weapons, and lighting storm was good on wakeup but that's about it.

Also yes, fortissax's is much better than the regular dragon stake. The first combos into the second and is pretty much non-negotiable death, though it's a little inconsistent. The damage is not reduced to compensate for the fact there's two of them at all, or at least not in any way that matters. Longer animation is not a downside since the lightning particles of the first stake protect you. Straight upgrade in every way, it's even more FP efficient than two ancient spears.

A really neat build. And a cool matchup. I did something similar with Dragon Cult Incs and Endure AoW Scythe. Relic Sword AoW really mixes up great with slower startup incantations.

Ive been saying that weapon, armor and talisman dropping should not be a thing. Consumables are SEMI ok(starlight shards🧐). But it just encourages players to not actually playthrough the game.
From already has a good solution for twinking, even: have these weapons come with weapon upgrades already on them. DS3 had _one_ shield in the Undead Settlement that came at +1 (and Blessed, for some reason), ER has two +8 weapons (Rogier's Rapier and a Banished Knight Halberd from Edgar's invasion)... and diddly squat else. Why not give the "OP" end-game weapons some upgrade levels already baked in, to prevent players from twinking with them? Okina dropping Rivers of Blood at +6 or +7, for example, would cut down on the annoyance of seeing it everywhere. And it's not like having to upgrade these weapons from base level yourself is a big hurdle or challenge to begin with, doubly so in a game where you can just buy the smithing stones. Code Vein did this all throughout the game; as you progressed, unique weapons and armor found in chests would almost always come with upgrade levels (never higher than you could get from the upgrade materials in the area, though), so it would take less time and grinding currency and materials to actually put the weapon to use, as it came out of the literal box with approximate upgrade levels to your own. From seemingly wanted to do that in ER, before promptly forgetting about that past Liurnia. Why not give the goody weapons some upgrade levels, so they can't just be _dromped_ by your overleveled phantom F.R.I.E.N.D.S.? Hell, do that to the boss weapons too, for good measure. +8 in Liurnia, +12 in Leyndell, +16 in Mountaintops, +20 in Farum Azula... you don't need to make _everything_ drop in levels, so as not to invalidate low-level invaders that want to use stuff that's endgamey-but-otherwise-normal, like the Miquellan Knight's Sword or Farum Azula Beastman weapons, but when you have beefier uniques, there's no reason not to have them locked to an upper matchmaking bracket (all the more if getting them requires an optional task, like NPC invasions, so if you reeeeeally don't want to get yeeted up the bracket by accident you can ignore them).
I agree. Any boss type armor/weapons and talismans in general should not be droppable. The amount of players I see below rune lvl 50 all the way down to 20 that have end game talismans, weapons and, armor Is staggering. Might as well just use cheat engine since you've butchered the game progression for yourself. I just can't get it around my head either. The babysitting at low rune level is just sad af. Couldn't imagine starting a brand new game and asking my level 150+ friends to drop me all the final boss gear and weapons or having them literally carry me on their back the entire game. Playing with friends is fun, but having them babysit me and making every obstacle become trivial just seems bland af.
i've been messing with a build like this at level 50. it relies on prophet's incredibly low starting endurance and high faith to work. If i drink my flask, i can BARELY cast all lightning incants, including death lightning. I've been using the partisan and lordsworn's straight sword with vyke's dragonbolt as it matches my armor. Said armor gives practically no poise, but good god do am i proud of how much i like it. I also put on dragonclaw and placidusax's ruin along with the lightning incants just to make my character be a little more dragon-like. I really like what you did with the lightning, I've been messing with it since day one in pvp, it's cool to see my favorite fromsoft youtuber playing with it :)
Love seeing all the Final Fantasy Tactics appreciation! Orlandu is the most OP charachterin any video game I've ever played. I think the Tactics devs felt a little bad about the difficult Weigraf fight so they just give you Orlandu as recompense lol
Ayyyy at long last! This is pretty much what I did for my madness character, the way the ritual sword looks is just so cool, i couldnt help but not use it on my gold madness boy, who had been dex/faith for the most part.
So this is a bit of a departure from the PVP videos. But I recently watched a "we only have 30 minutes to get OP and then we fight" Elden Ring video, and that seems like a great way to do some collab videos with other ER creators. 30 mins or 1 hour (starting after getting Torrent?) in your own world. Then when time's up you Duel. (They used the seamless co-op mod, but I think individual worlds makes more sense) You can add any restrictions to make it more interesting (no Greyoll, same starting class, no teleports), or alternatively mod in some extra stuff (medallions, free runes so you can skip grinding and just collect gear). You can start with 2 people and 1v1, but if you do it tournament style then any number of people can join. With the right mix of people and rule changeups, could be some infinite content until DLC? Also a way to bring together the PVP creators and the Challenge Run creators? Maybe even the Build/Guides channels as well. I've left this comment on a few other channels, but if an established creator like you suggests it, it'd probably get more traction
I'd watch those videos. One hour on their own stream so everyone can see there's no funny business, they have to get weapons, spells, gear and as many levels as possible in the hour, then everyone gets paired up randomly and then we have duels, and you'll have to jump around the streams to see it live but in the videos they can just edit it together, then the winners move on, another one hour of improvement and then duel. And then again until the bracket is the championship and they are already built and no prep time straight to the championship duel. That would be awesome
Also you could just do it locally if you have about 7 friends who all play. You're going to want at least 8 people so there is 2 building hours. More people mean more prep hours for the championship duel. But a short one would be cool. The strategy for the prep would be the most riveting part. Especially if you know the game well and you know if they're going a decent path or not. People in the chat could give them suggestions, who's fans are most knowledgeable? Lol. Yes, a Thunder God Cid build ! I wanted to do it, but was stuggling with the fashion. The gravekeeper's cloak would've been perfect if it had some kind of gear for the torso, Cid can't run shirtless lol
For the lightning stakes I actually did a test with both of them Ancient dragon lightning strike did around 1206 damage to solder of godricks near gate front Double lightning strike did around 1050 but hits twice. The double lightning strike is more useful for bosses because, there's two Regular lightning strike is better for PvP as it faster but if you have the poise and you enemy is aggressive enough you'll zap them to hell with double
If no one has said this, an easy nerf to wave of gold would be to just decrease the width(depth?) of the hitbox, making it more forgiving when timing rolls. People still get their strong weapon for pve they would just have to time it better for pvp.
Oh please stop with the nerf BS...there's a Jump button. ffs It's not one particular weapon/spell when doing hybred. I can easily swap RoB, whips or shield poker... There's lots of incantations spells..with quick casting speed. You can also get extra slots talismans. The ice spear/lighting/3 flying disc..if you dodge those..there's always the Pesty spell..that most peoples hates. Makes its LESS BORING to just do wack N roll..or jump head wack all the time. There's a counter build to everything...No need to nerf anything

If the terrain is uneven you can jump dodge it easier. Yon can also use terrain to BLOCK it...just like any other magic spells that chase you all over the screen. @@oneeyemonster3262 Blocking is not a consistent option tho, lots of times you will be in long corridors or open spaces with nowhere to hid when fighting this weapon. I think the only consistent way to not get hit by waves of gold is to use BHS, which 1.some ppl don't have on their builds bc they don't manage their inventory and 2. some ppl can't hardswap to. I guess the right word here is not "nerfing" it's "fixing a bug" bc the hitbox is definitely not intentional.

You DONT need to swap left hand..if you simply stick with one type of magic...I perfer incantation...because I can HEAL/CURE/BUFF and attack..there's 8 slots..The leave me with 5 different RANGE..well, U cant dodge lighting spear in a hallway very good. Or I can spam crapload of holy DISC..If I miss a crapload will fly back toward me and hit enemies in the back of the head..... I can also easily cast an ice magic spear. I can also use a regular spear ( with poison or not)...ashes of war will allow you to throw the spear...it has more than MID Range. Or I can cast 2 Red magic lighting bolts...It'll propell me in the air while casting...sort of like the gransax,...I can also easily use the Bastard star. twin blood blade or even Melina sword to get air and make up distances. You just need practice the SPACE and timing. ONE click to swap to bloody twin blade or other weapons with fast slicing ashes of war or a dagger/claw or i can wack you in the head with a giant MAGIC sword. 5-ea attack MAGiC slots on top of buff/heal/cure....just saying. There's ashes of war you can apply to different weapons to get similar move sets as katana or melina's dance move. Equip Hound step on a dagger, claws or a whip. TIME it just right. ( it's not any different than rolling into enemies) Ive dodge the Elden Beast spamming crap load of different magic many many times without getting damaged. Sometimes I had to JUMP too...just saying EVERYTHING is BUGGIE to CRAPPY arss players. The scarlet sword is SLOW. Be it swinging or casting Magic.
The one time I've fought against the sacred relic sword the ash of war did no damage because the invader was super high latency while the host was normal and smooth, but when the invader used the wave of gold, his latency was so high that it straight up didn't register me or the host getting hit
I would much rather fight this weapon than dual bleed spears... Also, if anyone ever has trouble with the AoW, you can overcome it easily using the incantation that basically grants you +50% holy damage resistance
Has Dual Naginata use really increased since the patch? I have seen barely anything else than it and Dual Bleed Twinblades when Arcane got fixed at the start. There were less and less people using them until it felt like just a "normal" setup instead of a way over-used setup. I haven't really felt a big increase of them since the patch myself, invading as a RL138 build most of the time. Moonveils also haven't increased, I believe, but due to the lack of Rivers users now it feels like there are more Moonveil users in comparison.
Idk about nagi in particular, but I've seen way more dual spear in general. Gransaxx + lighting pike, double frost clayman, double bleed pike etc. Still nowhere near as a common as pre nerf rivers was though.
My invader's journey character (inspired by your "how to make a build (and like it)" video) is picking up Gransax when she gets to Leyndell. Wielder of fire and lightning, frenzy and dragon, she approaches!!
Seeing all these lightning spells has me wanting to make another build.. even though I've already got a faith build I'm working on. I thought it would be cool to have an apostate build that uses pyro/black flame stuff and the godslayer's sword (cause what's more renouncement of faith than using stuff designed to kill gods ?) But now I'm questioning whether it would be better to do faith/strength over dex since fire scales on strength... I get the feeling I'm gonna be spending a lot of time on the wiki and at Renala lol
@@nachalnik5738 Yeah apparently fire that's on weapons actually scales on strength. So like if you just fire infuse a weapon it'll get better scaling on strength than faith but if you flame art infuse it then it'll scale better on your faith. It's a really odd system but I've seen multiple people talking about it and they're pretty knowledgeable about the game
I am not criticizing, merely sharing my experience with wave of gold in pvp: it could be dodged and rolled, and strafed if close enough. It only becomes a problem when enemy is either swarmed or multitasking (and in this case anything will be as dangerous). Useful for farming only. Even for pure pve Blasphemous blade is better because of heal. Not sure how last boss weapon has such a narrow usage, but it is what is is. Fun when you make it work in pvp though.
i wonder if wave of gold desync is a playstation or console issue. although i have seen videos of it happening, and have heard many good players mention it and explain it, ive never experienced it myself playing on pc. however, all the people ive seen complain about it have been playstation enjoyers, and i cant think of any pc players ive heard mention it. are there any pc players who have regularly experienced the wave of gold desync out there?
Ok as a faith dex build at 125 Golden relic sword def not hard to dodge at all u can do one simple roll only a problem when your invading and one of the 3 players spams it

+2 Favor, Jar Seal, the other 2 I swap around. 2 Fingers for damage. Godfrey Icon for big spell damage. Shard of Alex for Bolt of Graham Snacks, just whatever feels useful.
Totally disagree on the Wave Of Gold. Its so easy to dodge it, even with latency. All you literally do is jump to the wave and go through it. Does not need to be nerfed.
Excellent at 137. Personally, I'd grab more mind at the expense of 10 vigor and the 3 extra Dex isnt doing as much for you as Mind. Otherwise you've hit the nail on the head, imo. I'd recommend you trying Keen weapons, the Old Lord Talisman, and Electric Armament. Thats where the build shines. You have the arsenal of lightning spells, but you hit like a truck for 2 minutes of Electric on a Keen weapon at 40. Harder than someone using Keen at 70 Dex, because you already noticed you're hitting one of the lowest defenses on players and theres a multitude of places where they take bonus damage from being wet. I don't like buff builds and I love playing this this. Dex/Fth is awesome, and I'm glad you're trying it and taking advantage of that Gravel Stone Seal. Now, dress up your dragon barbie and try Dragon Communion!
Also, consider trying Fortissax Lightning. With the light roll people can get out. th-cam.com/video/gk70xQ2zIe0/w-d-xo.html However, in general it is really good at catching people who aggressively roll into you which will kinda work really well sacred relic AoW me thinks
I don't mean to state the obvious but you can literally jump over wave of gold even with high latency. Its easy as hell if you just jump instead of try rolling through it.
The dungeon master was silent so he must not have a problem with Saint using the sacred sword. so... if the dungeon master is cool with it, I'm cool with it. Haters can choke on the mukbang noodles
Im surprised you think theese lightning spells are good, lol. Ive tried to mess around with every kind of build combination to make them "Elden Ring-Good", and I just cant. They suck. They look cool, but they suck compared to literally everything else in the game. 80 Faith+ fully charged lightning spear? Bolt of Granssax deals more damage at 40 dex AND is faster. All of the red lightning incants are too slow! DS3s Sunlightspear was twice as fast to cast and still oneshot people. Also, aside from Ancient dragon lightning strike, they have pitifull damage.
People complaining about that sword just don't have good timing. You can literally just hop over it if you jump a second before it hits you I don't think it's ever hit me even once in my 600 hours.
The people who have issues with it try to roll it I think. Tried rolling it - got hit. Tried jumping it - 100% success rate of not getting hit basically

Lightning wasn't great in Ds3 at all. Every build had at least decent endurance, which scaled lightning defense.

To dodge wave of gold you have to dodge a bit later than you'd think, as if the hitbox is slightly behind the front of the wave

For the lightning stakes I actually did a test with both of them
Ancient dragon lightning strike did around 1206 damage to solder of godricks near gate front
Double lightning strike did around 1050 but hits twice.
The double lightning strike is more useful for bosses because, there's two
Regular lightning strike is better for PvP as it faster but if you have the poise and you enemy is aggressive enough you'll zap them to hell with double
If no one has said this, an easy nerf to wave of gold would be to just decrease the width(depth?) of the hitbox, making it more forgiving when timing rolls. People still get their strong weapon for pve they would just have to time it better for pvp.

There's lots of incantations spells..with quick casting speed.
You can also get extra slots talismans.
The ice spear/lighting/3 flying disc..if you dodge those..there's always
the Pesty spell..that most peoples hates.
Makes its LESS BORING to just do wack N roll..or jump head wack all the time.
There's a counter build to everything...No need to nerf anything

It's NOT any different than dodging. The AXIS are just different when jumping or rolling into whatever the hell magic spell.

If the terrain is uneven you can jump dodge it easier. Yon can also
use terrain to BLOCK it...just like any other magic spells that chase
you all over the screen.

@@oneeyemonster3262 Blocking is not a consistent option tho, lots of times you will be in long corridors or open spaces with nowhere to hid when fighting this weapon. I think the only consistent way to not get hit by waves of gold is to use BHS, which 1.some ppl don't have on their builds bc they don't manage their inventory and 2. some ppl can't hardswap to. I guess the right word here is not "nerfing" it's "fixing a bug" bc the hitbox is definitely not intentional.

You DONT need to swap left hand..if you simply stick with one type of magic...I perfer incantation...because I can HEAL/CURE/BUFF and attack..there's 8 slots..The leave me with 5 different RANGE..well, U cant dodge lighting spear in a hallway very good.
Or I can spam crapload of holy DISC..If I miss a crapload will fly back toward me and hit enemies in the back of the head.....
I can also easily cast an ice magic spear.
I can also use a regular spear ( with poison or not)...ashes of war
will allow you to throw the spear...it has more than MID Range.
Or I can cast 2 Red magic lighting bolts...It'll propell me in the air while casting...sort of like the gransax,...I can also easily use the Bastard star.

There's ashes of war you can apply to different weapons to get
similar move sets as katana or melina's dance move.
Equip Hound step on a dagger, claws or a whip. TIME it just right.
( it's not any different than rolling into enemies)

many many times without getting damaged.

The one time I've fought against the sacred relic sword the ash of war did no damage because the invader was super high latency while the host was normal and smooth, but when the invader used the wave of gold, his latency was so high that it straight up didn't register me or the host getting hit

About lansaexs glaive, it should have a pretty strong hyper armour, so try trading sometimes.
I would much rather fight this weapon than dual bleed spears... Also, if anyone ever has trouble with the AoW, you can overcome it easily using the incantation that basically grants you +50% holy damage resistance

Has Dual Naginata use really increased since the patch? I have seen barely anything else than it and Dual Bleed Twinblades when Arcane got fixed at the start. There were less and less people using them until it felt like just a "normal" setup instead of a way over-used setup.
I haven't really felt a big increase of them since the patch myself, invading as a RL138 build most of the time.
Moonveils also haven't increased, I believe, but due to the lack of Rivers users now it feels like there are more Moonveil users in comparison.
Idk about nagi in particular, but I've seen way more dual spear in general. Gransaxx + lighting pike, double frost clayman, double bleed pike etc.
Still nowhere near as a common as pre nerf rivers was though.
My invader's journey character (inspired by your "how to make a build (and like it)" video) is picking up Gransax when she gets to Leyndell. Wielder of fire and lightning, frenzy and dragon, she approaches!!
Seeing all these lightning spells has me wanting to make another build.. even though I've already got a faith build I'm working on. I thought it would be cool to have an apostate build that uses pyro/black flame stuff and the godslayer's sword (cause what's more renouncement of faith than using stuff designed to kill gods ?) But now I'm questioning whether it would be better to do faith/strength over dex since fire scales on strength... I get the feeling I'm gonna be spending a lot of time on the wiki and at Renala lol

@@nachalnik5738 Yeah apparently fire that's on weapons actually scales on strength. So like if you just fire infuse a weapon it'll get better scaling on strength than faith but if you flame art infuse it then it'll scale better on your faith. It's a really odd system but I've seen multiple people talking about it and they're pretty knowledgeable about the game

I am not criticizing, merely sharing my experience with wave of gold in pvp: it could be dodged and rolled, and strafed if close enough. It only becomes a problem when enemy is either swarmed or multitasking (and in this case anything will be as dangerous). Useful for farming only. Even for pure pve Blasphemous blade is better because of heal. Not sure how last boss weapon has such a narrow usage, but it is what is is. Fun when you make it work in pvp though.

+2 Favor, Jar Seal, the other 2 I swap around. 2 Fingers for damage. Godfrey Icon for big spell damage. Shard of Alex for Bolt of Graham Snacks, just whatever feels useful.

Totally disagree on the Wave Of Gold. Its so easy to dodge it, even with latency. All you literally do is jump to the wave and go through it. Does not need to be nerfed.

Excellent at 137. Personally, I'd grab more mind at the expense of 10 vigor and the 3 extra Dex isnt doing as much for you as Mind. Otherwise you've hit the nail on the head, imo. I'd recommend you trying Keen weapons, the Old Lord Talisman, and Electric Armament. Thats where the build shines. You have the arsenal of lightning spells, but you hit like a truck for 2 minutes of Electric on a Keen weapon at 40. Harder than someone using Keen at 70 Dex, because you already noticed you're hitting one of the lowest defenses on players and theres a multitude of places where they take bonus damage from being wet. I don't like buff builds and I love playing this this. Dex/Fth is awesome, and I'm glad you're trying it and taking advantage of that Gravel Stone Seal. Now, dress up your dragon barbie and try Dragon Communion!

Its easy as hell if you just jump instead of try rolling through it.

Ive tried to mess around with every kind of build combination to make them "Elden Ring-Good", and I just cant. They suck. They look cool, but they suck compared to literally everything else in the game.
80 Faith+ fully charged lightning spear? Bolt of Granssax deals more damage at 40 dex AND is faster.
All of the red lightning incants are too slow! DS3s Sunlightspear was twice as fast to cast and still oneshot people. Also, aside from Ancient dragon lightning strike, they have pitifull damage.

People complaining about that sword just don't have good timing. You can literally just hop over it if you jump a second before it hits you I don't think it's ever hit me even once in my 600 hours.
The people who have issues with it try to roll it I think.
Tried rolling it - got hit.
Tried jumping it - 100% success rate of not getting hit basically
