Honestly, for real estate, I'd be looking at the DJI MINI 2 or DJI MINI 3 PRO and not an FPV drone. You can get FPV drones to fly slow, but it takes years of practice by the pilot to hold them steady.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I own those two drones. I should of mentioned, I’m looking for indoors flight, I’ve used the Avata indoors for commercial buildings, great video but need something smaller for indoors of homes with 4K quality. FYI I also tried your gmail account and it didn’t work.
@@RCPilotHangar The Avata has a beginner mode (normal and sport). Normal works indoors. For the RC FPV hobby there are no beginner modes, but only ACRO mode which is similar to the DJI manual mode. This is interesting to me. I’ve been looking at kits to build my own quad, but this appeals to me if I decide to go with the dji goggles. I’ve ordered an Express LRS controller. What I’m wondering is if the Commando 8 ELRS model of this drone is compatible with the controller that I’ll be using. I guess I’m also just wondering generally if there different ELRS 2.4 GHz protocols. When I ordered the controller I thought it was going to work with a lot of systems but now I’m wondering if I’ll need to add modules for different drones.
2.4 ELRS is the most common and popular and every ELRS radio that is 2.4 will work with the receivers. The only stipulation is that the firmware on the radio and the receiver must be compatibe, so if you are running version 3 on the radio, you also need version 3 on the receiver.
Hi Captain! Great video...forgive me, will this work with the goggles and controller I have for the DJI FPV? The DJI Goggles V2 and the DJI controller 2? Many thanks indeed! 💕💕
It all depends on your wallet. The Aquilla16 is designed for first timers touching an FPV drone. The CETUS PRO is also for beginners (the CETUS, not the Pro is less expensive with brushed motors). But the Aquilla16 is the overall easiest to fly.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 In this topic I have not much knowledge, so big thanks for the pro instruction :). I thought, DJI Mini 3 is also rather fast drone (maybe about 40% slower but still fast enough to produce nasty crash) and still its camera can be adjusted straight to the bottom. But you are absolutely right, switching cameras at 100 km/h could be difficult, if you wouldn't just keep the position and then switch a view :). Or maybe the FPV and default drone could be compared in the same manner, as normal traffic and rally, where each of the grams counts. Weight impacts the battery. Best regards and have fun with that cute drone :)
Great review and thanks for making such a detailed video! Would you say the iFlight Defender 25 is a better choice for strictly interior (real estate) flights than the GepRC Cinelog 25 v2?
For interior you'd have to be an amazing pilot to fly such large drones. For indoors most people stick with 1.5" or 2" FPV drones, and the odd 2.5", but rarely every a 3" drone, simple due to the amount of power in such a confined space (you gonna mark up them walls & ceiling really bad).
Thanks for the info! Sounds like the Defender 16 or Cinelog 20 may fit my needs a bit better. Would you recommend one over the other for interior-only flights?
Kindly inform me whether the Home point is visible during Goggles flight. Given the absence of GPS, it remains uncertain if this feature is accessible. Additionally, could you confirm the accuracy of the information stating that it cannot operate beyond a distance of 200 meters?
If there is no GPS module on the drone then there is no home point shown in your goggles. Where did you hear of this 200 meter range? That would certainly be very incorrect.
Neat little drone. Would be good as a winter play around the house and goofing off outside. My only compliant is I don't see you putting any other camera on it.
The Defender 25 is Digital so that means it requires the DJI FPV goggles (V2 or Goggles 2). As for which radio you use it all depends on which receiver you order the drone with or install yourself. So NO… EMAX goggles won’t work and the radio won’t work either unless you installed a compatible receiver.
I would STRONGLY dissagree with this one been better than DJI Avata, unless you NEED that 250g limit. I fly 5” APEX HD on Kiss that I build. I fly also Avata. Avata flies like on rails indoor. Charging is like safe dream. Plug anywhere to USB C charger. Not even talking about safety of that batery, self discharging to safe levels, etc. For me it flies about 12+ minutes indoors (acro) and I land at 30% battery. It takes off, hovers and lands by itself if you wish. You can do hand take of/landing as I do (not touching ground in forest, dirt etc.. It has BRAKE button when it will stop when you mess up…. That button alone is pure gold for anyone learning. I would kill for that button when I started. I can now fly without problem, orbit, rolls… and I still love that option. I would be carefull to say anything with O3 has same quality as Avata. Avata camera is so vibration free on those rubber mounts. It has gimball you can adjust mid air. Yes you will use it. When I fly indoors I decrease angle and you see that angle in the googles while avata is hovering by itself… It has GPS return… Im 100% sure that Avata durability is faaaar superior to Defender. Its unbelievable durable. I will not start discussion about component quality…. And the best…. Same price
I think you may have watched another vid. This was not a “Defender 25 vs Avata video”. Anyone deeply in the FPV hobby and camera drone hobby knows the differences between the two, and I only pointed out a few in this vid so that people didn’t get confused and think it was another stupid clickbait video about every product is better than DJI video.
You are not the first to mention this. It seems that when my video was made, that was the newer version coming out. Versions previous did not have the lights underneath. Contact iFlight.
What are the default PID tune settings in Betaflight for the Defender 25??? I am looking everywhere for what the defaults are supposed to be... i think i might have lost the default config ta some point in testing... i flight still has yet to get back to me...
*"rapid prototyping"* is creating some absolutely amazing product in the pure BEV market at *INCREDIBLY NO LONG COSTLY PRICES* at the moment very much spot on with that to include imaging solutions and some really amazing bells and whistles now too absolutely true dat as well. Sad to see how these items are being used as an entirely new type of fighting War but one side effect is that this be the case turns off many to the drone market driving prices in some cases *MUCH* lower but also increasing quality and the fun factor to start creating a right proper and hopefully true as in real as good image for these now in Ukraine anyways *TRULY* literal killing machines. Be interesting to see how Artificial Intelligence starts to impact this market such that the item basically *"flies itself"* using preset cinematic modes which in theory anyways would create some truly amazing *"film"* (digital) product... especially as a kind of *"sport model"* too/as well/in addition/best just got better. Great review as always!
I mentioned in a previous video I have zero desire to buy the INSPIRE 3. I have a $12,000 INSPIRE 2 and I won't make that mistake again. Perhaps a make a video of this in the future.
Now I am curious, having purchased the FPV last year. I see on the the IFlight site you can specify 'no additional receiver, I use the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2" What if your local hobby shop doesn't stock this configuration, can you use the ELRS or do you need to order direct?
Hey Cap! New FPV enthusiast here! So two months ago i bought the avata, enjoyed the heck out of it. Long story short, loved the feeling of acro mode w/ the visual capability of what the avata offers...but i crashed it during a dive freefall due to that weird yaw tumble. What would you recommend to someone who wants a drone thats acro-capable but also has camera quality that could rival the avata without a go pro?
The Avata camera is the DJI O3 system which is available for any FPV drone. You can also buy such FPV drones from all the big name FPV companies (I believe I have reviewed pretty much all of them). Just watch any of my FPV drone reviews made in the past 5 months with drones with a DJI camera. Also watch my FPV FOR BEGINNERS EPISODE 12 video so you know how to set them up.
I have a 16yo that can fly my Mavik A2 & Mavik 3 pretty well however I’d like get him his own to do with what he chooses so I can get back to work with mine … What’s the price point ? You didn’t even give us a hint 🤔🤔🤔
Any FPV Drone on the market that has the DJI O3 system in it, along with a very high tech modern flight controller, is gonna be costly and you'll always be looking at prices in the $400 to $700 range. This one is in the $500 range.
I was advice by china seller saying there is plenty of report for people using the dji Google’s and remote 2 and have a very short range of signal, they advice using a separate receiver and not rely on the dji build in receiver. Is that true?
Not the goggles, but the DJI FPV remote (grey one) and the new DJI O3 unit have been known to have connection issues. There have been a large number of FIRMWARE updates for the O3 unit. I'm running the latest update and so far, no issues as long as the battery is charged up. If the battery becomes low, then there is insufficient power to keep a connection and there is a good chance of a disconnection.
Nice at under 250g but expensive considering its size and lack of flight time - I'm surprised its as expensive as it is given it has no avoidance etc, or kit with it for that matter. Camera is certainly nice image
So the larger DJI FPV drone claims to have obstacle avoidance, but it’s also much larger than most fpv drones. Definitely unlikely/unusual for smaller ones to have it 😅

If you have the skill to fly in this mode indoors then look for any NEW FPV drone with 2 inch props or less in Whoop Format that carry the DJI O3 system. Companies like FLYWOO, GEPRC, HGLRC should have them.
Great review I have one question do the DJI fpv goggles and controller work with this drone
That is what I used in the video
Sorry I had to watch it again to see them. It's my fault 😂 I love watching your reviews. Always good , honest and funny. Thank you for your patience. Stay warm
Your 4S normal battery appeared not to have a long enough battery lead to get CG balanced?
There is no CG in drones or RC Helicopters. The Flight Controller handles balance.
Very interesting, thanks Steve 👍😃
What goggles would you use? I already have a TBS controller.
You have two options.... DJI GOGGLES 2 or DJI GOGGLES VERSION 2
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you!
Great video sir. Does this quad have altitude hold? Thanks again
There is no altitude hold
Have you or your fans updated your defender to the new beta flight 4.4 or 4.5
Now that was a cool opening 😀
Good afternoon captain really nice view cool review
Can you test the toroidal propellers?
what receiver would work best indoor?
Indoors? They would all be the same.
So if you had a Ar Drone what would do to mod it or any one in the comments any recommendations
Yeah I still have original A.R 2 drone still in box new but don’t want it wifi n I’m sure camera and flight board outdated recommendations to upgrade maybe even motors I still like the style of it n want to keep
In angle mode it’s the same speed as in acro, tried it and that’s my findings. Love your shows.
It should be faster in ACRO mode than ANGLE due to the angle of forward tilt.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 agreed but in angle mode the camera is max tilt and the angle of forward motion is the same as acro and if u go anymore in acro it flips over. Try next time u fly and see what u think.
@@enlightened9538 I have not tried this quad head to head in speed while in different modes, but all other quads over many years of use are all much slower in Angle mode.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 yes I would agree for sure, but I feel this one is different. Hence me saying u should try and see what u think. But I’m not professional like your self, but would love your opinion if u do try. Thanks again for all your replies.
I really want to like this drone but the battery bothers me. How am I supposed to know if the lipo is swelling? Also to fix the prop guard you have to replace the whole bottom plate. I do love the flight time and flight characteristics, but the cons have me leaning towards the cinelog20. What do you think?
Are the included batteries more safe than traditional Lipo? Do they have smart features such as the DJI ones?
Nope, just your basic lipo batteries
Can you recommend an indoor drone that can be operated remotely over the internet? I am thinking it would be nice to be able to check on my house when I am out of town. A huge bonus would be if it could be told to land on a charging base - maybe that is asking too much.
See if you can get this: th-cam.com/video/Kk4HOGa257k/w-d-xo.html
Hi hello do you think we can use dji motion controller on it?
Sorry to easedrope ha but I was wondering what you think of the motion controller,on line it has been treated like a novlety but i think it could be really fun.
@@robertv1273 hello Robert I'm sorry I'm total new to it plus I'm below to elbow on my left side I never flying with other controller. all I can say its like flying a jet and its awesome
The DJI MOTION CONTROLLER is ONLY designed for the DJI FPV or DJI AVATA.
6:09 Why i don't need ELRS or TBS crossfire if have DJI FPV remote controller 2?
Because the DJI FPV REMOTE CONTROLLER 2 does not connect to CROSS FIRE or ELRS.
I am impressed with this little craft. Soon, once I get going on my next project I will be looking for an ariel camera like this.
Being a newbie I fully understand your advice on moving slow with the various flight actions. Outdoors only for my needs anyhow.
Thanks for your video work, keep them coming.
The thing that will make me Love it is 8 minute or greater flight time indoors with good penetration through multiple walls and floors
Is this the same speed in all modes including angle? Plus is it quieter than the avatar
Speeds depend on angle of attack, so ACRO mode is the fastest speed and ANGLE mode would be the slowest.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 how fast do u think it is in angle mode please?
@@enlightened9538 No idea
This looks great I think k I'd rather have this then the AVATA!! Pretty quick too! Steve I just got the cinilog 35 performance 6s....it amazing. Thanks for the STICKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR WIFE ROCKS!!!! SO DO U....
Awesome! Glad the stickers arrived.
Keep up the great work! I have been very happy with my purchases!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Awesome. Thanks !
Nice review Steve. Kind of neat it can be below the 250 gram......👍
Yup, that is a hugh benefit
Hi Captain! Great video...forgive me, will this work with the goggles and controller I have for the DJI FPV? The DJI Goggles V2 and the DJI controller 2? Many thanks indeed! 💕💕
Yes
Very good informative and interesting video! Thank you!
Does it have optical flow or some sort of altitude hold feature like some do?
Nope, it is a true FPV drone so no beginner assistance is included.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 can you recommend something that does have training wheels?
@@PureBloodWNCThe only FPV drones I can think of would be the BETAFPV CETUS or AQUILLA16 (both come in a kit designed for beginners).
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 can you make a recommendation between the two?
It all depends on your wallet. The Aquilla16 is designed for first timers touching an FPV drone. The CETUS PRO is also for beginners (the CETUS, not the Pro is less expensive with brushed motors). But the Aquilla16 is the overall easiest to fly.
Amazing video!!! How many minutes do you get with the 1100mAh?
Would the sub 1 ghz ELRS receiver option help with flying in places with lots of interference?
Yes, it would be better than the basic DJI comms.
There's two new Defender.
Denfender 16 and Defender 20
Would love to see a review from your channel 😁
Hello and thank you for the review!
Is this drone able to set the cam angle straight to the bottom (90 degree to the floor)?
Best regards 🎉
Nope. It would be impossible to fly FPV if you did that. You’d be staring at the ground and crash into something.
Can you use the DJI controller 2 and goggles v2? This will be the deciding factor for me
Yes, watch my video entitled: CAPTAIN DRONE FPV FOR BEGINNERS EPISODE 12
Hey man great video and review looks the part was wondering wether you can install a go pro 11 on top?
GoPro would not be needed which is why there is no mount for it on such a drone.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 ok mate why would it not be needed? Camera quality good enough? I know a lot of people like to fly with it?
Will DJI v2 goggles and DJI mode to control work with this drone?
Yes. Watch my video entitled: FPV FOR BEGINNERS EPISODE 12
Did you add the LED strip under It? Mine doesn’t have that. 😢
That is how mine came. A few viewers have mentioned they had the early version with no LED strip.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 awesome!!! Looks really cool. Maybe I should have waited a couple weeks to get one. 😂😂😂
Nice set up
You never mentioned how noisy it was. Is quieter than the Avata?
Everything on the planet is quieter than the AVATA, so yes :-)
Do any drones allow you to throw them in the air and then start the rotors and fly away. I think that would be a fantastic feature. André in Sydney
Yeah, set to horizon mode - toss - arm.
Drone should self-right and hover in place.
Quick question Captain, is there an HD module for analog goggles to connect to the Defender or it only works with the DJI goggles?
If you want the DJI O3 Air unit in the drone, then it only connects to the expensive DJI FPV goggles
Neat little drone. Would be good as a winter play around the house and goofing off outside. My only compliant is I don't see you putting any other camera on it.
No need for an external camera due to the high quality DJI O3 system built in.
has a mount for a gopro naked you can just feed off a standard 4s balance port adapter. the o3 air unit is all you need anyway
can I connect the emax transporter 2 googles and the Emax e8 transmitter to this and if yes do I need to use beta flight or something
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 ok thankyou
Hey Steve, any chance you might go deeper into FPV and review the new HDZero goggle free style system.
You never know, I could add those to my long list of items to checkout & review.
When I fly indoors I decrease angle and you see that angle in the googles while avata is hovering by itself…
It has GPS return…
Im 100% sure that Avata durability is faaaar superior to Defender. Its unbelievable durable.
I will not start discussion about component quality….
And the best…. Same price
I think you may have watched another vid. This was not a “Defender 25 vs Avata video”. Anyone deeply in the FPV hobby and camera drone hobby knows the differences between the two, and I only pointed out a few in this vid so that people didn’t get confused and think it was another stupid clickbait video about every product is better than DJI video.
hi Cap,i just got Defender 25 2 weeks ago with no underneath lights? is empty plug under camera for lighting?
You are not the first to mention this. It seems that when my video was made, that was the newer version coming out. Versions previous did not have the lights underneath. Contact iFlight.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks Cap’
What are the default PID tune settings in Betaflight for the Defender 25??? I am looking everywhere for what the defaults are supposed to be... i think i might have lost the default config ta some point in testing... i flight still has yet to get back to me...
if i could even get a screenshot or something linked that would be amazing! I just wanna get the settings back to stock :/
Iflight did eventually get back to me about this. They have a copy of the default settings they sent me.
dji avata "mini" under 250g... coming to your nearest dji stores soon... 😉
If DJI could make an UNDER 250 GRAM FPV drone, that would be awesome!
if I select TBS crossfire could I then connect both controllers to it?
Only one controller can controller an FPV drone at any one time.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 sure. but can I still use the dji controller if the crossfire is installed?
@@thegentlestories214 No. if a crossfire receiver has been installed then it is connected to the flight controller and not the DJI O3 receiver.
Can the camera be tilted?
There is no camera
Nice job once again
THis is so amazing keep it up!
Awesome review !
Dying to see this thing finally it's here love to see more big stuff like rumors about inspire 3 wants your views on that
I mentioned in a previous video I have zero desire to buy the INSPIRE 3. I have a $12,000 INSPIRE 2 and I won't make that mistake again. Perhaps a make a video of this in the future.
How loud is it compared to the Avata?
About half as loud
Now I am curious, having purchased the FPV last year. I see on the the IFlight site you can specify 'no additional receiver, I use the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2" What if your local hobby shop doesn't stock this configuration, can you use the ELRS or do you need to order direct?
Watch my video entitled CAPTAIN DRONE FPV FOR BEGINNERS EP 12.
Found how to now so all good, thanks.
I’m really tempted to get this lol so have the Protek 35 digital 6s but I barely fly it 😅
that is typically what the digital antennas look like inside the plastic, so they decased it to fit inside the frame, clever.
I have a 16yo that can fly my Mavik A2 & Mavik 3 pretty well however I’d like get him his own to do with what he chooses so I can get back to work with mine …
What’s the price point ? You didn’t even give us a hint
🤔🤔🤔
Hello! Is this a custom led stripe in there or it was installed by iflight? Thanks for your review :-)
It comes like that out of the box. This is the newest model.
can i strap a go pro on this? 🤔
Yes
Nice at under 250g but expensive considering its size and lack of flight time - I'm surprised its as expensive as it is given it has no avoidance etc, or kit with it for that matter. Camera is certainly nice image
FPV drones have no avoidance. The price is due to the DJI 03 Camera/recording/transmission system. Adds an extra $200 to the price.
So the larger DJI FPV drone claims to have obstacle avoidance, but it’s also much larger than most fpv drones. Definitely unlikely/unusual for smaller ones to have it 😅
is it still sub-250g with the 900mah battery?
All batteries have different weights so I can't confirm
A nice giveaway for 2023. Keep smiling
