    I am a French teacher and have always found it more useful to not call them verbs of "movement " - that could confuse people because just about every verb involves movement but doesn't necessarily take être in the passé composé. I prefer to give the image of a house - all actions involving coming or going from the house, and ascending and descending within the house take être in pp. these are the verbs included in dr mrs van der tramp (as in the video). If you call them verbs of movement, for example, you have some that don't fit at all into this category - e.g. rester = to stay (no movement involved), mourir = to die, (not much movement involved!), then we have lots of verbs of movement... danser, courir, marcher etc etc which do not take être in the passé composé

      @learnfrenchwithalexa  6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      You are completely right Caroline, I wouldn't call them this either, especially when the verb MARCHER is not considered as a movement verb! However and for the purpose of tag and algorithm we have to title this video Movement verbs. All the best and thank you for your valued input :) Alexa

    So, these verbs in the Passé Composé are conjugated with être but in the the Présent and Futur tenses are conjugated with avoir?

    • @cardaveux
      @cardaveux 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No neither. For example aller presént it's; je vais, tu vas, il va, nous allons, vous allez, ils vont and in futur simple it's j'irai, tu iras, il/on ira, nous irons, vous irez, ils iront, There is another term called futur proche. For example je vais aller, tu vas aller etc but you dont have to learn this at the beginning. Like aller, in french exist more irregular verbs than you may think (voulvoir, pouvoir, falloir etc.) and you have to learn it "par coeur." ;-)

    On a personal note, with cycling events coming up like the Critérium du Dauphiné and Tour de Suisse which are the final lead up races to the Tour de France at the start of July i would be very interested in how the ACTUAL names of towns,regions and general tourist information that is handed out during the TV Coverage by English and Australian commentators for where i am from on how the Actual pronunciation is made in regards to these topics.
    Just must 2 cents as i have just found your TH-cam Channel and YES i have just subscribed
