Good program, I spent 16 years longhauling in the 80s and 90s and spent a lot of time running in the reservation areas but never had time to spend checking things out other then places that could accommodate a big truck and trailer.

Officer Morgan is such a kind, compassionate person. Thank you for ending the suffering of that poor beast. Sometimes, kindness and regard for animals takes strong measures. I have enjoyed learning more about the Navajo Nation, Some information surprised me, like skin walkers and hollers, but all I learned enlightened me. Thank you for posting and sharing.

I envy the white officer. I work on the Hopi and Navajo quite a bit as a Travel Nurse and always feels so sad when it comes time for me again to leave. Usually I can't stay away very long and I go up on weekends to visit my friends. I could live there permanently if given the chance

Not all Navajos live on alcohol and drugs. Just a few Navajo make the whole group of people look bad. I work for a living with one of the largest company in Arizona and I'm looking forward to retirement. I don't do drugs and drink alcohol.

I love the Navajo people and I find a beauty in them apart from other people and especially other tribes to some degree (I worked with many in Oklahoma, Utah, and AZ) but I never understand why, if they preach such a special appreciation for the land and those things, why they make no attempt to clean or beautify their houses or property.
I understand they are also the poorest as a whole of all the civilized tribes, but things are getting better with the new casinos, and they have no rent or land payments, so why not clean and take care of YOUR land? Saying it is fine, but doing it is another. Like those in inner cities, or the "north side " of town ...you get my drift.....why do you HAVE to be poor AND filthy? Take pride in YOU first.

ice 18 Being Poor or Being Navajo or any other minority does not mean that they are ALL DIRTY or live in filthy conditions.. I know rich people that live in very messy places. Feeling depressed or living in oppressive situations I am sure does not help. When you dont feel a sense of community or belonging.. you dont care what your sorroundings look like! just my two cents its not to start a fight or anything.

@@TheUtubewatcher2010 No one EVER says "ALL OF THEM" and that was made clear and I often wonder if when people who respond like you do are really THAT ignorant that we think there is NO exception and we really believe its only one way all the way? Or do you just say that to make yourself feel important...... But way too many live that way and a reservation is not a place of beauty nor are there any in the US considered safe areas. Why do reservations have a dangerous rep? Why do inner city projects have a bad rep? I have walked among their homes and I'd say 3/4 fit the description that we'd call "white trash" looking if applied to another race.
And borrowing your analogy there are many who feel down and oppressed who DON'T have trash strewn around, or pregnant young teenagers around, or beer bottles thrown everywhere, or stray dogs digging in your trash. So just because one feels frustrated doesn't mean they suddenly earned some right to live like a slob.
I have always found a great irony in the fact that those groups of people, like the unemployed or laid off, or the inner city gang bangers who eat and live off girlfriends welfare checks and food stamps, have ALL THE TIME in world to clean, pick up, help out, and yet they are the ones living in squalor many times.

Of course not. I have many Native friends and none of them drink. There are just as many Non-Native Alcoholics and "The Native Drunk" is a stereotype. And as a trained Medical Professional I know that there is also a medical explanation why Natives (and also Asians) cannot metabolize Alcohol like others. There is no shame in that at all.

I live in eastern Pennsylvania but I have travelled quite extensively with my dad throughout the United States (an amazing country to see) and, I have to tell you the approximately 2 to 3 hour stretch of highway between Phoenix and Flagstaff, AZ is some of the most beautiful landscape I have ever seen. We were on our way up to the Grand Canyon which was amazing to see! A word of caution though to anyone who is planning on taking this trip: you will be driving through the desert. Make sure your gas tank is full and you have water in the car!

The scourge of drugs and alcohol has helped to destroy if not actually destroyed the lovely tranquil lifestyle of the Navajo nation. They are not all affected by this scourge just like in any society some people look for an escape from their problems. I wish they would show more of the traditional lifestyle of the Navajo as they do come across as a gentle tolerant people. We could all learn something from them.

+Anthony Zavala they Are Native American. they speak American Language. English is a European Language. not an American language.. can you speak any of the American languages?? i don't thinks so... this tribe is one of the Real American people, and speak a Real American Language. they shouldn't speak a foreign language like english that well. since English is not an American Language idiot.

Rei Gurren they say you can’t fix stupid, but can you fix a forced language on an Indigenous tribe to eradicate their cultural identity? Don’t just people on the way they talk, behave, or think. Unless you know the reason why. Do some research into the relations between Navajos and the US government. Yes we’re past that and we want to forget it, but the effects can be seen today. Wether it be as minute as ‘sucky’ English skills to as evident as widespread poverty, abuse, and reliance.

Let's say that it's a byproduct of bi-lingualism/multi-lingualism, constant codeswitching, fatigue, and unguarded moments when the speaker is not self editing.

Lots of Credit to these officers. Patience, they have compassion, they dont cuss or badger , or disrespect those they take into custody. They dont yell at them threaten them, or in any way physically abuse them. They dont go to the wrong address or misidentify the suspects. What has impressed me the most is they dont approach the situation with their guns drawn. They dont go around trying to intimidate the suspects or the witnesses.
I almost want to ask if I can live at the reservation.

Open range ranching puts so many lives at risk on the NN. Fencing needs to put up along all highways within the reservation. So many people are negligent when it comes to "their" animals ( dogs or cattle). People need to be held accountable for their animals.
