PART 2. What's Wrong With International Versions of The Digital Circus?

- My previous video about the international dubs of The Amazing Digital Circus got a lot of views, so here's part 2. As you know, different versions changed The Digital Circus quite a bit, but the dubs I'll talk about in this video changed it even more. I've checked out the remaining adaptations: Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, Indonesian, Filipino, and Korean. Also, I've discovered some new interesting details in the Ukrainian, Spanish, and Russian versions, so let's jump right in.

Sorry for my mistakes, if there are any. I really tried my best, but it's not an easy task.
Also, I've already made a few videos on the differences in dubs of other animated features. You can check it out on my channel (the video about Madagascar is crazy)
it's crazy you got over 2 million views, that is how much active fans there are.
Do the Caine and moon scene explained in other languages
Chinese also outright says that Pomni doesn’t like the name
One little detail: the portuguese is from Brazil, actually!
Yes, we brazilian speak brazilian portuguese!
As a Chinese , The weird blur is because in Chinese, the swear words are had to cover with how the word sounds like the f word, sounds like “ta-ma-de” And for the weird names, we don’t really translate the name. we just see what it sounds like and make that their name like, my opinions, kinger wound sound like “qien-ne” spelled, 起呢
I thought it was “可兒” (kuh-uhr)
Yeah..
I thought 金戈 is really common translation for King/Kinger? just sometime they use 格 instead of 戈, read this some comic and novel before
(For the chinese names) If the names of the characters do not sound the same, it is because the original sound doesn’t exist in chinese language. We cannot pronounce them, the sounds do not exist. So they (the translators) chose the most similar pronunciations to apply them EXACTLY AS IN THE ORIGINAL! The translators absolutely didn’t change they’re names, but just adapted them to the chinese pronunciation, that's all! I know it because I'm chinese so, you can trust me on it (99,9999999%)
It is true because there is no “Kin” sound in Mandarin, so we must choose the closest word that resembles the original sound, “Jin.”
As a Filipino, I CAN CLEARLY HEAR WHAT POMNI SAYING IN OUR LANGUAGE XDDDDDD
6:52 yeah i think it’s kinda true. We usually use the word “wacky” only when referring to making a funny pose (kinda like telling people to “say cheese” when taking a picture), but not really for other things. My guess to why they didn’t use “wacky watch” is because it would have been translated to “crazy watch”, and the word “crazy” in the Philippines (“baliw”) usually covers the more negative connotation of the word “crazy”. So I think it might translate to something like “sickly watch”, which probably wouldn’t fit the funny tone of the scene, so they probably opted to just refer to the function of the watch rather than saying its name as to not confuse viewers with its name since it would sound weird if translated literally. Though Filipino viewers would probably still learn that the watch is just named “Wacky Watch” anyway because of the ad that appears on screen.
As a turkish i dont know a freak about turkish soap opera💀💀
1:57 1:57 1:57
Im turkish too
WHY ARE YOU SWEARING!!!???
We can’t have any of that foul language around here
u mean turk bro :D turkish is language for we
Pomni's voice in japanese is a mixture of english and korean tbh
cool analysis. I am waiting for the analysis of the series of "Murder Drones".
In the Spanish dub of when Zooble gets eaten alive by the Gloink queen, they actually finish their swearing sentence. They say (roughly translated), "Hey! Kinger, you mother(HONK!)-"
As for Japanese, there are not many curse words in Japanese, so that may be why.
They could've dubbed the Japanese voice actor just saying English swear words and use similar sounding sounds for any sounds the actor would struggle to pronunce.
3:13 fun fact:in the original Spanish version its says:cosas [Things] but in the 2.0 Spanish Dub Jax says:bichos[bugs]
I am Filipino and pomni is saying swearing and we have the Tagalog words all that she said is the Tagalog version of English swear words
Fr LMAO
As an Indonesian, in my opinion, why is it that when Zooble says a curse word and the curse word is cut short, perhaps because in Indonesia most of the curse words only have 3 words, such as be-reng-sek, bang-sat, ba-ji-ngan. Zooble says it's ba-ji-ngan and it only has 3 words to say, while what Zooble says in English is mo-ther-fu-cker and it has 4 words whereas in Indonesian it only has 3 the word so is probably why in Indonesian the cutting of curse words is fast because there are not enough to show.
im tired of international dubbed channels tottaly just kidding lol 😅
Nice explanation!
Also they're not considered words, they're considered syllables :)
4:54 as an german speaking austrian i actually never noticed that lollll
I really appreciate it
OH YAY there is my language, TURKISH :D
Jaku: ''I liked the turkish version''
Me: *Happy turkish voices*
Kinger's voice in Japanese sounds weirdly cool. And if it sounds alike to someone, let me know
0:48 it's a shame they miss out on the Little Runmo reference
1:57 What was done here is common trope in dubbing which I hate called "Non-dubbed grunts" where the dubbers skip sounds or occasionally words like no (which is the same in French, Spanish and Italian) made by characters that are apparently inconsequential and can be left in to save time and money. Which leads to weird voice changes sometimes and it brings the question as to why leave the sounds in when the original actors had to use their voice for the entire episode or movie.
I love this show 💜👏 I love the animation in this show
The “ks” in Jax has no pronunciation for the combination of letters due to pronunciation rules. So they resort to ke si as it roughly approximates the x well enough.
2:55 Actually, He Presents Himself As "Dulce De Leche" But Of Course Jax Wasnt Going To Call Him All That, So He Just Cutted It Short To "Señor De Leche" (Mr.Milk)
now i know for sure that the last swear word Pomni says is B!tch
(Okbut why is Jax's voice in the japanese dub so
🤧🥴😳
Good luck Hima
WOW thx for portugal flag but it's the pt brazilian version :( i want a pt pt now!
Sorry. My mistake. I'll fix it in the next videos
essatamente @rubinho146 temos q convidar tugas pa fazer uma
1:39, in filipino, theres no censorship as the voice actors (The CreatiVoices) keep laughing when Janeane (va of Pomni, Ragatha, Bubble, Moon, and in theme song in the dub) did that, it was a joke or a funny addition to just pronounce the first syllables of every filipino swear word. In the last one you can hear "put-" which is definitely a swear word. (I heard this on the team who dubbed the filipino version's video on yt.)
jax: oh ive done it *in a mad voice*
My brother and I noticed a phrase German Caine uses when taking German Pomni on the tour he says a common phrase that translates to "off with the post" which roughly means "hurry up" and probably originates from the post office only being open for a short amount of time (feel free to correct me)
I like from last video the glonk queen called jacks and knock off bugs bunny
1:14 i think in the Polish dub the censorship sounds are different from the English version. so probably the censorship sounds are added manually for each dub, and the Chinese and Filipino dubs just forgot to add them
The soap opera you used is one my grandma watches 😭
Such a coincidence... (1:00)
It would be very unlikely this show would be imported in China, for that there's a limited show import quota and it's unlikely to be used on a show that might be heavily edited or simply fail the authority. And thus the dub should be considered the "international Chinese" version, and it just happened that the dub is produced by a mainland China team.
As for the name translation, it's done like that because there's a standard syllable conversation table that's commonly used in news report, which maps each foreign syllable to a specific Chinese character. And this table has some influence in literature and show translation. The reason it sounded much different is unclear though, but my guess is that this table were originally for transcribing Japanese instead, and thus it can be thought of as to read the English (or any Latin language) name in Japanese first, and then transcribing the Japanese pronunciation. Imo a better example for this is the name of Trixie in My Little Pony, which is 特里克西 (Tèlǐkèxī) in Chinese, and that sounds more like the Japanese name トリクシ (Torikushi) rather than the original English name. Mind that the result doesn't always sound like Japanese though, for example the -el sounds would usually be translated as ル (ru) in Japanese but 尔 (ěr) in Chinese, and the Chinese sound is more like English then Japanese.
03:40 In Portuguese dub,Kinger is named Kingo and Caine is named Caim
05:02 Actually, this isnt sounds of Zooble. They scream "ME AJUDA POR FAVOR" It means "HELP ME PLEASE" or domething like that
01:30 YOU are HAVING the awkward experience of listening to Pomni grunt and moan. (Very sus and naughty sounding.)
They could've left the English "swearing", because there's technically no swear words per se in Japanese.
ım turkish and jax calls kinger gone from the head or somethings like that when he says "kafadan kontakt" which actually made me laugh because ı was just waiting for him to call both freaks
It was also in the Ukrainian, Korean and Thai versions (I almost died in the Thai version) 1:54
French as well
I prefer the original English version. Despite having never seen the other dubs.
exactly
Внезапное появление Химы 2:39
哇等等,我看到主題中所有的故障謀殺無人機秘密
I speak a tad bit of Chinese and it's probably because the character names were spelt in Zhuyin
Does anyone know how to access the different translations? I cant find a way how.
In the options of the video (where there is the video quality, subtitles, speed, ...) there should be "audio track" or something like that
No, the Spanish version is the best also the Japanese because I like pomni voice and Jax voice
The Indonesian dub kept the original swearing was probably because we don't have a lot swearing words with 1 syllable, making it unnecessarily long
На этот раз, Химэ стал анимешником
plz do an episode 2 version
"Russians changed Kinger's name to Koraler"
Me, a brazilian, hearing how it's pronounced: CARALHO???
1:37 🤨🤨🤨

I didn't know Japanese is pronounced "jepenez"😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 2:28 😹😹😹
just wanna say 4:58 is in portuguese from brazil
me:gangle china:ange
also the fact you missed that in Arabic, pomni was called "ba'mni" because there is no "p" in Arabic language so they have to choose "b" instead because it's the closest thing to "p", glad I go to Islamic school 🤠
im türk🇹🇷 [pls dont hate me]
and i can hear jax saying :

Translate!
Я заметил что в русской версии когда королер,джэкс и гэнгл врезаются в кегли у всех все одинаково,нл когда джекс отпинывает стоящую кеглю слово "страйк" не озвучено в англизкой версии(про другие не могу знать) ,а в русской версии эта же сцена озвучена. Похоже гличи немного поторопились. Думаю они молодцы удачи им в производстве мультфильма.
