Instead of removing the wheel well splash guard, it is easier to loosen the motor mount bolts and jack up the passenger side of the engine with a piece of 2x4 to distribute the load across the oil pan. This gives you access to the hardware that is hard to reach.
Having done it both ways, it is much easier to get to the bottom hardware when splash guard is removed. Much, much easier. You can sit on a stool and do the work.
I thought it would be a good idea to tell you that I completed the repair about 2 weeks ago and my truck is still running great. Thank you very much, your video was perfect.
@dennismann9764 glaringly obvious in hindsight 😳, yes if your valve covers have never been removed replace the gaskets. These were less than 6 months old or so as another injector had been replaced earlier in the year and I didn’t include it in the list since I didn’t order the parts 🤦🏻♂️
Nice thoroughly explained video, on the two bottom back lower bolts you can get to from top with ratcheting 12 and patience…and very back hidden bolt can be removed with a 12mm deep socket no extension
Actually I couldn’t, we knew when he brought the truck that the batteries were on the way out, so much so that the trickle charger would trip a fault and stop charging. So I left it with the trickle charger AND a 2 amp charger for 2 solid days 😆. When we finally went to start it I turned off the trickle and kicked the 2 amp up to 10 amps. Those batteries were dead🪫
I did, but I went over kill precautions, propped the hood to clear the alligator clips of the more powerful charger, ran the non trickle charger through a fused surge protector (just in case). The issue is the insane amount of crank time this thing needs for the initial fire up after opening the fuel system as it’s purging any remaining air. If it was my truck (did the job for a friend of mine) I would’ve seriously considered new batteries
I noticed a rub mark on the injector wire when you unplugged it i hope that wasn't your problem, making it show a bad injector but any way grate job and video,,iam going to do the same soon. How has those parts seem to be holding up ever one say ford only with deep pockets ,, 👍👍
Right around the 18:00 mark, nope definitely there before, this was and Dept of Agriculture work truck purchased from an auction. Someone’s been in there before. Clear signs this thing has seen its fair share of service. For 300k miles it doesn’t look bad, on the passenger side bank I could tell one other injector had already been done.
@frederickmyers7372 Pretty much, instead of the A/C, on the drivers side it’s the steering column and brake master cylinder confining your space. Also since the driver side valve cover doesn’t have the spout to add oil it might come out easier
This is one of these best videos I have ever seen regarding instructions. Very, VERY good information!!

Great job, well spoken, and very thorough.

@joeyloizzo8725 I’m so glad to hear that, it’s a pleasure to be of service 🫡
Thank you sir. Wish everyone's videos where this good
Dude thanks for a great and informative video....
Great job guys, thanks for the video 👍🏽
DO WE REPLACE VALVE COVER GASGET?

Great tip! Anything that can help someone avoid having to pull the cab off 👍🏼
Nice, informative and excellent video, now how did you start it with that small battery charger? My batteries dont idle as much....😢

@@CrookedMustache So did you charge both batteries? I am leaving mine to charge overnight...the passenger side battery...

@@CrookedMustache Well tha ks again for very excellent video. Will update you on my outcome
..
Dude thank you for this video. My 2004 excursion 6.0 needs injectors. I'd almost be willing to pay you to come to Oklahoma and help me.
i have a Daughter with tiny hands we call those bolts Heily bolts she gets paid diesel tech wages to remove and install them

Is it same process for drivers side? Or is it easier

All 3 of the hard-to-remove valve cover bolts came out extremely easy for me with a ratchet wrench
Edit: i have massive hands
Oh my gosh so funny and nice awsome work
Do my injectors! Lol
Located in Daytona Beach area
Good overall, but do not remove the fender skirt. If you have a ratcheting 12mm you can get the valve cover bolts.
Why not put blocks between the body and the frame?
To like slowly jack the body up? 🤔 didn’t think about raising the body. That actually doesn’t sound that crazy
