Love this section of the N. fork due to the big numbers of fish and the fact hardly anybody fishes it. Fun day of catching these hard fighting beautiful fish.
I'm jealous. I was planning on going there last week and I ended up at Milton for dinks. Great video Py. Did you happen to see anyone gold prospecting on that stretch of water?
Yeah it's one of my favorite rivers. Never have seen anyone prospecting there but there are several claims along that stretch. I very rarely see anyone one the river fishing. It's a tough river because of rocky bottom and fluctuating wayer flows. Lots of fish in there though.
Love the videos. Question, do you traditionally add weight to your tight-line setup to get flies down in the fast, deep water you fish. I just got a 10' nymphing rod, and I'm learning the tight-line techniques.
I use brown semi seal for the thorax and brown scud back over the back. Brush out the semi seal for legs. Everything thing else is the same as a pheasant tail.
Awesome river! Yeah I use around a 20' leader including my tippet section. 12' of 9lb cortland indicator mono to a 2.5' sighter. I attach 4.5 to 5' of tippet off a tippet ring on the sighter. Dropper tag about 18" up from the end of the tippet.
Thanks! Only been doing it 3 yrs but conventionally fly fished rivers for over 30 yrs. Euro Nymphing got me back to fishing rivers again. It's so effective at covering water and it's amazing how many more fish you can catch!
If you want to get good info on Euro nymphing I recommend watching Devon Olsen, Tactical Trout TH-cam channel. Talks a lot about weight control and covering different sections of water.
Grew up fishing around plumas but never spent enough time up around caribou. What a great day, nice video 👍
God I miss clear moving water.
But it sure is cheap living here.

No, just use tungsten weighted flies. I have some double tungsten beaded flies that will get down even in the fastest or deepest water.
Love these videos man! Keep em up! Do you use flashback pheasant tails or just regular pheasant tails?

Way to dominate that river!! Great catches. Do you make your own sighter leader?

Shame about the low population of fish. 😅
Definitely could use a few more😊
Cfs look to be just right and nice runs of water. 👍
In the morning the flows are low. In the afternoon when it gets hot they start running more water to make electricity. It can go up pretty high.
Just found your channel, really like your videos. I’m learning to tightline right now and you’ve got it down.

Crushing it again
Definitely helps that the river is full of fish. Fun river to fish!
