My airline, Romanian flag-carrier TAROM has just received its first ATR 72-600, YR-ATJ!
On 19 February, TAROM officially took delivery of its first new ATR 72-600.
While the newer ATR 72-600 is largely the same as the old ATR 72-500 in terms of its external appearance, it has some important upgrades which make it a much more attractive option for airlines looking to upgrade their fleet.
The ATR 72-600 has newer, more efficient Pratt & Whitney engines, which ATR says allow the aircraft to outperform regional jets with 40% lower fuel use and 40% less CO2 emissions.
The ATR -600 series takes advantage of the latest innovations in the cockpit technology with simplified, integrated LCD advanced functions, enhancing safety, improved
handling for pilots, in addition to maintenance cost savings and weight reduction.
New technological innovations are being incorporated in the ATR-600 series to enhance further the feeling of space, comfort and the pleasure of flying. The ATR 72-600 benefits from the widest cabin in the turboprop market, with the new Armonia cabin, new ergonomic design
for greater comfort, new seats and wider overhead bins with 30% more roller bags stowage.
