    I’m her. I’m that grandma. Lol 😆
My mom was my influencer… I was also a child of the 70s (and 60s) and grew up with all the needlecrafts…yarn, fabric, etc. I’m 60 now. I do all of it, still! My two grown kids cherish every single thing I make for them!
Recently, my son and DIL had a friend who bought a warehouse that used to be a “maker’s space”. So they were selling off three stories worth of “stuff” that makers had left in their booths. Well…this friend told my son to just take this Mountain of yarn - for free! So, they arrived at my house with a TRUCK load of yarns!! Omigosh! 😲. I mean….very expensive yarns, too! Alpaca, silk, mohair, cashmere…. You name it, I’ve got it! I’ll be crocheting til the day I die. Lol 😆

I am sure your Grandma looks down on you and smiles at what a wonderful person you are! I love your positivity. I enjoy all your posts. While my Granny didn't sew , my Granddaddy did! Every project I sewed my Granddaddy would just talk about how great it was. It gave me confidence to keep making more things! My Granny kept every sweatshirt that I painted and embellished. When she passed my mom found them in a drawer with a note that said " From Lorrie"-, had fixed her one for every holiday/ and season. I never realized that she kept them for 20 years, hand washed them so they looked like new. What a blessing it is to be encouraged and loved ❤
Thank you for all your fabulous post!

My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was around 15. Now, nearly 50 years later, I think of her every time I crochet. I wish she had the variety of yarn and patterns we have available today. She would have loved it. I have many of her crochet hooks and cherish them.

I love that she made such an impact on you! And you're right, modern yarns are amazing, especially compared to vintage yarns!

I lived with my grandmother and was very close to her as well. She sewed, crocheted, and macramed. I'm the summers, she's buy craft kits for all 5 grand kids. Models, paint by numbers, latch hook, etc. She encouraged us to explore different things, even if we didn't think we'd like it, "It might surprise you by being your new favorite activity." She would be 106 today if she were still here. I lost her at 27. She's was a true blessing!

As a creative person, it still always floors me when friends tell me they got into some craft because of me because I inspired and encouraged them. I forget that the creative chaos I possess is seen and felt by others and it makes me so happy!

What a nice memory and great story. I could just picture you and your grandma going through fabric. I’m not a crocheted yet but I knit. I find your story’s and insights so relatable even though we don’t do the same exact craft.

My grandmother passed at 107 and she loved to crochet, I remember her crocheting and watching her tv dramas. When she passed I was gifted some of her crochet hooks and a really beautiful set of doilies. My grandmother made some beautiful things and inspired me to follow her craft but I like to make wearables.

      @ShannonTalksYarn  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

WOW, 107 is amazing! My Grandma wasn't into evening dramas but she loved her afternoon soap operas like General Hospital and the Young and Restless. I remember because I had to sit quietly during them! 😂😂😂

I call that generation, "The Great Generation." They could do anything. My dad is from that same generation. He would be 103 if he were alive. He fixed all kinds of stuff in our house. Wonderful industrious people. You've learned the best stuff from your grandmother. I enjoyed this video. 😊❤

I am living proof that everyone can be creative. I am a strong left-brainer, so I don't design...that is, come up with unique designs...but I am creative with others' fantastic designs, putting my twist on them and love into them. I am blessed to have family that taught me how to crochet, sew, cook and bake...and YT creators that taught me how to knit.

Once when I was staying at my grandma's I was wearing a plain cream wool jumper with a turtleneck that my mum bought me second-hand. When I came down from my bath one night she had embroidered a cluster of flowers in several shades of pink on chest on one side. She had just done it when I was in the bath. It was a little miracle! I loved the jumper so much more afterwards.

OMG - my Grandma was my role model, while my Mom was the one who taught me how to crochet to keep me out of her "hair" BUT it was my Grandma was the one who encouraged me to enjoy and thrive in my crafting. One day when I was maybe 4 or 5 yrs old, I found that my favorite dress had a tear in it so, I went into my Grandma's big sewing box to find a needle and thread to sew up the rip, my Grandma found me and instead of freaking out or yelling she just looked over my shoulder and asked if I needed help, then she showed me how to make it look nicer. Her encouragement made me, when I got into my teens/early twenties, really get into sewing my own clothes and later on making clothes for my own kids. Thanks for this wonderful episode!

Excellent video. My grandmother taught me to crochet. She also sewed and embroidered as do I. I’m 66 and just teaching myself to knit and weave. Like you my grandma inspired me to create. My friends were also jealous of all the Barbie clothing she made for me. I chuckled as I listened to your story. Brought back a lot of great memories.
PS. I made your beanie and finished it today. Wrote down the how to and have it in my pattern collection. Thanks.

Hi Shannon, Thanks for sharing your memories of your relationship with your loved ones. Such great memories. Both of my grandma's were crocheters too. One of them was a seamstress too. I have done some sewing. I have made some quilts in the past. I think maybe 5 or 6. I enjoy crochet more because you can take it anywhere.

Very nice chat and tribute to your grandmother. Your grandmother is smiling down on you and the creative outlet you have created here on youtube. My grandma was the mother to 9 kids. I was her first grandchild. She was an amazing sewer. She was so creative too. She loved dolls. I bought myself a little doll and have been having fun crocheting little outfits for her. I feel she may need a pumpkin beanie sooner than later. -Best😍

My Mom was the creative one in my family. She sewed, crocheted, and got a monthly craft kit to try new things. We were always exposed to creating useful things. She used to make her and I outfits from the same fabric. She also made Barbie clothes. I could never figure out how you could make something so small, and then turn it to the right side. She's 84 now. She just won first place at our county fair for a purse she made from recycled jeans.
