    I am a Husky guy but run Hexa, I had a C85 chain Richard Flagg uses a square file to try and replicate the angle but it is not worth the effort. Thanks for your honest opinion.

      Thanks for your comments the Husky dealer told they use a grinder and just the angle to suit the profile.
      Many chainsaw chain manufacturers just copy Husqvarna X cut

    C83 100' roll $350.00 roll. HEXA $600.00 . HEXA file kit $40.00, $20 for just a file. File C83 to HEXA. Round file C83 then flat file the 45% back in is just a little to much for me. I did re-profile a pink Oregon grinding and increase the angle. Only use when the chain becomes a metal or common earth mineral detector.

      Yes agree 45° a bit steep. I am happy with Hexa it works well. I have hexa files but mainly use my Stihl USG grinder or Tecomec to grind Hexa or X Cut profile. Are you happy with Hexa or X Cut?

    Thanks for the series of these chains, but I will stay with a round file or my modified HB grinder.

      @elpolaco7654 ok will look that up. Tell me who invented the full chisel chain joseph cox invented the chipper chain but who and when invented the full chisel

      @elpolaco7654 TheX cut c85 has a top plate cutting angle of 45° and is 1.7mm long and straight no curve. A 4mm file will give to much hook. 99% of people will use 1file not 2 files. You will never copy that profile using 2 different size files. Reprofile a new chainsaw grinding wheel is the best and accurate option here

      Now could that filing technique be used on a normal full chisel chain? To make a budget X-cut.

      @Drottninggatan2017 I would not use a round file on it. I only would reface the grinding wheel with a slight angle to create that small hook

    Stihl more aggressive angles which can dull faster, as a woodworker who angles bevels pn his chisels angle of the cutting edge makes difference how sharp you can get but the lower the angle the faster it dulls

      A wood worker should know angles well and 25° 30° works well for me

    You use a flat file to keep the profile on a c85

    • @ChainsawUsers
      @ChainsawUsers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's 2 files to do the job. I just dressed the grinding wheel to match as I keep new chain as my profile template. It's quicker and more accurate. Unless you are exceptional with a file.

    Wouldn't a goofy work on the Husky chain

    • @ChainsawUsers
      @ChainsawUsers  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes but then it would be square ground chain

      Goofy has round corners. Can use 6 sided vallobe chisel bit works good
