    It is such a trip to see the area I grew up in on TV... I lived in Kirtland. About 20 miles from Shiprock. I have been able to see Shiprock from my window everyday :) Its a neat area for sure :)

    These cops have patience, and guts! Holgate is a fine example. Dealing with drugs and the supernatural is not something most cops are trained for. I know they hope to help the Navaho choose the right path in life. Excellent work, gentlemen, and good to see the State and Federal police supporting you!

    That's good Police work. These Navajo cops are real police. In some big cities they follow the "Shock and Awe" or sometimes the famous, "Yellow-Balls Policy". Big city cops would have come to arrest these guys in full battle gear, APCs and minimum of fifty cops.

    • @trekgirl65
      @trekgirl65 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nathan Shardelow It is not in apartheid there now, gone for many years. There is comflict that Armed services can take of, not police. And to make my point again, China is Asian, not African. Still you need to go back to learn world history again. Not everything is in South Africa. This is a big world and a lot of conflicts going on. Watch cable news and find out how busy this world really is and where and on what contenant.

      FYI - You may be trolling but "China" is an expression white South Africans call other South Africans I'm guessing its because they're both white but I could be wrong. Perhjaps you shoulod consider that when telling others to get educated.

    I'm a common-sense sociologist, and I travel in scary-ass places with armed guerrillas and terrorists and so on, but skinwalkers scare the living bejesus out of me. I once worked with some Native Americans and they warned me that a skinwalker had been active in a part of their ranch, and I was never so scared to go anywhere as I was to go to that part of the reservation after that.

    • @trekgirl65
      @trekgirl65 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mistressmacha Do you know what a Skin walker is? Or this was told to you to scare you? It was to scare you, from walking onto sacred ground.

    • @mistressmacha
      @mistressmacha 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +trekgirl65 Do you know what a sociologist is? It's my JOB to know about the culture I'm working with. I lived with these guys studying them for weeks. I knew that reservation like the back of my hand by the end of it, and believe me, I knew where and where not to walk within the first DAY.
      TL;DR: Of course I know what a fucking skin walker is. Jesus fucking Christ.

    I lived in windowrock for a year, while my dad helped build highway to the sky, or something like that. We lived around a ranch where a young Indian or Navajo fella worked the stallion, he came and wanted me to go for a ride, I was only 17, my dad would have killed me if the horse didn't. It was a fun winter, I had never lived in a warm climate like that, my brother went to 6th grade there.

      Barbara Miller I think this is the perfect example of why, they sent "Police Officers" on a chase for a mythical creature no one has ever seen... What the hell, that's embarrassing :''''D

    • @denverdiva0174
      @denverdiva0174 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ***** It actually exists. It's not a mythical creature no one has ever seen.. Plenty of the people have actually had encounters with them. You're just ignorant and closed minded to cultures other than your own, which I completely understand. You spell your name with two n's, that's so weird. I don't know why anyone would ever name their child like that - but I guess it was their choice. See? Not that hard to not HATE on things you don't understand.

    I am of Native Heritage but I can't prove my bloodline because my grandmother was taught to deny her roots in order to fit in, so we have no official records. Family pictures and stories are all the evidence I have.

    • @mistressmacha
      @mistressmacha 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Comfortdoll Same, but Canadian First Nations as opposed to Native Americans (same thing, different name.) You should consider getting DNA typing, they can identify what ethnic origins you come from. I had it done for medical reasons but a bunch of stuff that got flagged is 99% of the time specific to particular groups, so that gave a pretty good indicator. I know you can get it done specifically for ethnic heritage though for a couple hundred dollars, so if you really want to know more, you ought to consider it.

    I'm thinking that the howler could be a cougar. They have an impressive vocal range. Or maybe a wolf. I'm having trouble with the"Big Foot" notion.
    I've read some of the Hillerman books, and I know it's a battle for these cops to keep to their beliefs, as they have to do things that are against tribal taboos all the time. They have to keep a mental map in their heads of who lives where, and who is related to who. There are connections between clans and families going back for centuries. They may find that they have to arrest and haul in someone that's very connected to either themselves, or one of their parents. And that's a loose/loose situation.
