- In the third episode of "Assassin's Creed: The Real History" we look at the story behind the pirate Charles Vane.
This series will be a way for me to shed light on the real history behind characters and events that are showcased in the Assassin's Creed video game series. Throughout the video I will be comparing real historical moments to those represented in the selected game.
If you have any events or characters that you'd like me to cover in the future, please be sure to leave it in a comment below.

Edward doesn't kill Vane- he just beats him up before leaving. While you're rescuing Mary, there's this optional objective- can't remember what it's called but you find the remains of Calico Jack and while you're inside the prison, you see Vane who was captured. I think it's safe to assume what happened historically happened in the game- it just wasn't shown.
Vincisomething yeah I thought that
Its called visit old friend you can find jack rackham dead in a hanging cage and vane in a cell who has descended into madness
Oh i see because when I see his bio it’s say died in????
Edward didn't kill vane on the island because you see him imprisoned when u go rescue Mary read and Anne bonny
Thank you to all my viewers for catching that little mistake concerning Vane's death in the game. As opposed to replying to all the comments, I'll just leave a post here letting you know that I am aware of the error and I've added an annotation in the video. I apologize for missing that little bit of information. I'd therefore like to retract the statement that Vane's death was inaccurately represented and congratulate Ubisoft on the accurate end to Vane's life! Thanks again everyone.

Btw. Edward didn't kill him. He survived and died in the Jamaican prison. (You can find him sitting in a jail cell in the prison break mission) just if you didn't already know ;)
do adewale
does anyone know who the other prisoner was in the prison break mission besides vane? I never found the other one
***** oh wow, didnt see that comming. Thanks :)
My ancestor vane was hanged in somewhere in the 17 century
Edward didn't kill Vane though. He was in jail when Mary died.
Exactly
H
I really like this series. The history is exactly what I love AC most for.
And I like how... "unflashy" this series is. No hard cuts, no exited shouting, no stupid jokes. Only information. Well done.
99.9% comments: Edward didn't kill Vane 0.1% other stuff
Funny story, you know that the guy that voices Charles Vane is actually Dagmer in GoT?
Actually, Edward didn't kill Vane on the island. In the prison break misson, you can visit Vane while inside the prison. He is still alive.
I have a slight crush on Charles Vane, he's also one of my top 5 favorite pirates
Vane wasnt killed by Kenway in Assassins creed IV. Two/three missions later. Kenway finds Vane inside a cell in Kingston who's talking to himself.
Vane survives the Edward assassination. In the prison mission you see him alive in a cell.
Yeah, I've been told in other comments. Sorry guys, I haven't had the time to go back and play the game full-completionist (100% synch) and therefore I missed this on my initial playthrough. Thanks for catching that.

OnlineKnights yeah, same thing happened to me (I respond, continuing the binge responses between the two of us). When Edward killed Vane on the island I was shocked at how uncharacteristically inaccurate the game had been. Then I missed him and Jack at the prison the first time. Eventually upon going back and trying for 100% I found him and was like "oh, Ubisoft, You tricky bastard you!"
tropicAces Haha, I had the exact same feeling. However, unfortunately for me, I hadn't had the time to go back and re-play the game to get full synchronization and therefore missed my "aha" moment prior to making this video. I've since added an annotation apologizing for that small mistake in the video.

Oh sorry havent seen your post about this earlier :P
Dont fuck with me Jack
Somebody needs to upload all the cutscenes and clips of Charles Vane. I find him hilarouis at times.
I've debated about doing something somewhat similar in the future. I may just bite the bullet one day and put out that silly video :)

Someone already has
YOU GOD DAMN FUCKING KNAVE VANE
Actually Edward didn't kill him he left him on the island and later you find him in the prison on the mission when you have to save Anne and Mary he is also insane
Iv properly read the same kinda comment on here about how he got the canes death wrong lol I guess no one reads these days aye
+Nasi2161 Hahaha, thanks for noticing. It has always blown me away, especially since I think that comment has always been at the top of the video. You know, plus the annotation at 6:15 haha. Oh well, what are ya gonna do?
-Robius
Vane wasn't killed by Kenway. When escaping the Jamaican prison, you see Vane in a cell. Jack on the other hand, you see in a cage outside the prison already dead being a skeleton.
Well here's an interesting series... there goes my early night
There is a few things you missed about vane, about his ships and when he became a captain
Please continue this series forever ! I love it !! One of the bests on utibe ;D
Haha, I have no plans of ending it any time soon. Thank you so much for your support, it really means a lot to me. These types of appreciative posts motivate me to keep working to continue producing new episodes each week.

Charles vane is my 4th favorite person in ac4 just because of is voice and he has the same name as me
Actually you find Vane in the prison you release Kidd from, or well, trying atleast. So Vane didn't die on the Island, the Law executed him in the game aswell.
DAYUM. Vane was a badass! Knew I liked this bugger for a reason!
Charles doesn't die on the island though I found him in a cell in the prison when you rescue Mary read and Ann Bonny
Just a little fact correction: Edward doesn't kill Vane on the island, just leaves him for dead. You can find him in a prison cell mumbling nonsense after you escape the Kingston jail.
Good observation. I've played through that mission twice and have never seen Vane there. It just seemed to be implied that Edward killed him, however thank you for sharing. That would make the history more accurately represented in the game. Nice to see there are some other dedicated AC fans catching these details.
Yeah it's part of full sync, where you have to find two old friends. Where Jack is a skeleton in a cage and Vane went crazy in his cell. So I guess his death a bit more accurate to reality yeah.
OnlineKnights I'm sorry if this is uncalled for but Nassau is pronounced with "aw" at the end, as in "jaw". It's not "Naso". Once again sorry, but it was really bothering me.
Edward didn't kill him in the game. He hurt him but during the prison escape mission you see Charles Vane in a prison cell but still alive as he's waiting for execution.
Actually in assassins creed he does go to the prison if you do the visit old friends optional objectives you'll find him and jack rackam
Rackham*
How did in-game Vane get off the island?
6:45 Vane wasn’t killed by Edward since If you get to a higher part in the game,he is in a cell in Kingston
Great video, please could you do stede bonnet
That will definitely be happening in the near future.
-Robius5991
Edward didn't actually kill vane because you talk to him in a cell later in the story
You can find vane in the Jamaican prison in port royal
0:00-0:52 is just a brilliant cutscene ok f what just a few months of being stranded on a deserted island can do to ones psyche. Evidently when Edward supposedly assassinates Vain at the end if this mission he doesn't actually kill him. Edward beats him up and leaves him on the island hijacking a civilian scooner which had just docked in the area to fish. Vain goes further insane as months pass but he too eventually escapes isla Providencia but is later captured and hung by the British
You are wrong in the game in the mission where mary read dies there is an Easteregg where he is in prison look up all old friends on assassins creed 4
Anyone here in 2021.........just me?🥺😔
Can you do one one Mary Read, Anne Bonny, Calico Jack, and Woodes Rogers?
Got one of those done and working on the second for next week!
-Robius5991
OnlineKnights Awesome!
kenway never killed vane you meet him later in jail in kingston in port royal
Vane was in the prison Edward was.... a few missions later! So Vane lived through the Assassination Sequence after Edward attacked him, and so for, therefore... accurate.
I think u have forgotten that vane Was incapacitated by ken way then he was found by The navy then he was taken to a Jamaican prison
Just me that hears him says 'Bane' right?
The part about charles vane was correct u got it wrong because when u brake mary read and anne bonney out of prison u can find charles vane in one of the cells in the prison the visit old friends challenge u only wou
nd him and leave him to die on the island
Wrong
There wasn't an armed mutiny in real life. The angry crew demanded a vote, and Jack Rackham won it fair and square. He gave Vane a sloop and some supplies, and the two parted amicably.
Edward didnt actually kill Vane... just wounded him and left him to die... but he survived and got caught later and hanged
But actually in the game Vane dies in prison as well and is not actually killed by edward ! You can meet Vane a very last time in this prison in Kingston while trying to find Mary and Anne
He does not die in prison. Read his profile.
Edward didn't kill him. It seems like it, but he didn't as you see him in prison in the mission 'To Suffer Without Dying'.
Actually Edward doesn't kill Vane on the island. You can find him in the prison where you rescue Anne and Mary.
Edward didn't kill vein in the game he just knocked him out and left him for dead on the island then in a later Mission you find out that he's been captured in the Jamaican prison
Can't you see Vane in the Jamaican prison when you break out Anne?
This was a cool video, but Edward didn't kill Vane. He was even at the jail where Mary died.
edward didn't kill vane he left vane there to die then the royal navy arrived and took vane to a Jamaican prison
Edward does not kill Vane. You see im locked in a cell kn the Jamaica prison escape.
I know right
Stede Bonnet
Very interesting, I will have to look into that in the near future.
-Robius5991
Everything is fine but Edward didnt killed him. He was in prison while we rescue Mary
Edward didn't kill him he survived his injuries and died the same way as in history
He never killed him he was locked up in prison
1 templar.
Jamaican jamaican
vane want killed by edward, he was taken to the jamaican prison
What is this, a fucking monastery?
al mualim
do a vid about al mualim
lol the way u say Nassau is weird
Kenway did not kill vane
Edward didn’t kill him
TH-cam
I do wonder why Jack Rackham was made to appear so sassy and possibly gay/bisexual???
Personally I have no problem with this, I actually am bisexual myself, but I still question the decision by the developers for the sake of curiosity.
I think they just needed to make someone like Jack Sparrow, and his name was Jack, so he was the chosen one
