  • Backed by popular demand, we revisit Muse... BUT LIVE!
    ‪@muse‬ are an English rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, formed in 1994. The band consists of Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme, and Dominic Howard. Muse released their debut album, Showbiz, in 1999, showcasing Bellamy's falsetto and a melancholic alternative rock style.

    Make no mistake Musers are all around in the shadows and in plain sight. The band is just so unbelievably talented and hearing them live is an experience most will agree will change your life. I saw them live and every moment was breathtaking especially Reapers live the solo was perfect and seeing everyone pump their fist in the air for the solo of Uprising felt like I was in an army.

      Yeah! I saw them 4 times I think and every time just got better than the previous one! Their music might not be your cup of tea but it's undeniable that they are one of the best live musicians of our era if not all time. Sadly out of the two concert they did in Montreal they didn't play Reapers at the one I attended! I expected it so much!! (But I guess I can't complain since they played Citizen Erased haha)

    So Morgan Nichols is the guy in the back next to the drummer. He used to be their touring musician for like a decade. He plays the keyboards, synths, provides additional backing vocals, plays any additional instruments that they need live. Muse asked him if he wanted to officially be the 4th band member a long time ago and he declined because he likes having the freedom to tour with them in that role but them being able to do his own solo thing when they're not touring. He always requested to be placed in the back of the stage because he didn't want the attention. Muse isn't trying to hide him, he just didn't want to be highlighted.

    The end part where they riff turns in to their later song Psycho. This was made a lot earlier than Psycho came out. Muse is amazingly phenomenal in concert and the only band I've seen live multiple times. Between the musicianship, the sound, the performance, and their care that their fans are happy are what add so much to the experience. On their newer The Will of the People, they try the heavier double base sound, as in Won't Stand Down and Kill or Be Killed, which Chris I guess had to learn how to do in order to play these songs. Btw, you said "euphoria" towards the end of your video. They have a song Euphoria, you might check out. Actually, check out all their albums!! They have a lot of variety and innovation in their work.

      Having watched the live DVD of this show SO many times when I was younger, I'm absolutely baffled that I'd never picked up on Psycho being played a solid 7/8 years before the Drones album came out.

    • @raisiqueirapinheiro3962
      @raisiqueirapinheiro3962 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Small correction: it was Dom (drummer, Chris is the bassist) who had to (well, mostly) learn double kick, since he had already used it on Dead Inside, from Drones, although to a much smaller extent than he does in Will of the People.

      By the way, I think the music is the group that is Muse's outlet for a lot of (edit. very) heavy subjects that they think about a lot.

    Matt is amazing at singing while playing because he will play his voice and his guitar off eachother live. If he wants to give something extra on a vocal part, he'll give space on his guitar (differently from the album).
    And vice versa, if he wants to improvise a guitar part, he'll omit even as little as a half a breath.
    He'll also change guitar tabs for songs to make playing and singing easier, the best example would he Knight of Cydonia. The guitar part is changed to make it easier to perform while singing, but he makes it fit, and some people don't even notice.
    The best thing about Muse though, and I have seen em 47 times... If Matt seems to make a mistake vocally, he'll compensate with some extra guitar part (and vise versa) and it makes the performances unique every time.

    • @PedroMiguel-qd5mo
      @PedroMiguel-qd5mo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right. U can relate that in songs like Knights Of Cydonia, Dead Star, Stockholm Syndrome, Supermassive Black Hole and so many others were he is improvising a lot. He gives the guitar the stage it needs. He is the energy of his guitars and his guitars are screaming his everytime soul.

  • @michaelbriefs9764
    @michaelbriefs9764 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Guys, the extra 3 minutes they add at the end is just standard live Muse FACE MELTING. At this point, they had been playing this kind of stuff since the late ‘90s, so they knew the moves. But for the people at this concert, as in any Muse concert, this is all a part of the quickening, the transcending, the euphoria of Muse live. They are legend!

  • @azenar1894
    @azenar1894 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    So at 19:55 the solo that Matt does actually became another song that they made later on called Psycho on the album Drones. A couple of their later songs actually were based on riffs that they would use for solos, Kill or Be Killed started out the same way as a one off riff they used at a show once

    Not a music expert here, can't even play instruments so I can only use my heart to feel music. I once listened to Map Of The Problematique and my heart said "You gotta listen to Muse more and more"
    Stockholme Syndrome... oh my Lord. What a mf banger! Right from the riff, to the drum to the bassline to the keys (and there's also synth right?) All are Insane! And yes... that 'boom boom' by Chris at the beginning before he runs his fingers... that makes my heart jumps for joy! Dom on the drum is electrifying and it's one of Matt's best riffs.
    I love watching their live show videos and feel they've been consistent to be great on live stage for decades. Wish to see them live even just for once before I die because I believe the experience will worth whatever money I give them.

    Been loving the reactions to Muse... You are spot on about these guys being underrated in the U.S. I have seen Muse play live 5 times now, 4 in the states and 1 in Rome and the European fans were absolutely nuts compared to here. All 3 members are masters of their crafts and not many bands out there right now can compete with their live shows. The lead singer, Matt Bellamy, is a genius musician and is a MASTER guitarist, pianist and singer.
    My top 3 recommendations I'd love to see you guys react to are:

    Muse fairly often add extra riffs/endings that are sometimes medleys of famous songs. This one in particular, the second riff he plays while kneeling down they did for years at the end of Stockholm Syndrome, but on their Drones album they actually made it into a song, Psycho. Seen them live twice now, and there's always at least a few added riffs to round off a song. They even started doing a cool drum and bass duet song (Munich Jam and Helsinki Jam) where both Dom (drums) and Chris (bass) go crazy.

These guys are extremely epic! First saw them in 2002 at Reading Festival. Citizen Erased when it's raining is biblical! Please check out that song - by far my favourite Muse track by a long mile. Nice vid!

    The riff at the end that you ask if it is part of the song, no - it isnt. It is a riff that Matt messed with for years, and then finally made into the song "Psycho", for the Drones album.

    I was there in 2010 on Bellamy's side, I am a little french lady coming from the west coast of France, I am disabled physically but I took this long travel for them, I was already a full Mue fan but after this show I became totally crazy for them, now I have 22 Muse concerts, I would have liked more but not so easy for me, You should try to watch the 2015 world show called Drones, it will blow your mind and soul, scenography is amazing, you have a mix between London, Paris, Berlin and choose the Reapers song, you will be exploded by the riff, they got a reward of the nest live show and a grammy award for the album Drones, please watch it it is on youtube

    I'm a huge "Muser" having now seen them live 11 times since 2009, including at Glastonbury in 2016 when they headlined. They just touch my soul. Other epic songs you'd love are Showbiz, Dead Star, Psycho, their huge anthem Knights of Cydonia and New Born to name just five! Thanks for the reaction and I hope you enjoy your first Muse gig, it will be epic, they all are! 👍😁🤘

    The transition into Take A Bow is absolutely amazing and goosebump inducing. The guy mentioned on keyboards is Morgan Nicholls. Played on tour for years until last album. Was asked to join and declined to focus on his own band.

    Muser's come here to watch other people experience what spirituality is for real for the first time.
    I'm a damn atheist and I feel like I'm ascending when I listen to them and I'm just here watching others getting lucky enough to experience the same thing.
    Muser's are incredibly loyal but kinda low-key in my experience. It's a very chill environment. I'm still a kind of young muser, cus I've been with them since 09 but they dug a permanent spot in my heart immediately. It's the only band I can safely say is a permanent favourite band of mine. I'm all over the place with music otherwise, usually have songs here or there but not many favourite bands.. but Muse, man.. Muse is it's own experience, and it's impossible to not leave room for them at all times.
    There are so many things that I'm not a huge fan of in music, where Muse is the exception. I'm not a huge fan of slow songs, I'm not a huge pink floyd fan because i don't think enough is happening, same with Radiohead.. but with Muse.. man, there are so many good slow songs of theirs.. Some of them are at the top of my list.
    Muse makes me love cheesy love songs because they do it so well.. like what tha hell... they could do anything, and I would be there. I would follow them to hell and back if they asked me to.. and I can't say that about any other band I've listened to. They're special.. Muse is such a perfect name for them.

    I had the pleasure of being at this gig on the Saturday. The Saturday session was put on CD and the Sunday got the DVD treatment. It's up there with some of their best performances but I've been lucky enough to see them in various venues. My particular favourite was at the Stade De France a couple of years later.

    I was there. Truly an amazing amazing concert and one I will most definitely never forget! Got my 11th Muse show coming up in May next year and I for one can't wait!
    Personal highlight/recommendation for me: Hysteria live at the Brit Awards 2003. The band were just breaking into the British Mainstream - Absolution went to number 1 in the charts its first week on sale but they were actually overshadowed by another band called The Darkness. All the hype was on them but Muse went on stage and completely stole the show with 3.5 minutes of sheer powerful rock. One to truly not be missed!

    This is by far my favorite Muse reaction video, and I saw quite a lot of them. Perfect combination of analysis, emotion and overall discussion. And you have only three Muse videos, you should do more. Please please do more! You should check out their early stuff, especially live. I would love if you react to "Micro Cuts" live from Hullabaloo (2001) or "Bliss" also live from Hullabaloo. Fans favorite stuff too.

    Hey guys great video! Muse definitely goes hard! Every album is different I’m sure there’s a song in all of them you would like. I recommend watching this whole live performance at Wembley it’s awesome and also the one at Rome Olympic stadium great shows. Matt’s voice is amazing he has one of the greatest range’s I’ve seen listen to Muscle Museum and the “solo” towards the end is his voice with some distortion!! Matt is also an amazing piano player I recommend listening to butterflies and hurricanes to see him in action live of course us always much better with this band. I’ll recommend some songs try to get a song from each album. Sunburn, new born, plug in baby, citizen erased, hysteria,assassin, knights of Cydonia, micro cuts (great vocals kinda operish) uprising, the resistance, madness, animals, liquid state(bass player sings this one), psycho( one of the outro riffs they played turned into this) reapers, the handler, the globalist, thought contagion, won’t stand down, ghosts( piano ballad)

    Not only can Matt sing and play guitar at this level, but you should hear him go nuts on a piano. He was classically trained. This isn't the version of the song on the album. All the stuff at the end is just them having fun jamming. They do it every show. At some point, Matt will have a guitar solo or two, and probably a few piano solos, as well.

    Also, the end riff turned into it's own song later on. It's called Psycho, came out in 2015
    You should keep making videos about them honestly, I'd recommend watching a live-version of Knights of Cydonia.. it's like a classic. They finish every concert with it.

    as others have said in the comments, i highly recommend you to check out butterflies and hurricanes from the same wembley show, it's just incredible. and about the riff at the end, no it's not part of the song, during shows they always do crazy riffs like this and they actually ended up using this one for their song called psycho in 2015.
    btw, they're touring in the us between february and april next year and tickets are already available!

    They awoke me. My goosebumps raise before I press play. I know they do pop as well and not all genres they explore or apply themselves to everyone's taste. But my Gods, to they do it so well!! I can't fault them. 3 talented people have written the sounds that will accompany me when I leave my body. If there is another world or simply an abyss after I outstay me welcome on earth, I will float away Singing for Absolution.
