This is just a small part of the nine-day adventure we are having here in the Bay Islands of Honduras. We flew in to Roatan, then hopped a Cessna to Utila and are adventuring all around the area. From diving to snorkeling to stand-up paddleboarding or even just relaxing with a book in a hammock, there is so much to do here. Utila really feels like the Old Caribeean, before the resorts and the cruise ships and the chain restaurants invaded!

I did my IDC at UDC earlier this year and both the dive shop and the island are infectious. I've already returned once this year and I'm looking forward to going back again and again. There's something so special about Utila.
Wow that place has changed! I did my OWSI there back in 2009. Andy was a great guy and still is a businessman role model to me.
Jamesy's clips don't just have to be technically informative and helpful. Today was a more spiritual video and still very much appreciated. After all for the bulk of us, that is what we are diving for anyway. A new world we are not meant to live in but can still visit.

I was born and raised in Honduras and I moved to the US (Texas) 21 years ago. My first dive ever was in Roatan, but every year since, I travel to Utila for my “yearly fix” of great diving in a relaxing island. Montego Bay Jamaica will always have a special place in my heart. My wife made it possible for me to learn how to dive and covered most of my gear as well. Sadly she never got to see me dive or see any of the video's I have made. I didn't learn to dive until June of 2019 and she passed away in February of 2019... She was also from Jamaica and that is where I did my advanced open water certification dives. She was actually very afraid of water as when she was a child she was pushed into a pool and I have always loved being in the water even to just float around. She still travels with me everywhere and I know my angel is looking out for me just over my right shoulder and will be till the day I no longer walk or swim on this earth.
A few months ago I did get to dive a couple places around Roatan and I think that is a place where I would enjoy going down to for a week. Turquoise Bay was the better place to dive from though IMHO, got to see them take a few lionfish off the reef and saw a huge green moray surfing the reef looking for a bite to eat.

Is the diving much different than roatan? I heard a report that the coral is healthier in utila, one only been to East and West roatan
My guess would be that it’s very similar because it’s the same reef system and close by.
