    I’m not really understanding the “cringe” moments? It’s a part of the experience, they don’t give a fuck. Matt learned when he was younger that if he pulled an amp and a microphone close together and then played his guitar again at it it makes a distorted sound. He did it a lot in the earlier shows. Muse in their younger days trashed the stage, it was fun for em. Matt gets… a bit crazy I will admit. (He’s busted Dom’s head open (the drummer) ) People think his guitars get ruined when he throws them through the drums or into the air but in reality he simply goes through guitar necks like crazy while the bodies are made to be durable and not break.

    • @jackwatson2272
      @jackwatson2272 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I think they meant more that they cringe seeing instruments being thrown as musicians themselves

      I saw Matt talk about the broken guitar thing and he said the body of his guitars rarely break. It said it's normally just the necks that break and that he just replaces those. He said he thinks he's only ever actually broken like 4 guitars or so. So he says. Anyway, one of my great regrets is that I never saw Muse at their prime(which to me is the Muse in this video) live. Don't get me wrong, they still are good live, but that youthful energy they had back in the day was something else.

I think In the US most people know Uprising, Reapers, Madness & from the last album Pressure. What’s really cool is I’m in my 40s & my daughters are pre teens. So they’ve been listening to Muse since birth and said ok next tour we have to go see them. Damn good band .

      Glad to know that because in my country, they're underrated. But maybe it's for the better because let me feel they're exclusive for myself LOL!
      Recently I found some bands/artists in my country 'copied' their songs like Microcuts, Starlight, TIRO, even this Stockholm Syndrome without at least saying "Muse inspire us". That's sad.

    Alright...off this same album (since you were loving the bass line), you need to do Hysteria -- if for nothing else than the killer bass lead. It was THE song that got me into Muse. It was that one song that I heard something in a brand new band I had never heard of and immediately had to find out who they were, find all their music and I knew it was going to be amazing. I've only come across two other bands other than Muse that ever did that to me...Queen and Van Halen (yes I'm an old guy from the classic rock era).

I had to know who it was, keep in mind no satellite radio, so I pull over and call the radio station. Guy says it’s something new from Muse. The next morning I go to my local record store & couldn’t find Absolution, but bought Orgins instead. One of my all time favorite bands.

    I don't think Muse actually screams much, they seem to use distorted vocal effects on the lead and backing vocals from time to time, that helps him not lose his voice. Matt is still singing with a wide range which is impressive, and musicianship is great. Interesting that one of the breakdowns at the end is the main riff of their song "psycho" from their 2015 Album "Drones".

    The hold the Guinness World Record for most destruction of instruments on stage, but don't do it as much these days (custom kit now) Early on they were booked on a live kids Saturday morning show. Those kids are probably still in therapy ha ha.

    I've watched quite a lot of reaction videos and this is the first time i've ever heard anyone say stockholm at glasto as having cringe moments, this is peak Muse, its them at their best, full of energy just ripping it up destroying their instruments at the end of the setlist, not sure where the cringe comes from

    • @CodeNameReaction13
      @CodeNameReaction13  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We are musicians ourselves and we don’t like seeing instruments get destroyed cause we know how expensive they are.

    • @clarencethomas01
      @clarencethomas01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CodeNameReaction13 I definitely get that, ESPECIALLY if the performance doesn't warrant any kind of destruction. But they were headlining the Glastonbury festival, Muse was number one on the ticket. First time ever, the biggest festival in UK arguably.
      Also, when you're sponsored by instrument manufacturers you get so many instruments for free. And you learn how to be cost effective while breaking stuff, like using a dummy amp as you mentioned.
      Considering these factors and it was the last song of a headlining show in front of your home country I'd say it was tasteful. You think the doors, nirvana, jimi Hendrix and syd Barrett are cringey too? Lol, nah thanks for the vid though this was fun to watch

    I'm a new subscriber and iv just been flicking through your vids, I think you should react to The Prodigy, a lot of metal heads like their stuff. Firestarter or Breathe would be good starting points.

    Just to put it into context - They headlined a fucking Glastonbury festival. Who cares how many drum kits you have, how many amps you smash. You are effing HEADLINING SOLD OUT GLASTONBURY...

    Muse has an absolute library of insane live performances. Butterflies and Hurricanes at Wembley (HAARP album) is a masterpiece.
    Here’s the link th-cam.com/video/YDsLKEado_o/w-d-xo.html
    I’d listen to their regular album version first and then this rendition.

  • @Boabywankenobi

    Could make this part of your show but definitely worth listening to on your own time. Muse had a riff heavy run of singles around that 2003-2004 period. Dead Star, Stockholm Syndrome and Hysteria. And one video I’d suggest is worth a watch is Muse vs Rage Against the Machine Riff Battle at Vegoose. They were the final two bands on at the Vegoose 2007 festival in Vegas. Matt definitely held his own against Tom Morello! EDIT: got me to thinking, do you guys listen to Biffy Clyro? Would be interested in a reaction video to The Golden Rule if you’ve never heard it.
