I had never worked on a diesel engine in my life. I. Came across a 2005 superduty lariat for $3 k from a friend who owns an auto body shop. It was a tota but he fixed it up body wise immaculate. It had a no start hot issue. I was able to do all the work myself by repeatedly watching Rons videos. Thanks Ron and family for all you have done for the world!!

Jeff here. Used Ron's material and FordTecMakaluco's as well to repair my 04 F350 6 liter. re-posting here what I just posted on Makaluco's channel in hopes it may help others. I can’t thank you enough for putting up this and other videos. Repair details on my truck are provided below in hope they may help others. I love doing projects but my day job (a lot of times it is 7 days a week) just doesn’t allow me the time to figure all these things out on my own. From a long-term Navy man, thanks for all you do. It truly means a lot to me. I wish you and your Family the best. Thanks again. Sincerely, Jeff 2004 F350 107k miles, original owner. Turbo replaced at 25k with reman. I pulled the turbo at 75k due to vanes being seized. Cleaned, put on anti-seize, seems to be fine. Starting at 90k, long term P0401, 0404, 1315. Cleaned EGR, resolved, but returned. Replaced EGR valve. Codes returned in a few months, cleaned, intermittent success. Truck ran fine, no smoke, plenty of power. Recently returning from a trip, vehicle began to run rough at idle, not horrible. White/gray smoke at idle. Under acceleration, heavy gray to black smoke. No new codes. Lacked some power. Have never had a coolant leak. EGR well looks good when I pull the EGR. Checked down pipe, ok. Used my XRay scan tool no new codes. Bought AutoEnginuity scanner with Ford enhanced package. Scan with this tool indicated that at some time in the past p0281 had been set, but was not active. Ran the Power Balance test, indicated number 7 was not contributing equally. Ran the injector buzz test. Sounded good to me. I had my wife listen to the video of the buzz test and uncoached, she indicated that #7 sounded different. Bought reman injector form Bullet Proof Diesel. Installed using your video. Completed this morning and after about 10 seconds of cranking it fired up and is running very smooth. Power balance test looks great. No new codes.
I been having my 6.0 for about a year now. Ron you have been very hopeful with this truck of mine. I watch a lot of yours videos until I seen the one with your son. I was definitely hurt by the news. Honest I was in shock like we have met before. You are the GOAT of these ford 6.0’s. The way you describe your videos, I can imagine how great of a father/husband you were. Thanks for everything. You know…….I can only imagine the quality father and husband Ron must have been. I mean think about it. He’s the best brother to all of us that we ever could’ve asked God for. There wasn’t a selfish bone in Ron NOWHERE !!! He shared his wisdom, experience, and knowledge to such a degree that it has been blessing us even after his passing. I could only imagine what it would have been like to have been friends with him while he was here. I pray all is well with his family.

I went into the videos section and was so sad while at work to hear of the news and that it had happened some time ago. You're videos will live on and help up and coming mechanics like myself get better.
Rip. I think ron has to be the most helpful 6.0l guy. Ive learned so much watching ron. I cut down a punch for my 12mm. Works perfect. Now i can put a socket on it and torque the stand pipes and dummy plugs to 60ftlbs.

I had much different symptoms than that. I pulled the P0266 code for contribution of cylinder 2. I was puffing black smoke in all conditions and could feel the miss. I was a bit intimidated when I began taking things apart to change the injector. by the time I was finished, I was glad I did it myself and will do any other work myself as well.
I've tried hotshot and rev-x I've had better luck with rev-x. They really help if its sticking from varnish not wear. If you lacked maintenance on your fuel filters and the pressure dropped then the fuel cavity is only partially full. That causes less resistance and the oil side will beat that plunger into the injector. Fuel pressure is critical. I've seen brand new injectors fail in 200 miles due to low pressure UNDER A LOAD NOT AT IDLE.
Ford Should be ashamed to sell a truck with so many issues.. I got suckered into a 06 6.0 and regret it everyday for spending over 50k for it. Ron God Bless You for your Kind words of wisdom.

I used a 12mm head bolt nut and washer in between to tighten the fuel rail plug. I put a 12mm socket on the nut and ran it all the way down the bolt until it bottomed out and the bolt head tightened the plug. After the initial prime and start, the truck would crank for up to 15 seconds before starting after sitting for short periods of time. Apparently this is normal after pulling the high pressure oil rail. I merged the truck onto the highway at full throttle up to 110km/hr 5 times to clear the air from the oil rail. It fires up in under 2 seconds now.

I'm happy, mine starts within 3 seconds but is a bit jerky as I start rolling until the engine gets to top temperature. My fuel mileage is great. I enjoyed this video.

Condolences to Rons family. I have a 05 f350Ford. Runs great, but sometimes when i park it, it wont start back up. I have to wait 30 minutes, and then starts up perfectly. Its been in the shop several times. Any suggestions?
YOU DONE A PERFECT JOB. OTHER THAN,I USE BLUE LOCKTITE ON THE INJECTOR BOLTS. THE REASON IS WHEN YOU HAVE A PROGRAMMER INSTALLED, IT RAISES THE PRESURE. I ALLWAYS TORQUE THE INJECTER BOLTS BUT I HAVE HAD SOME COME LOSE.THATS WHAT THE LOCKTITE IS FOR. THE NEXT THING IS ON THE INJECTOR PLUG IN THE HEAD. A PRESURE REGULATOR SLEEVE OUT OF A GM 4L80 TRANSMISSION WORK BETTER THAN THE TOOL MADE FOR THE JOB. AND MOST TRANS SHOPS WILL GIVE YOU ONE. ILL SEND SNAP-ON BY SO YOU CAN GET THE RIGHT TOOL. LOL

I have a 2006 Ford F250, and I have a problem that I do not know what to do anymore. When it accelerated hard or is traveling for a while and brake, the engine starts to fail, like an injector. But then I move and it is removed and returns to normal. However, when I turn it on it works perfect. I hope you can help me or give me some idea of what it could be. Ron I have a early 04 we did 8 injectors hpop, oil cooler, egr delete, and a ficm when we got it started ran for little bit until it hydrolocked tore back down found injectors were loose retorqued them going to remove glow plugs to remove any fluid do you have any other suggestions I should look for other than the injectors before i start it
Hi ron i have a question .i have a 2003 ford 6.0 diesel truck ,i was changed the fuel filter went i was take out the filter one little piece of the filter holder broke off and fall off inside the line i try to use a vaccum to take out but no good luck 1 month later i was trying to go to work but my truck never turn on again do you think the piece went inside one of the fuel injector
Ron, I am currently installing the Bullet Proof egr cooler and their oil to air cooler. I have 3 bad injectors and wanted to know if you recommend replacing the injectors while the intake manifold is off or should I install if before starting the injectors. Your thoughts and advice would be much appreciated. Craig
Clearly this is 8 years too late, but if you have an older 6.0l that hasn't been bulletproofed I would do the STC while you are in there and the injectors unless they are under 50k. Once all that is done the odds you are pulling the turbo and going all the way back to the injectors is pretty slim.
Mr. Ron, i just replaced all eight of my injectors, the HPOP with new IPR, and ICP. I also installed a regulated fuel return system. it took a few minutes of cranking to start, but she did start. but she runs rough and she has a bad lope. i let it run for about 30 min to let the system purge the air out, but it did not improve the idle, or how she ran. when i shut her down, it takes a minute of cranking for her to start. the oil must be leaking back into the pan because there is no oil pressure unless i crank for a while. any thoughts? is it possible its a bad HPOP? i am getting a P0272 code, but i cant imagine that is what is causing the long crank to start or the hard idle.?
Hi Ron. I have a question for you. My early 03-04 6.0l power stroke had all new injectors put in it, and it ran fine until a few months later. It runs fine until after I hit the accelerator, then it sounds spotty and shakes for a few minutes(1-2) then it runs normal again.

How would you do the passenger side on a 06 Ford F-350 with a 6 l engine
Condolences to Rons family. I have a 05 f350Ford. Runs great, but sometimes when i park it, it wont start back up. I have to wait 30 minutes, and then starts up perfectly. Its been in the shop several times. Any suggestions?

YOU DONE A PERFECT JOB. OTHER THAN,I USE BLUE LOCKTITE ON THE INJECTOR BOLTS. THE REASON IS WHEN YOU HAVE A PROGRAMMER INSTALLED, IT RAISES THE PRESURE. I ALLWAYS TORQUE THE INJECTER BOLTS BUT I HAVE HAD SOME COME LOSE.THATS WHAT THE LOCKTITE IS FOR. THE NEXT THING IS ON THE INJECTOR PLUG IN THE HEAD. A PRESURE REGULATOR SLEEVE OUT OF A GM 4L80 TRANSMISSION WORK BETTER THAN THE TOOL MADE FOR THE JOB. AND MOST TRANS SHOPS WILL GIVE YOU ONE. ILL SEND SNAP-ON BY SO YOU CAN GET THE RIGHT TOOL. LOL
Hello my name is Luis. I love their videos and although I do not understand English very much it has helped me a lot. I have a 2006 Ford F250, and I have a problem that I do not know what to do anymore. When it accelerated hard or is traveling for a while and brake, the engine starts to fail, like an injector. But then I move and it is removed and returns to normal. However, when I turn it on it works perfect. I hope you can help me or give me some idea of what it could be. Ron I have a early 04 we did 8 injectors hpop, oil cooler, egr delete, and a ficm when we got it started ran for little bit until it hydrolocked tore back down found injectors were loose retorqued them going to remove glow plugs to remove any fluid do you have any other suggestions I should look for other than the injectors before i start it

Hi ron i have a question .i have a 2003 ford 6.0 diesel truck ,i was changed the fuel filter went i was take out the filter one little piece of the filter holder broke off and fall off inside the line i try to use a vaccum to take out but no good luck 1 month later i was trying to go to work but my truck never turn on again do you think the piece went inside one of the fuel injector

Ron, I am currently installing the Bullet Proof egr cooler and their oil to air cooler. I have 3 bad injectors and wanted to know if you recommend replacing the injectors while the intake manifold is off or should I install if before starting the injectors. Your thoughts and advice would be much appreciated. Craig
Clearly this is 8 years too late, but if you have an older 6.0l that hasn't been bulletproofed I would do the STC while you are in there and the injectors unless they are under 50k.
Once all that is done the odds you are pulling the turbo and going all the way back to the injectors is pretty slim.

Mr. Ron, i just replaced all eight of my injectors, the HPOP with new IPR, and ICP. I also installed a regulated fuel return system. it took a few minutes of cranking to start, but she did start. but she runs rough and she has a bad lope. i let it run for about 30 min to let the system purge the air out, but it did not improve the idle, or how she ran. when i shut her down, it takes a minute of cranking for her to start. the oil must be leaking back into the pan because there is no oil pressure unless i crank for a while. any thoughts? is it possible its a bad HPOP? i am getting a P0272 code, but i cant imagine that is what is causing the long crank to start or the hard idle.?

Note for the non-mechanics out there. At about 4:50 through 6:30 the square vs Allen thing he removes from the fuel rail is called Stand pipes.

Hi Ron. I have a question for you. My early 03-04 6.0l power stroke had all new injectors put in it, and it ran fine until a few months later. It runs fine until after I hit the accelerator, then it sounds spotty and shakes for a few minutes(1-2) then it runs normal again.
