- First time fishing this river and I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting to catch a lot of small fish, and I did but also caught some very nice fish. Access is difficult and there's lots of wading involved but had a fun day.
Another awesome day! Couple studs in the bunch!
Yeah, fun day. Caught some good ones but the big one got away as usual. Lol. Definitely a sleeper stream, expected only small fish.
Some really good fishing man, bummer you couldn’t land those big browns. As always these videos just keep getting better and better!
I appreciate the uploads!
Thanks Lucas! Always looking for new water to try. This one was definitely a sleeper.
Nice video. Is this an artificial / barbless restricted stretch of water? Also, what kind of setup were you using that day? Nymph patterns? Thanks!
Looks like a fun river to pick apart! Great stuff
Pleasant surprise. Had lots of fish and some good ones. Lots of hiking to fish this river. Not a lot of access.
Reminds me of some streams I fished as a kid in the lake Almanor area. I wish I could find them again. Just beautiful. Nice video.
Thanks!
Another nice vid. Would love to hear more about your set up.
I'm using a Diamondback 10'- 2wt rod. A Grey's Tail Euro reel with a Cortland mono core Euro line. Leader is 12' of Cortland indicator mono. I like this because it's easy to see even in low light. About 30" of the tri colored sighter line from Cortland. Leader is between 4' to 5' of 4X depending on water depth.
Excellent.
Thanks! Appreciate it.
Y don't u name the river??
Of course not. And please don't!
If I don't mention the name it's out of respect for the locals that live in the area. If it's a well known spot thats not a "secret" I will give it's name.
Well done my friend.
Thanks Scott. Probably not going to make it down your way this summer. But looking forward to fishing with you at the Mid.
@@pythomp8390 I will see you in Nov.
You did have an excellent day at the river.
Well done!
Thanks! Lots of hiking up and down the canyon but well worth the effort. Definitely got my workout in😊
Looks like you did real good Pete.
Thanks Chris!
Is this a secret spot or care to share the name of the river?
Please don't share... these spots exist because they need to be found the old fashioned way (maps and boots).
Told some locals I wouldn't disclose this location. Had to edit it put of the intro.
@@pythomp8390 I think I know "about" where it's at, based on the vegetation... I'm excited to break out my maps and boots to try and find it this fall. I'm sure I'll find something and it will be an adventure!
@@pythomp8390 Completely understand! Thanks for sharing videos, I'm learning euro-nymphing in N. Cal area and it is always nice to see some different types of water
@@jdrogie Fair enough and good point; I've come across a few of those in Mendocino NF.
Are those gloves safe for fish?
Soft nylon sun gloves. I always wet my hands before handling fish. I think catching a fish is probably more hazardous. Way more fish die from being hooked in the gills, however I won't stop fishing for them.
