OMG that trick with the really fast attack and release on the wa76.... I've tried it before and hadn't really thought much about it but now that you explain it that way IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE! I've been looking for that sound for a while now but it went right past under my nose! Total paradigm shift for me man, THANK YOU!
Another great tutorial!! I have a drummer coming in this week to my basement studio, to lay down drum tracks to pre-recorded music and click track. While I would be glad to spend hours and hours of mic placement experimenting, it's a paid session, so I have to get sounds quickly. This video gives me some great ideas, and I will likely throw up 3 different room mics, and hope that come mix time that at least one of the 3 will blend into the close mics, Thanks again!

This is the greatest video to ever be uploaded to TH-cam. Those rooms are so butter

This was great man, cheers!
Very informative. I felt the stereo image on the blumlein was off axis although sounded smooth
Yes,bit off axes, still sounding good. What bothers me personally,is swapped perspective of OHs and blumlein
those warm comps are awsome. I love what warm audio is doing! definately need a pair of wa's! the La's look sweet too! have you tried them yet?
Me too! I haven't tried the WA2A yet. It's on the list though.
All I can say is thank you!
"Just close mics, no rooms" - Already sounds insanely good hahaha
Dude, what ride cymbal is that? I don't care if it's cheap or expensive, I need one. It's perfect.
I believe that is a 22" Paiste 602 Modern Essential. It's fantastic!
Where can I get an adapter like this to have both mics on one stand?!
good drum sound! Are the sdc in omni or cardioid? Thanks!
Thanks! The SDC's are in cardioid.
Charlie, I really need recommendations on the best ribbon mics for under $125!!
Nady RSM-5 dude. Can't go wrong.
