  • In this episode of the CB 750 RR project I graft the 1994 VFR 750 swingarm to the original 1981 CB 750 frame milling down the original pivot bushings to allow the new swing arm to fit. We also get tires mounted onto the new rims in the rear tire mounted onto the bike. Link below are some of the tooling used in this episode.

Great job! Do you have the dimensions you turned down that tube/ sleeve? I’m getting ready to start my build later this fall.

Nice work mate! Are all VFR made with same rear swing width? And what year was this swing donor bike?

VFR swing arms vary a bit. This one is from a 1993 model. If I could do it again I’d go with a later 90s model as they change the mounting system for the rear shock and it would have been easier to convert.

Hello! I have a question. The Swing Arm fits into the CB Frame without any processing? And how do you solve the problem with the deflection? Thanks for the Video. Greatings from Germany.

Brother, with respect. The bits are called insert or tool and you're turning not milling! Best of luck. Cool project.

You are absolutely right. It’s funny I know these things but you get try talking about it on the fly and it goes out the window. I apologize for the mistakes.

So what year swing arm are you using here.
Noticed you mentioned it was almost identical width..

I read in search he used a 94 swing arm. Apparently 94-97 are the same and seems like they work on 84-85 vf1000f as well which I maybe try for my build

I'd go the older the better. I ended up with an 03 800 and the frame needed some massaging

Hello I have the same project with my XS650. I want to put an XJR 1300 swingarm and I have all the parts. I have the same problem, my swingarm pivot bolt is 16mm and the new XJR 1300 swingarm pivot bolt is 20mm. I can drill the frame hole or make a new Bushing like you ?

@@teurpi28 I wouldnt drill the frame as that’s going to carry part of the stress and I’m not sure how much it would weaken it. I would sleeve your original bolt. Measure the length you need and use some chrome moly tube. Either get the correct inside diameter (16mm) or get as close as you can to the 16mm depending what’s offered and use a lathe and drill the tubing out to 16mm. and then turn the outside of the tube down to 20mm.

    Schöne Arbeit!
Aber ich denke der Rahmen ist viel zu schwach für die schwere rc36 Einarmschwinge!
    Jesus love you!
