I have never met a casual horsemen who sepnt even 10 minutes watch horses in a herd. Everything you need to know about communicating with a horse is RIGHT there in the herd.
Hi Ryan, I am new to your videos and am watching them with a vengeance. This video where you made it his idea to put his head down by holding it up. I figured I would give it a try. Tarzan puts his head up when I'm trying to apply fly wipe on his face with a towel like a giraffe eating leaves. Honestly, it took under 5 minutes for him to comply and keep his head down using your technique. Thank you!! I also used your technique of changing directions on the ground. He had a confused look at first, but wow!!! So smooth!! I think he's way happier.
👏🏻👏🏻, good video for educational purposes, homeschooling mom 🙋🏼♀️. The way you teach lead change I’ve always done it that way because it felt right but the way you explain it helps.
What this is, is "opening the gate" a lighter form of riding. As we watch Ryan work. If he would dramatically lower his lead hand and raise the "stick" hand you open the new door and close the old one. Rather than pressure on/off you eventually get to where all you are doing is inviting your horse to join you in a new direction...by "opening the gate"
By the time a horse is 1 year old, they know EVERYTHING you would ever want to ask of them. All people have to do is learn how to ask. SUrrender your demands to learning how to ask.

100% going to use the L shaped change of directions. Can't believe I thought I had to make them stumble around and trip just to turn.
