He did do a phenomenal job, his rocking side to side is actually a way of soothing himself in situations where he is normally uncomfortable in, my son does the same thing ❤️

That was beautiful. He was obviously nervous but he did a lot better than a lot of Best Man speeches. He’d practiced for that. Jonah, Maddie, Leo and Clair have a great brother.

Same here, I hate even being in small groups, I tip my hat off to the guy. I wasn't even able to do speeches in front of class as a kid, would choke up to the point I couldn't talk/ breathe properly, or I'd get that overwhelmed I'd start crying. Could tell his pride for his brother over powered the anxiety
@@marccrockett7645 It's not so easy raising an Autistic kid. I at times have to remind myself that his inability to be able to do some house chores aren't his doing but the condition is responsible for this.

@@tjkay1469 If you must know, there are some Autistic children that aren't as excited as other children. By this I mean that chores that ordinarily would excite other children (which is expected of any child of this age) would not have such effects on him.

This brought me to tears. I had a brother Ricky (R.I.P.) that NEVER treated me as being different due to my having Polio. He was my strength. He taught me that if I thought of myself as handicapped I would be crippling myself more than the Polio ever had. Your brother sounds like my brother.

Hello! Sister to an autistic brother here. I work with special needs adults all the time and they rarely seem to have trouble comprehending jokes. They do, however, struggle with social cues. Just wanted to clear that up, have a nice day!

My parents passed away over 40 years ago, I'm 61, I really miss them so much, I talk to them every day and I can still hear them say, be your sweet self, my mom would say, and stop being so hardheaded , your doing it the hard way and slow down, my dad would say, he had a smile and a twinkle in his eyes that showed me he loved me. They taught my brothers and sisters , 9 of us, to clean , ( spotless clean ). All of us had respect for our parents, my mom is an angel , my dad had a big heart but didn't show his soft side very much, but I saw it a lot. They always said to eat all your food, and to get along with everyone. I'm a cleaning lady and I love my job, and I'm great at it, and I'm still the sweet person they taught me to be, thanks mom and dad . 🤗💕💕

Why? Just because he is autistic? I am autistic. The vast majority of us are more than capable of doing stuff like this. There's no reason to be anymore proud just because they are autistic. This is so ableist and it infantlizes us.

My Son has Autism too. Seeing their confidence grow is one of the most incredible things. My Son used to not even be able to speak to another child, and while he still hasn't got friends in school, he has overcome a lot and can now make "small talk" with them. Huge congrats to this young man, being so brave and overcoming his struggles and anxiety 💜💜
Teach him how to play chess, If the kid likes it, he should improve by himself growing his convidence. And its another way to learn how to communicate with others people of all kinds and languages. It will also improve his concentration and the results he will get at school.

As someone autistic I feel so full watching this, i also saw in his hand that he was anxious and trembling tremendously but he kept going even when ppl started clapping wich can be really difficult for an autistic person cuz some are really sensitive to sound (i am ).I am proud of you !!
My son is 23 and has autism. He’s on the higher functioning side of the spectrum, like this young man. This fact that he can do this is amazing. My son was 20 before he told me he loved me without me saying it first. So the fact that he is able to stand up in front of people and say this, shows how amazing he is

My grandson is 5 and has autism and we are thinking he is on the higher end of the spectrum as well! He doesn’t put words together as of yet but he does have a big vocabulary! His mother and of course I can’t wait til he says those three precious words that many throw around carelessly!

I heard that theory but in my case, everyone saw something different on my son since he was months old. So... It's a no for me.

@@ldlink3935 no it doesn't, he was offering a compliment that shows his approval, that he gets along well with her. That she seems to understand him and accept him, which is surely important to the brother. Sometimes, some autistic people feel like they need to try and "mask" when they're around strangers to fit in, but this was a way of saying that she is a person he can exist comfortably around and be himself. With my experience, people with autism are some of the most genuine in their words, and I think he was saying everything in the kindest, more heartfelt way possible to honor his brother's day. There were no other intentions behind his words

@VVoOꟻF It's hard to say. Clapping and cheering I can manage but if I'm outside and a motorcycle starts up near me or loud music coming from a car I get a little perturbed. When you're autistic the older you get, the less of an effect loud noises have on you. Bring ina crowded environment is still hard though

My son is also quite terrified of babies and toddlers because he associates them with crying. If he sees someone crying, he says himself that it starts a “chain reaction” and he just can’t help but cry himself. He gets so distressed when it happens. I hope this is also something that he can learn to cope with as he gets older. 😊

I have a sister with a mental illness. She can't move neither talk. This video brought me in tears because I imagined my sister saying those things to me in my wedding. Such a beautiful video

As someone who is autistic, this is just awesome. For him to say to her that he loves her and that she brings in peace is one of the biggest compliments/signs of affection that somebody with autism can give you because of how hard it is for us to open up and express that. Absolutely amazing speech he composed himself despite his visible anxiety. And you can tell that when he said that she brought peace to him that his older brother knew what that meant. And that's important. And she knows what it meant to because she started crying cuz she understands that it's not easy. People don't treat us very normally so when we have to get up and do things like this we are putting ourselves in a position we would never really want to be in and it is extremely hard and nerve-wracking.

I lost my big brother to Covid last year, so this made me cry easily, everytime you get a chance, if you have a brother, tell him/her you love them, i miss him everyday
You can see Jonah's love for his brother in his face. That love is a true gift for both of them as well as their friends and family.

@@daveduck4315 most people, with or without Autism, don't bring anything to society, just a handful of scientists, maybe couple of surgeons do, etc. Both me and you probably wont contribute in any way as well, so I suggest rethinking about reality a bit more before typing.

@@daveduck4315 Speaking in front of hundreds of people is a big accomplishment and most people could not do it. At least admire the kids guts. I would love to see you do get on stage and do something better than this kid, otherwise your opinion does not matter.

Watching this makes me feel proud as I’m autistic and did a speech for my mum and stepdad’s wedding and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room and I can’t be any prouder of myself for it, I was crying after as I needed a moment to myself
Bless you. Well done. Any speech is hard for most people but you overcame any fears to do what am I sure was a great speech to those you love. Stay well and stay safe. And thank you for sharing your story.
