I am curious how he was in high school for real.
Its strange how he is such a big jerk when usually someone who has been bullied sometimes has empathy or compassion...
Unfortunately, there are some people who become bullies or abusers themselves from bullying and abuse.
Unfortunately I actually know someone like Shane
Except my ex classmate was made fun of being short
Me and my friends felt really bad for it so we defended him everytime someone try to joke about his height
The joking faded out and the guy started acting weird
He would say really loud and unfunny “jokes” in the middle of the class to become the “class clown” to get attention but no one finds it funny so it usually ends with long awkward silence
He started picking fight with people, including me
He made this weird joke about me cheating?
For doing past papers as practice lol
I was 13 and pretty serious about academic stuff so I was kinda irritated about him making jokes about me cheating infront of teachers
Slowly people, even my friends and I, find him annoying but no one really say it to him becoz we dun want him to feel bad
He started getting complaints from other teachers that he kept forgetting his books and not finishing his homework
Our home room teacher had to take extra time during breaks to help him with his homework one by one
but he still doesn’t want to improve
Idk if he has any problem that makes it hard for him to study
If he is, I do feel bad for him but still after how much effort we took to try to help him
He had this mentality that everyone hates him
That the teachers made those complaints becoz they dun like him
I genuinely feel bad that he feels this way but like we dun know what to do if u dun even want to go try a bit to change

There is a tendency for people who have been bullied a lot to start bullying others, often because that's how they learned to behave and defend themselves against bullying. It's the same with most traumatic experiences. For example, children who grow up in an abusive house often become abusers, themselves, because that was what they were taught. It's a matter of repeating behaviors that are often overlooked and/or ignored by others, making them seem either favorable or normal.

It's a little funny that Shane consistently made jokes about his girlfriends leaving him because they were lesbians as some sort of weird attempt at self deprecation and then he left his girlfriend so he could explore his sexuality.

Here are a couple of things that he did in his more recent videos that are offensive: implying jaclyns a awful person for 5150 eugenia who was on the verge of death, chucky cheese in the same video as someones abuse story i found inappropriate as all hell, also trying to get youtube's worst psych to improperly diagnose jake paul of being a sociopath was pretty offensive imo.

I know that Shane’s bi so he could have been looking at the girl too, but wouldn’t it be a better joke if his friend was like “are you looking at the guy?” And he was like “...actually...yes.” And she’s like “...I’m not.” And they both look at each other in shock for a second and then smile and start laughing, and end it there? It’s still really stupid but then we could see how maybe he thought that was a meaningful coming out moment for both of them while we still see it as dumb but can at least understand the perspective? With just a bit of work it can start to make more sense.
i think at the time he was really trying to push the whole "idk why everyone assumes I'm gay" joke and really either in denial or trying to come across as straight but this would have been a much better storyline if he was out at the time

Ryland, who is profoundly 2-dimensional + unfathomably pompous and boring somehow keeps Shane entertained. Go Figure. The rest of us will never curry favor with Shane, for we are interesting, complex, and delightful humans. He’ll never “get” us; he’ll only hate us.

My friends and I stopped because we thought it was racist and not funny. Of course that's not everyone. I know one woman who lost a huge amount of weight due to health issues, and she has continued being a body positivity activist, speaking against fatphobia, though she isn't fat anymore.

I'm not convinced that anyone genuinely did?? people who enjoyed it back then must've been fooling themselves, because even at like 11 I couldn't pretend to like his sketches or films. at the time I didn't even think too hard about the offensiveness of it, the jokes just never made me laugh and I always got bored or annoyed so I stopped watching his stuff

The Hate Myselfie book has ‘New York Times bestseller’ on the cover. I bet this title alone opened lots of doors for him. I bet everyone who collaborated thought he was revolutionary & artsy because he was a bestseller somehow but he is creepy & has bad taste. Other people deserved that budget & those actors.
"New York Times Bestseller" for me here feels a lot like that one author who was on the charts for 23 hours until it came out that she twisted to system by buying a large bulk copy of her work, I think. How he got on the charts at all is weird.

there are so many things wrong with shane's "movies" but it always creeped me out how he had this weird obsession with his lesbian friend. i understand having a crush on a friend, and having a crush on a friend whose sexuality does not include you, but i remember he made a lot of comments/jokes about how he wanted to date her and how he "looked like a fat girl" and hoped she would like him because of that???? eugh
