What can you say? You've got a band that can legitimately play anything from an old fashion love song to swampy blues to butt-kickin' rock & roll to fun pop, with three legitimate lead vocalists to trade vocals and back each other up. These guys could do it all.
After finding out this song was sung by Hillary Duff, I'm so glad I missed that version!....nobody sounds like Three Dog Night and nobody can do a Three Dog Night song justice except the original members!
OMG! One evening when our parents were out to dinner with friends, my younger sister and I "choreographed" a dance together to this song (including, of course, the hand fish wiggles). We were probably 11 and 13 years old. We were so excited to perform our masterpiece for the whole group when they came back to the house for coffee and dessert. Years later, when we each had left home, Mom gave us a crystal frog 🐸 (Jeremiah the bullfrog from the song, naturally). She asked that no matter where we were in this world,, that we share custody of Jeremiah and hand him off to one another to take care of until we saw each other again. Always love some Three Dog Night!
@@kmb0687788 so glad you enjoyed it. My sis and I are in our 60s now and have been best friends since the 60s! It's a blast watching these reactions to great music isn't it?
Man I heard this song so much as a kid in the 70s. All of us kids in the family knew this song because of our parents and uncles and aunts. Such a fun song to sing along with. They had a lot of great hits
I think this was the number one song of the year by sales. Three great singers, backed by 4 guys who never needed help from any studio musicians like a lot of bands did in the day needed.
I'll admit I'm old as F. We sang this song in elementary school in the 70's in music class. I turned to metal music but I've always had the Dogs in my soul. Three amazing Lead singers I believe each one had number one songs with the Dogs.
Hi! If you were in Elementary School in the 70’s then you’re not that old! I was 12/13 when this came out( First year of high school)! So I’m DEFINITELY old! Lol!
When the song hit number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1971, Axton and his mother, Mae Axton, became the first mother and son to each have written a number one pop single in the rock era. Mae Axton co-wrote "Heartbreak Hotel", which was the first number one hit for Elvis Presley.
They started out very soulful and lightened up in later years, but were always great. If you’d like to hear one of the most beautiful pop songs ever recorded, give their “Out In the Country” a listen! Great reactions! 👊🎶❤
When I think of Three Dog Night, this is the song that instantly springs to mind. In fact, I remember hearing this song as a kid and not having a clue who sang it. It was played all the time. 4/7/23
When I was 4 yrs old, I distinctly remember a garage band in our neighborhood was playing this and someone carried me into the garage. It was so loud I had to cover my ears. But it always stayed with me. One of my all-time favorites. Always had the idea that at Christmas time to have the church band start playing this then stop and correct themselves saying it was the wrong "Joy to the World". LOL
Three Dog Night has so many good songs. Many of them, like this one, written by the great songwriter Hoyt Axton. You guys should check out some of his catalog.
Probably the only band that had 3 lead vocals... each a talent in their on right with a wonderful sounding 🎸Band. 🎹 And ..Yes..would have loved to see that type of 🤶Christmas 🎄Show🎅..😂 Tc
Three dog night is a Eskimo thing. When it was cold outside the Eskimo family would bring a dog into their igloo. When it was very cold they would bring 2 dogs in. When it was extremely cold they would bring 3 dogs in to help keep them warm. A three dog night is an extremely cold night.
"Naturally" is a tremendous album, which I played and played over and over again. It's got killer covers of "I'll Be Creeping" (Free), "Liar" (Argent), and Spooky Tooth's "I've Got Enough Heartache", which is one of Cory Wells' best vocals.
My dad's band ( Creedence Clearwater Revival ) has over 20 hit singles !! So Proud Mary is a great start. Traveling Band is a SERIOUS rocker. My Uncle John Fogerty's vocal are amazing
I think you two could absolutely enjoy and get the song Cause I'm a blond by Julie Brown. I know I'd love to watch you hear it for the first time. Give it a try.
My middle name is Joy and that’s the name I go by. My parents were hippies and I got my name from this song lol😉

It was #1 in the country - I believe for the entire year, if memory serves.

How could you not feel good after hearing this song
Chuck Negron is singing lead on this particular song. Corey Wells and Danny Hutton were lead singers as well. All sang harmony.
According to the Billboard charts, this was the number 1 song, for 1971.

They got everyone in the band singing
I sang this song all the time when I was a kid in the 70's So much fun to see you enjoy this fantastic song. 🌎🐟🐸👑
Song has become a children's favorite.
🎶🎶 Joy to the world 🎶
We used to sing this in church, with a few small changes in lyrics. It's a joyful song! Sometimes I sang the real lyrics 🙂
The great Chuck Negron on lead. You both heard other great singer Cory Welles. Now you need to hear Danny Hutton do Black and White.

That one was their biggest hit. Written by Hoyt Axton ("Gremlins"). Hoyt's mom Mae Boren Axton wrote "Heartbreak Hotel".
Hoyt also wrote “Never Been to Spain” which Three Dog Night crushed.
Hoyt and his mom are the only mother and son to both have number one hits

I’m giggling so hard right now thinking about this at a Christmas program!😂😂😂😂

You have perhaps the most iconic opening line of any song. How can one compete with "Jeremiah was a bullfrog"
Three Dog Night was my first concert ever in 1969. My parents took me.
Probably the only band that had 3 lead vocals... each a talent in their on right with a wonderful sounding 🎸Band. 🎹 And ..Yes..would have loved to see that type of 🤶Christmas 🎄Show🎅..😂 Tc
Another song written by the great Hoyt Axton!! And BTW, it's just Three Dog Night. Not The Three Dog Night, just FYI.
HaD many hits 70s this was their biggest one per billboard

Such a joyous, fun, feel-good song!
TDN was such a great band!

Liar is so perfectly written music especially.

Hillary Duff? Seriously? Give me Three Dog Night. Great band - I took my girlfriend, wife to see them twice in concert. What fun!
Saw 3 Dog Night live...back when concert tickets were affordable..
brilliant
Too much sun and sangria.😊
You sure Hillary Duff wasn't singing the Christmas song "joy to the world?"
Just a tip.. when you stop the song.. take it back a little.. that way song makes sense 😁✌️

Great music, great memories!

I know I'd love to watch you hear it for the first time. Give it a try.
PROS
this song is like a gospel church singalong, but while I'm there I'm going to get drunk and get busy with the ladies.
Please react to "Black and White" by Three Dog Night, soon.
Live
