I honestly don’t know why VW doesn’t just keep their well-established naming and use Golf and Polo, just accepting that they are moving to all-electric / non-ICE versions. The styling is nice, actually has many classic VW cues; a good update of the Golf Mk VII…!
The interior looks like a big step up and thank goodness for the return of some physical buttons for frequently used controls. Much safer. Who knows, if this works then maybe VW may even realise that this is a *good* thing and add a few more…!

I don't think the space under the seat is an issue. Most cars today don't have that, its a nice place to give extra room.

  • @jeffcohen1934
    @jeffcohen1934 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The Golf has a timeless shape. Motors and battery chemistry will evolve; keep the shape. Instrumentation options are good. Folding front seat is good. Space under back seat could be used for more battery (LFP) for a bit more range. Hatch button opening is cool. It could be viewed as a little late to the market, but EV sales have cooled a bit. Keep the ID2all as it can be the new peoples' car. Use recycled/ repurposed materials to compete with the EX30.

It was mostly reviewers who didn’t like capacitive buttons. I’m perfectly fine with them, I even like them a lot.
I’m also extremely happy with my MK8 GTI interface.

Thanks for an interesting video. I was so happy when VW told us about its electrification. Imagine if VW had started their launch with ID2, what luck. I had now been a happy VW owner. Now it was ID3 and we have to wait another year for ID2. Here, VW really missed something.

I’m very much an ICE person and hope to buy a Polo GTI in a few years. I was disappointed to read it may not be possible, and I’d have to choose electric, but having seen this id2, I actually like it, do my disappointment may not be that great after all .

Hi, thanks for your detailed guide to the inside of the VW iPolo. We enjoyed it a lot. Hurray for buttons in this version! We don't need the distraction of scrabbling at flat screens whilst driving.
We like the idea of a drawer or drawers under the back seat that will also flat pack away. If there could be a flip up back seat as well for extra versatility, that would be great for a safe space for the family dogs to ride at floor level, or to carry (for example) a bike. D rings or seat belt points available to secure dogs safely, or to secure cargo safely will be ideal.
We like the boot space and specs. Please don't forget to give stowage pockets, and also D ring anchor points to take securing straps. The car's charging cables will need their dedicated places for stowage, easily accessed, and easy to keep clean.
Stowage under the passenger seat pad has long been valued in our present small car (competitor make).
Some thoughts about microfibre. What material is it? If it is made from an oil derived fabric, that's a no for us. Not even "recycled" would be acceptable. Microplastics contamination is insidious. We would rather have natural wools (woven and felt), or reclaimed leathers and suede. Choices, please.
Other considerations.. we don't need any self-drive abilities in our cars, but will simple front and back parking assist sensors and cameras be standard? Will reversing lights be good enough to see with when needing to reverse along narrow rural British roads in the dark? (Real safety issues in vehicles where design has overlooked real world situations.)
Batteries and range are vital. Battery technology develops rapidly, future proofing for battery configuration and capacity would be ideal. Smaller batteries with longer range may come soon. Making the vehicle versatile to many possibilities will be a winner.

I only want a display or analog instruments behind the wheel. No center screen. The buttons in the center for climate is perfect. Like the material choices in the car. Golf 1 or Beetle style that´s nice. I would like to shut off the center display if that is possible. I like this storage solution under the rear seat. Like the basic design but not the lights. Give us the square lights in the back no light bar and no light bar in the front and I would be happy. 40kw/h battery would be perfect for me. Needs to be realeased to the summer 2024. Just so you know, been waiting since 2016 to buy an ev for around 20´000 euros.

I'm American and this is the first electric car I would actually consider buying, assuming they come through on the rumored pricing. 200 miles is more than enough range for me. My job is only about 25 miles away from my house and they have electric chargers.

I would LOVE to buy one in the future as my next car, i love EVERYTHING about it... APART from the low range, i drive to Germany every year for my vacation, and with the current range i would need to make 2 stops to charge... So i kinda hope for a small miracle that they can improve that part before they release the car.

As per many comments, please make it just as it is now! Don't change a thing (other than if you can bring the release date - including to the UK - forward considerably!). Easily the best looking existing or planned EV in my eyes and a car with sensible proportions for real world driving around towns and country lanes. Range is fine and cost sounds good. I will be getting one unless something unexpected arrives sooner and, although I can't see that happening for me, this is the risk VW is taking the longer they take to deliver this to the public.

Unlike Thomas I actually like the two window switches with a rear button over the four buttons. The number of times I open the wrong windows when getting to a ticket machine is unreal for someone who has had his car for 6 years (and quite dangerous in a country where cars are often hijacked).
For the under rear seat storage, I would prefer the flip up seat but with a removable container below, allowing you to carry tall items on the floor (much like with the Honda Fit).
One big request though: please allow the boot cover to be stored underfloor when folding down the seats.

Denmark is a very expensive country to own a car and Denmark say they Will be in front of climate change. This is only the start. I need a small EV like ID 2. Dont buy a fossil car in Denmark.

By the time the door opens, I’m out. No way I’ll want to detail a microfiber interior. Also, how do you clean behind that ridiculous armrest? Where can I store a water bottle on the door? Cup holders that are square. Are you serious? The buttons are all the same and difficult to operate by touch alone.
VW - take the interior of the MK6 GTI and paste into this monstrosity. No amount of blue will save the nightmare that a road trip with 2 kids would be in this.
